Why are some people so scared of frogs? They are the most adorable amphibians out there. All they do is hop and shit in your hand

>pool
>huge bull frog gets in
>friendo spazzing out
>cried when it got near him
>no history of frog related trauma
>was molested tho

I've never met anyone that was scared of frogs.
Only some people that didn't want to touch them because wet and slimy.

>get girls to hold snakes fine

I think it's just the slimy

Ah. Would it be different with toads then on account of the dryer skin.

Anyone seen anything like this before? They're on my 3 year old dog's chest. They don't seem to irritate her and she doesn't react if you touch them.
I'm calling the vet when they open in the morning, just wondering if anyone has an idea.

Try lightly singing them with a lighter?

They look kind of like skin tags. Can get them randomly, but usually in places where there is dirt and friction. People often get them under the armpits or between the thighs. They're usually not very serious and removal is often for cosmetic reasons, but if the tags can get caught and cause minor bleeding, which is the other reason to get them looked at.

Your dog probably does what mine does, when his belly is itchy, he crawls on the floor and legs the carpet scratch him.

Or, this could be from something else, like a harness you walk your puppo with.

Hey /an/, can we get a discussion about declawing going? A group in my area is pushing to make it outright illegal, and I'm a little on the fence about making it completely illegal.

Also I have a very short poll for anyone interested that's related to the topic. It will be used to supplement an unbiased research paper.

Pity on you for not saging a thread you think is bait.

I guess I will elaborate;
I don't think declawing is ethical in the slightest, but the bill that an animal rights group is trying to pass would make any and all declawing illegal. There are cases where cats, for medical reasons, would need one or more toes amputated. Also, there is the case for cats with neurological issues. I'm not talking about cats that people just think are mean and crazy, I mean cats that will continuously scratch a place until it bleeds, and vets not finding an underlying cause for the behavior.

On the other hand, these cases are rare and so far with my research I've found that not only do declawed cats get surrendered more, but they are also more likely euthanized at shelters for untreatable issues and are also harder to adopt out.

Unironically, wikipedia. Just look up the details of claims you're interested in. Documentaries are extremely low-information. If you like looking at pretty pictures, watch docs, if you want information, start reading.

My cat (age 12) has something wrong with him. He pissed himself and started loudly meowing, seeming to be in pain. He was having seizures before but hasn't had them in a while. I already sent him to the vet but I'd like to hear /an/'s opinion on it.
pic related it's him.

Implying /an would know better than a vet. There's plenty of things that could be wrong with him at this age, but I hope it all resolves in the end, anon

A friend of my mom's has Labradors and they're expecting to get some puppies by the end of this year. My family has never had a "real" pet before, and we're considering getting one of the puppies since the friend would give us one for free.

So anyways, since I don't know shit about dogs, what are Labradors like? Should I wait to get the Labrador for free, or should I look at getting another kind of dog earlier? Should I buy one, or adopt one?

This is literally my first post on /an/, sorry if I did anything wrong.

Blah blah blah your mom's friend is a shitty BYB if she's not doing extreme vetting + health testing etc. If she's a legit breeder then cool.

If you're getting a puppy for free then eh, why not? If your mom's friend is a shitty BYB and she's gonna make you pay, don't. It isn't worth it to support shitty breeding practices and get a pup that will likely have health issues. /an/ will tell you to always adopt, but if you're getting a dog for free there's little harm. You can find puppies in shelters, you can find purebreds in shelters, and most dogs in shelters were surrendered because of shitty people (he's too energetic! I'm moving! I'm having a baby! grandpa died and no one wants the dog!) rather than aggression. aggressive dogs get put down.

Anyway, labs are a pretty good first time dog if you're actually willing to commit to having a dog and not just a decorative fixture. They are dogs that were bred for a specific, high-energy job, so make sure you're willing to commit to exercising every day.

Five minutes of exercise for how many months old a puppy is, twice a day. So 4 months = 20 minutes of exercise twice a day. Most dogs top out at an hour when they're adults, but some can go longer. A well-exercised dog is a well-behaved dog.

Exercise is also important for labs because they're really, really prone to obesity. Why? They live to eat. They will eat well past the point of fullness, and they aren't picky. Do a caloric requirement calculation and measure out their food, and buy a high-quality food. If you're willing to put more brain power into calculating macronutrient needs, do so. A really really hardworking dog needs higher fat content in his food; a lazier one, not so much. Because they eat so much, they get really fat, and they become barrel-shaped. Many people haven't ever seen a lab at a healthy weight so they think labs *should* be barrel-shaped.
>>
>>2352306
cont.

training a lab is a little harder than a golden but not by much, because they will do *literally anything* for food. if you held a handful of dried chicken bits in your hand and said, "Buddy...destroy," New York would have fallen before you could have pointed at it to tell him which way to go. They're that obsessed with food.

You can go to any website to learn about puppy training, but I highly recommend the crate and advise highly against puppy pads--they just teach puppies to shit in the house and then they become confused when you suddenly don't like it anymore. look up crate training before anti-crate fags try to convince you it means caging your dog all day and never letting him out.

make sure someone has time to spend with the puppy for a long time. the rule for how long they can hold their bladder is 1 hour for every month old they are. 3 months = 3 hours. this means you will be getting up every three hours, every four hours, every five hours, etc. for at least 3 months.

if you've got the time to potty train him, the energy to exercise him, and the self-discipline not to overfeed him when he looks at you with the big ol' puppy eyes, a lab is a great first-time dog.
>>
>>2352310
a note about the exercise: it's really important. I know I said most dogs top out at about an hour of exercise at a time, but that doesn't mean an hour of lazy walking, that means an hour of running, jumping, fetching, swimming, etc.

luckily most labs are pretty dumb though, so as long as you have a good strong chew for them, you don't have to worry about mental exercise in addition to physical exercise like with a husky or collie

I don't /an/ much but I'am starting my apiary this year. Packages should be arriving in most parts of the country around now. Just installed some carnis, hoping I didn't fuck up cuz there was some syrup on the top of the frame feeder that probably drowned a handful and I feel shit about it. Also shook the package but then wiggle-guided it on top of the frames, gotta go take it out in an hour when the rain stops and weather gets warmer. Direct released the queen.

Any other honey ranchers here?
