>tfw no raccoons in your country/continent
It's not fair. I want these cute fellas here where I live. Why has no one thought of importing them to Europe yet? Who's gonna they hurt, the street pigeons?

>I want these cute fellas here
Raccoons are not cute and often dangerous.
>Why has no one thought of importing them to Europe yet?
Nobody is that dumb.
>Who's gonna they hurt, the street pigeons?
Raccoons are effective scavengers. They would most definitely interfere as an invasive species.
>>2321770
Europe has raccoons. There are feral ones around Kassel/Germany.
>>2321783
>Raccoons are not cute and often dangerous.
The only dangerous thing about them is rabies which all mammals get, and parasites you can get if you literally eat their shit
>Nobody is that dumb.
Yeah that's why people have introduced all sorts of far more destructive animals all over the place right?
>They would most definitely interfere as an invasive species.
Europe's ecosystem is already destroyed so it doesn't really matter.
I'm moving to a new house in a couple weeks, and I'm interested in setting up an aquaponics system in the backyard. Do you have any recommendations for a beginner?
Which setup should I use? I know there are a few Youtube videos on the subject, but I was wondering if anyone here has had success with a particular model.
>>2321765
I'm not the most knowledgeable, but I'm currently growing a ton of vegetables in a bell siphon system, eggplant, lettuce, mint, peppers, herbs, and tea with a larger version of this system. They're growing like weeds. It was mostly premade, but the setup requirements did not seem very difficult.
Specs for the pictured one according to the website are:
2'x8' Kit: 2'x8' grow bed approximately 120 gallons, 110 gallon pond, 700 gph water pump, large siphon kit, large piping set, 2'x8' table, 18 bags of pre-washed cinders or 8 bags of hydrocorn.
I bought it premade from the same company as the pictured one, but it's based in Hawaii. It may not be as helpful for you. I basically just needed to buy the cinder blocks to prop it up and sealant for the pvc pipes. Popular choice is always tilapia for hardiness and easy breeding, but a lot of people keep koi or large tropicals, mostly large cichlids and plecos, if they don't intend on eating them. I personally have koi in mine.
You're probably sick of video's or maybe you've watched this one, but they got over the same system I just mentioned in this video at 12:30.

Nice set up anon.
>>2321792
Thanks anon! I'm looking for something to feed two people, including myself, so yours looks to be a good size for that.
What do you do with your excess product? I was thinking about giving it out to neighbors or preserving it somehow, if that's possible.
Are some dogs just untrainable?
My boss asked me to train her Yorkie. They got it free from a family in an apartment. The little shit is 5 months, always running around, humping and yapping. I agreed to come teach commands maybe twice a week, but she also wants me to "teach" it to potty on a pad in the bathroom (these are hour sessions). She told me she has no time to do any training herself. Great.
Anyways, it took 3 sessions just to get it to start sitting. It has zero focus and is so small and fast its like trying to train a hamster.
Is there any hope?
>twice a week
there's your problem. training needs to happen every day, even multiple times a day. it's also better to tire the dog out before training.
>>2321903
Not true at all. You want a full energy and receptive dog to train.
>>2321904
that's also not entirely true. you wouldn't want a dog that's completely exhausted from exercise, but also not a dog that's practically bouncing of the walls. you need to find a middle ground.
>>2321735
if she "doesn't have time" training probably wont work. you can begin teaching a behaviour with training sessions, but unless you reinforce that in the daily life of the dog, you wont get any progress at all. If your boss wants to see results, tell her thing she should or shouldn't do to train her dog. (for example don't feed your dog table scraps and let him wait for his food to get a dog that doesn't beg for food all the time)

This is more /out/ than /an/ but Alone in the Wilderness is very comfy. It's about a man who goes to Alaska to live in the wilderness for a year where he builds his own cabin and tools and does general outdoorsy things. He liked it so much he lived there for thirty more years until he was eighty-two. Pretty respectable guy in my opinion. Somewhat /an/ because he meets some animals.
Is Euarchonta no longer a thing? Apparently Wikipedia changed her mind and now lists Scadentia as basal Glires instead.

Whoa, wats dis?

>>2321396
Holy shit you're right, RIP Euarchonta
I think I watched some kind of spider courtship ritual. What species is this? I see them a lot in the corners of rooms and in my shower most of the year. I'm in the southeast US.
>>2321267
Some kind of cellar spider, family Pholcidae. Don't know the specific species though.
>>2321269

Do rabbits benefit from socialization at a young age? I mean socialization as in going out and seeing new places. What i'm asking is: Will it help or hurt my bunnies to take them to new places, like a friend's house, when they're 4-5 weeks old? Don't worry, they're not away from momma yet -- I'd just like to know if it's acceptable to take them on adventures while they're small.
>>2320214
Have you ever read Watership Down?
>>2320214
Rabbits don't like travel. In the wild, they pick one place to live.
>The European rabbi' is non-migra'ory
Looks pretty tasty. When do you plan on eating him? Do you have any recommendations when I should eat mine. I bought 3 from petco and been feeding him for about 3 months. Do you suggest I harvest him now or in about 1 month when hes more plump?
