I would like opinions. Good or bad. I am getting either 1 baby mink or a pair of baby prairie dogs. So my pros/cons:
>mink
+i love all mustelids
+very intelligent and eager to train for meat
+bond to the person that bottlefed it
+can use the litterbox
+loves to swim
+their hyperness would be fun
+can actually be doglike in terms of companionship
-extremely energetic, needs all-day exercise and mental stimulation
-most likely will bite anyone/anything but me
-might still bite me no matter what
-smelly pee
>prairie dogs
+think their "language" is fascinating and adorable
+easier and cheaper to feed vs mink
+more affection than rats
+don't have any particularly bad odors
+can get along with other people and animals
+bonds very close to their owner
+much less likely to be aggressive vs mink
+generally live longer than mink
-they require hay, I'm miserably allergic to hay
-more cost for buying bedding
-they tend to chew on everything out of cage like rabits
-they poop more/not litter trainable
-can become aggressive after puberty, even if they're fixed
The pd pups cost $300 for a pair. There's only 1 vet near me, who specializes in rodents and rabbits, that is willing to fix them and will do it cheap because he's never done it before.
The mink baby is $300, plus $90 to be shipped to me. I will be bottle-feeding it. It's much more expensive to get it fixed, plus rabies shots are mandatory. But my vet is ok with treating "pet" mink.
Pic related, thinking of getting an albino mink.
Don't get an animal that you are allergic to, or allergic to what you have to feed it. It won't work out well and if someone else lives with you, they will end up being your pet slave while you stand behind them and watch them tend to your pets needs. They will begin to hate you.
I imagine you have the means to house either of these or you wouldn't post this on /an/ like a huge retard.
I'd honestly go for the mink.

Also do minks "bite" things to test them like a dog might or do they bite to kill.
Honestly depending on that, both of these might be utterly terrible for you.
Ever see how close you can get your camera to your animal's face for a picture?
What do I win?
Yeah. She gave zero fucks.
/an/!!! I got an interview at my LPS! WISH ME LUCK PLEASE. IM SO HAPPY.

>customer asks if we have pugs. Beat her to death while screaming "torture breed"!
>customer brings in cat for tick removal. Outdoor cat- into the trash it goes.
>customer asks to buy shibe puppy. Demand proof of at least 30 years prior experience with beginner dogs.
>customer's dog bitten by snake, they bring snake in for ID. Scan snake, post on /an/.
>customer wants to buy fish. Tell them they can't buy any fish unless they show you timestamped photo of their 500g tank. 500g is now the minimum required size for one fish.
>customer wants sand for reptile enclosure. Beat him to death with the dead body of an impacted gecko.
>customer comes in looking for rodents and/or ferrets. Openly mock their lack of personal hygiene.
yeah, I mean it sounds like a perfect fit!

Peel the snakes like bananas.
So my buddy just gave me his sugar glider, he couldnt give it the time anymore and i've been looking for a new pet. i've done a ton of research and i've done my best to provide a good home, diet, and care for the little guy. This is my first time with one. She is a year old and i've had her for 3 days now, but she seems super scared of me, despite daily bonding pouch time. Is there more i should be doing? Or is it just a matter of time
>inb4 "YOU NEED 2" not an option
Any advice in general would be appreciated, really don't wanna fuck this up.
I think it will just take a bit of time, maybe put a tshirt of yours in her cage when she's in it so she can get more used to your scent.
It will never like you, these things are fucking assholes
Just bought a Diamond Dove. Anybody have some suggestions for offering her the best care I can?
How should I go about adding grit to her diet? What are some good treats to give a dove?

most aesthetic doesn't mean best looking.
just saying.
>>2338113
hmm touchè. best looking then
I love brown and white border collies, i think they are genetically predisposed to health issues though so it kinda sucks.
We just noticed this weird growth-like thing near the base of my dog's ear. It's hard-ish and hair has stuck to it. We can't tell for sure whether it's connected to the skin but we're pretty sure it is. Any ideas what this might be? The dog is a 5-year-old mutt.

Female :) hi!
>>2338046
Yeah the dog is a female. Pic related

Are you sure that isn't a tick? Looks remarkably tick like, and is in the right spot. However, whatever you do, if it is a tick make sure you remove it properly using a tick tool or take it to a vet who can remove it for you. You don't want to leave the head in the body.
As for anything else barring ticks, it could be a benign tumour or it could be a cyst. There is very little way of knowing without a pathology report. You can either take it to your vet, have it removed and then sent away for laboratory analysis. Or you could leave it and monitor it- if it grows/your dog starts to bother it etc then you will need to have it removed.
How long can I leave my cat alone?
It depends. When I was moving and the place wasn't ready yet (fuckers) we had to stay in a hotel for a week. We left the cat in a pet resort and he was so happy to have us back. He's a fatty but he did not eat the entire time he was there.
I've left my cat alone for a few weeks without anyone looking after him and never had problems, I'm sure they get bored and they're happy when you return but they're generally pretty solitary animals anyway. As long as you have enough space for them to run around in circles. I can just leave massive amounts of food and water out for my cat but I know some people can't do that without their cat overeating to an insane degree.
cool thanks

Goddamnit man, I was going to give you a like on your video until you opened your mouth and sounded like a fucking goddamn idiot. The younger guy is the saving grace making me still watch your damn video.
Don't sound so stupid if you want to be taken seriously.

I don't get it, what's the issue here?
>>2337953
The guy sounds so fucking stupid. Like those damn hippy people that freak out and stand up in a tree naked and through poop at you so you won't chop it down.
Just the type that goes way overboard and turns people away from their cause.

walmart is pretty bad keeping fish alive or applying the minimum amount of effort to keep the fish alive some guys are just trying to clean up the dead fish and keep the water from becoming septic
Spring is coming yet again. Maybe this year we can actually get a sticky to help faggot OP take care of the baby bird/mouse/kitten etc that they picked up.
I'm trying to find a single website that would list wildlife services for every US state. I thought the EPA website would do this, but it's actually pretty balls to navigate.
>go to https://www.epa.gov/home/epa-your-state
>click on your state
>some have a list of state agencies, most states don't
>if your state lists agencies, contact the one most relevant to your issue (wildlife control, environmental conservation, environmental protection, etc.

Ahhh spring.
Bags of kittens.
Flowing rivers.
Birds singing.
Truly a beautiful season.
