I adopted a pup last week and I have no idea what he is. He is 5-6 months old and he's 10 pounds. They said chi mix but he is way too friendly to be a chihuahua. I'm going to get the DNA test eventually, but what do you guys think he is mixed with? Btw he is the coolest pup ever.

I'll be honest, he might be part pug. His face is really smushed and looks so much like one.

I'm curious to see the results, OP. He looks like a qt.

Looks like Pug / Beagle
>>

If you got a beagle, you're lucky. They're pretty damn great. I'm pretty sure I had a beagle mixed with something else as a kid, and he was pretty darn sweet.

I had picked up a 6-8 week old puppy from a litter about 2 days ago now. (His name is Tank and he's a Jack Russell)

However I feel kinda thrown into the deep end here, we've gotten him a rather large dog crate but for the past two nights he's cried non-stop when left alone to sleep.

I've fed him just before sleep, made sure he's released himself and played with him before bed to tucker him out, however the peace only lasts an hour tops before he wakes up and cries.

During the day he can't nap unless he's on somebody, he'll jump up at your legs and cry until picked up. I think he has separation anxiety and would love any tips or advice to help with this as looking it up doesn't seem as fruitful as getting advice from people with experience.
Thanks for your time.

Don't feed him right before bed. He'll need to go to the bathroom with much more frequency. He's only 2 months old, so he should be going out every two hours and that includes when you're sleeping. Feed him an appropriate amount of food 3 times a day: at your breakfast, at your lunch, and at your dinner. When he's older you can switch to once/twice a day.

He doesn't have separation anxiety after two days. He's a literal baby as he is adapting to a new situation. Unless it's been two hours since his last bathroom trip, you need to let him cry it out. Puppies have less of a chance of separation anxiety if you put them into a routine immediately. But trust me, the jumping/crying/etc. isn't separation anxiety.

Here was my routine when I got my puppy--I had some time to take care of him without going to work or school, so yours may be different:

>wake up, immediately take him for bathroom break
>back in for breakfast
>age-appropriate-time walk after breakfast (5 min for every month old he was)
>he takes a nap in his crate
>when he wakes up, bathroom break
>playtime

Any time he wasn't specifically with me, he was in the crate. Every time he was done playing, napping, eating, drinking, bathroom break. When he napped, it was in the crate. When the crying became too infuriating, I would step out of the apartment (or cover th crate with a blanket and make him think I did). The crying would ALWAYS stop after thirty seconds had passed and he realized it wasn't going to work. Try this. Don't do it for more than a few minutes the first time (or a little longer if he falls asleep), but I guarantee you your puppy doesn't have separation anxiety.

pay the dudes you got it from to keep it for one more month with its mom
I mean you already see the problem in action

Alright thanks a bunch, that's a relief. Still kinda new to this so I apologise if my questions weren't exactly well read into.

The thing about Tank is he refuses to nap unless he's on somebody. The best I can do is wait until he's passed out on my lap then lay him in his crate.

Do you suggest after his bathroom break and play time, I just put him down in his crate and leave him alone? Despite the crying?

(He hasn't gotten any jabs yet so the best we can do is let him run about the garden with us.)

Redpill me on limiting walks.
I've been walking it for a mile on grass every hour or two depending if it's sleeping.
I've been letting it run a bit but only on the grass is that alright.

Yikes

The general rule is five minutes of walking for every month old they are, twice a day if they're up to it. Fifteen minutes of walking should be good enough for her, not every hour. She looks like she's going to get big, so you don't want to overexert her growing joints and bones. If you find she has too much energy after that walking, you should play with her more.

Letting her run on the grass by herself should probably be ok since she's not doing it for long periods of time and it sounds like you're just letting her do it as she likes instead of forcing her to run alongside you.
>>
>>2341478
I don't let the dog off the leash outside, plus it's quite short as well
So for when I want to take it out for the bathroom I should just sit around and not walk it around?
>>
>>2341479
A mile walk every hour or two isn't a bathroom break...there IS a medium between "walking a mile every hour" and "not letting the dog move around at all". Go into the grass and let her sniff around. it isn't a race. If she doesn't go to the bathroom then take her back inside and supervise her or put her into her crate for another half hour, then try again. Don't walk her for a mile.

If I want to keep bees and don't give a shit about honey (just want to help out the bees) can I just buy a hive and stick some bees+queen in it? Do you need to actively maintain the hive if you're not harvesting honey?

I'm not a beekeeper myself but I believe that honeybees generally do require some maintenance. Now that Varroa mites are everywhere regular hives have a tough time surviving through winters.

I love your plan though, bees are awesome.
>>
>>2341330
I keep finding abandoned artificial hives in the hills. Implies to me that the need maintenance.
>>
you have to collect honey either way, if the hive gets filled up, they'll move.

