So about a month ago my mum brought home 2 chihuahua puppies that were only a few days old. Their mother had died and they had nobody to take care of them. She put them into this small box with a heating lamp and fed them baby formula every few hours. After a week or so, 1 of the puppies died. So now there is only 1 left and he had just been diagnosed with pneumonia.

My mother has no idea why the mother and the other puppy died. She just said it was too weak. I wonder if it's a genetic thing?

Also is this a good living environment for a puppy? I had read that puppies should not be taken away from their mother before 8 weeks. He must be very lonely all by himself.

What can I do to make it better for him? Is he old enough to start any sort of training? Should u get him some toys or something?

Baby formula or puppy formula? There's a difference.
>>
>>2317749
It's baby formula unfortunately. I also wasn't aware that there is a difference. Is it a big problem?

i got my cat from craigs list. i went to the lady's house who had the kittens and she let me pick one. i paid 50 dollars. there's nothing wrong with the cat, except it's a little bit retarded. it's really big and strong and kills all kinds of animals in my yard, it even got like a gopher type thing this spring. the only problem with the cat apart from it being kind of dumb is that it is also very mean. i also think the cat might be deaf, as it seems to not hear me when i approach it from behind and it reacts violently. the only problem i've really had with the cat is that it yells, and it sounds just like a grown man screaming, almost all night for no real reason that i can find. apart from that the cat is perfectly fine and i only paid 50 dollars for it off of craigs list. honestly, the only bad thing about the cat so far is that it tears into the trash almost every day.
>>
I'm pretty sure you can still get one dude, I think they usually have way too many animals and need to get rid of as many as possible.

When they fight eat other they use their horns to murder each other viciously. But when there is a lion or leopard they turn into Autists and never once think about using their horns, neither do Wilde-beasts.

Horned animals rarely kill, or even actually injure, each other. They generally don't use their horns because having one end of yourself somewhat protected against a pack of animals twice your size isn't helpful. Larger animals like wildebeest(s?) and buffalo often do try to defend themselves from predators. You probably could've figured out half of what if you just thought about it for more than six seconds.

Do runts of a litter have health problems later in life? Asking because my cat is a runt. Pic unrelated.

All cats should be killed on sight.

Health issues due to being a runt? Not always, sometimes they are perfectly healthy. And just being the smallest one in a litter doesn't always make it a runt. Runts are smaller than the average animal of that age, so even the smallest kitten of a litter may still be average size as a whole. Generally an unhealthy runt is seen right at birth; they have trouble breathing, eating, become ill, and later on develop slower. If none of that happened you're probably fine.

Your cat will get health problems later in life though.

Hi /an/ I've got a 60ft-high Californian palm in my garden and its tip is growing new leaves on top of the dead ones that won't fall on their own.
They look pretty ugly so I wanted to trim them off; too bad that tre is top fucking high and my highest ladder still can't reach them

TL;DR: what's the best and cheapest way to safely climb a palm that high?

hire a professional tree climber arborist to do it
>>
>>2316433
The point is I need to do that often, to remove any seeds before they fall down and fill my whole garden with saplings.. I can't afford to hire a professional arborist this often.
>>
>>2316438
the climbing gear alone will cost more than several professional visits

not to mention the risk you'd be taking considering you don't know how to use it

Why are dogs so much more superior than cats?
27 posts and 5 images submitted.
>>
>>2316390
Speaking purely objectively, dogs have a much higher level of practical applications. Even traditional feline roles such as mousing can often be performed to the same degree if not better than by a dog.
Catfags will try and fail to refute this.
>>
because theyre cute and loyal and dont have toxoplasmosis

>>

How much food is the cat eating? If your cat is used to eating wet food instead of free range dry food, they will not show constraint. Meaning they will eat til they puke then eat more.
>>
Food allergies can develop when you feed your cat the same thing for forever. Switch brands.

Discuss anything aquarium related here, including inhabitants, decor and issues.

Google is your friend.
Feel free to ask questions but know that there are a lot of resources out there that could answer your question a lot faster and accurately than /an/.

Make sure to include these things in your post before asking because we can't help you if we don't have the full picture:
-tank size
-parameters
-any and all inhabitants + how long you've had them

You really want to think twice as to whether you want the commitment of having an aquarium before actually getting one. It's a lot of work.

So I was really desperate for a new job and I somehow landed a petcare/cashier position at my local PetSmart.

Problem is that I know next to nothing about fish and birds and my only animal experience is with dogs, bunnies, and a single mouse I once owned. I guess during my interview, that's all the experience they were looking for and considered me good enough to work there. Also I was coming from a doggy day care and boarding facility and I impressed the manager during the interview with my knowledge on dogs.

But small animals is what I'm going to be working with, and unless it's about bunnies I won't be able to help anyone. Sure they're gonna train me to do all the specific tasks but I won't be able to answer any specific questions that anyone has or help teach them much about their animal.

The last thing I want to be is that stereotypical stupid PetSmart employee who knows nothing about the animals they're selling and give dumb advice to the customers. Even if I'm not "required" to be this all-knowing pet guru, I still feel like it's my responsibility to at least know more than what is considered common knowledge for what we sell here.

What do I do? Just google all the animals we have and soak up the info like a sponge? Hang out in the "Pocket Pets general" thread and read every post? I'm sure over time I'll learn everything I need to know, but I don't want to wait that long.

Canada's is the beaver. I dunno why they went with beaver and not something more interesting like moose or polar bear. I'm okay with beavers though.

Beavers are a great choice desu.
I'd pick them over moose or polar bears for their work ethic alone, always busy foraging and building.