Why does my cat keep deciding that the best time to take a huge, smelly dump in his litter box is the time when I'm just finished preparing my dinner? Whenever I eat food I've microwaved or heated in any other kind of way, my cat decides to take a dump right when it's finished and it stinks up my entire first floor. This has happened so many times now it has to be a connection between the two. Why?

It is because you choose to live with an animal that shits in a box, inside your house.
A box that you have to empty and maintain.

Thank you for all your support. I would also like to know why my cats, even though they spend several hours a day outside, seem to wait until they get inside again before they relieve themselves? I was hoping they'd do their business outside from now on, but they keep holding it in until they get inside again and can use the box. Why?

Sup /an/, /b/fag here.

So my stoner friend bought a pig recently thinking it'd be funny to put a leash on it and walk it around town for shits & giggles, he ghetto-rigged a harness leash for it but the pig looks fucking pissed every time he takes it out for a walk.

I'm talking like proper assblasted judging by its behavior, and trying to get it high didn't do shit so he figured it'd be lulzy to have flames and dicks tattooed on it to better reflect its personality and set it loose in the local pet part to wreck shit and bully dog owners.

He also wanted to put spikes on the harness but with the way he made it the pig would probably stab itself on them so instead we decided to fix a bluetooth speaker on it to blast death metal when the pig goes apeshit in the park.

Problem is the pig never actually attacked anything while we were walking it, it just looked pissed and made angry pig noises at everything, so we're not sure if it would actually start wrecking shit once its set loose or just walk around like a tard?

Thoughts?

Hi /an/ I adopted a four year old male dog (pic related) and everything is great, mostly. A few questions.

He doesn't want to do his business in the grassy area outside my patio area (apartment) he only will do it out in the front of the building where the other dogs do. Is there any way to fix this? It's not a huge deal if I can, it's literally only for my convenience and I don't mind walking him out to the front.

Second, my landlord says he whines when I'm not there. I can't imagine that it's loud but still. Can this be fixed? I mean it's not gonna get me evicted but he is still new so I think it will stop, otherwise should I just leave the TV on for sound?

Sorry I'm such an unexperience fuck, feel free to roast me but look at his cute face (border collie/pomeranian)

It might be annoying but it is natural. And some GP's are quieter.

Please let it out, if this isn't bait, you're making this poor animal suffer for doing what it is naturally meant to do.

Put it back in its cage, put some headphones on and listen to something that is louder than the pig. You don't need to be a child about this.

Hi /an/. Need some advice here. This is my roommate's dog Mia she is very sweet and weve bonded pretty well.
>tl:dr should I adopt my roommate's dog?

Some background on Mia, she was a rescue and I notice some behavior issues. She really doesnt like men and hated me at first and acted very agressive until she warmed up to me and now cuddles. She shakes if the vacuum and broom comes out so i suspect she was abused. She barks at people walking by outside. Shes also an older dog at 9 years.

My roommate is moving out and his having a baby. She wanted me to keep and adopt Mia, part of the reason is shes scared she would be agressive with the baby or overly defensive of it.

I have never owned a dog before but I really like Mia shes a good companion and I have happily watched her for weeks to a month and she was very easy going lap dog.

I guess my main concern is that my roommate expects me to take full financial responsibility for it. The food isnt much and she only eats 1 cup a day. I just worry that shes older and could get sick although in the 2.5 years ive lived with her she hasnt had any issues. I worry about her behavior and biting someone. My biggest worry is boarding. I like to travel often. I am planning on going to europe this summer and during holidays i go home and visit my parents for a month.

Anyways What am I taking on as a new dog owner? Im worried. I like mia and have always loved dogs. I was never allowed to as a kid. What kind of financial burden am i taking on? Will i have to give up my freedom of travel?
My roommate said she would be willing to watch Mia but I dont know how long or often.

>She shakes if the vacuum and broom comes out so i suspect she was abused.
Not necessarily. For some reason most dogs are terrified of vacuum cleaners.
>>
>>2340931
Idk much about dogs but the fact that shes agressive with men and not women makes me think she was abused by a man. Plus one time she shook and hid under a bed for 30 mins when the vacuum came out and pissed all over the floor. I dont think thats normal. Sooo any advice?
>>
>>2340939
Oh and despite all the cons I guess and there really isnt shes generally very good. Shes very sweet and gentle. I love her. I have always had a bleeding heart for animals especially dogs. Shes low energy besides the barking at people outside. Likes to cuddle and sleep next to me. Shes a very sweet gentle dog with me. I just dont know the costs of an old dog or boarding. I dont realy have friends that would watch her.
