I just found two of these next to each other, dead, in my kitchen. They could be dead due to some cockroach traps I put like a year ago. Anyways, could you guys help me identify what kind of insect these are?

we really think the earth is gonna die because of us? How ignorant and egotistical man is. even if we drop all the nukes on the planet the only thing that will die is man. after a thousand years guess what? Life will pop back up on our little blue planet after the nuclear fallout. The earth survived worse than "global warming" and survived the primordial time of the universe being created. But don't worry some fucking plastic is gonna kill the earth. The only thing we are trying to save is not the earth but our ego and ourselves. the slogan should be, "SAVE MANKIND" and not save the earth. After our pathetic little race dies off like the dinosaurs the earth will still be here spinning around the sun. It's the circle of life. When we die another will replace it. Just means that we died due to our own stupidity and negligence.

>Just means that we died due to our own stupidity and negligence.

Well, we die anyways. The sense that this wet ball of stellar mud is special was our own to begin with. The mistake may be thinking the other animals are just here for the ride. It seems more likely that the truth is so are we.

I remind you that humanity is a concept invented by primates. Its the daydream apes awaken to and play out every day, then go back to sleep, certain that it took an especially smart ape to dream up such a concept.
>>
>>2369283
it's just marketing dude

'saving the earth' is the sort of thing that is simultaneously simple, grand and as universally good, and thus gets more people involved.

If anybody talks about say, cleaning up the streets of detroit for the people of detroit, you're more likely to get a 'fuck off' in response.

What's a good touchy-feely pet for someone that's allergic to hair (dogs & cots)

Birbs.
>>
>>2368906
I'm in the same position as you anon. Are you allergic to all mammals? If not, try rodents esp hairless ones.
>>2368928
Are they though? I read everywhere online that you shouldn't hold birds or even touch them on the back because it leads to aggression.
>>
>>2368928
Got me a tiel, while he doesn't mind kisses, nose pumps, standing on my hand and walking around on top of my chest/shoulder, touching is a no-no for him and he'll bite.

but i actually saw three huge pink parrots in a zoo that loved getting head pats, were really qt.

My untamed budgerigar got out of his cage and has been in my living room for 13 hours with no food or water, he hasn't been near his cage for all this time..
I really don't want to chase him around, how much longer should I wait? Should I go in another room?
12 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Catch him with garden gloves on, or a butterfly net. Their beaks can't even break the skin.

btw why do you have an untamed bird? I'm willing to bet you take shit care of him. does he have cuttlebone....is his water clear and not filthy....do you give him new activities to do like shred paper so he doesn't lose his mind
>>
>>2368903
Yes, I do take care of him.
We are still making progress, he is 10 months old I think. I've had him for about 2 months, the previous owner was a girl who just threw a blanket over his cage because she didn't want to hear the chirping. I was feeding him milet from my hand when he escaped.
Only change I can think of is that I have now removed his mirror completely, still I don't understand why he doesn't go near his cage..
>>
>>2368911
well, they feel safest in high places. so if he's untamed, he won't go in the cage while you're there. try leaving the room, if that doesn't work you'll have to catch him. and it's good to hear you are taking care of him

If animals could compose music (on instruments), would their music sound alien to human ears, or is the "language" of music universal regardless of species?
(I'm not referring to music-like vocalizations such as whalesong or birdsong)
19 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
>>2368791
I doubt they'd be intelligent enough.
Even assuming they are, what makes music music to us is familiar patterns and progressions of chords.
The "language" of music is not 'universal'. Only humans are intelligent enough to recognize and appreciate patterns.
>>
It would sound terrible to us because it'd be the equivalent of a toddler smashing it's hands on a piano.

I could see some animals having a preference between our music though. Parrots dig heavy metal pretty hard. I also think they could understand some sort of flow. I wonder if they think guitar solos are part of our langauge.
>>
Well the range of hearing of species would affect how they perceive and respond to music. I imagine animals which can hear higher frequencies might get something extra out of electroacoustic and noise music. Dogs would thus be patricians.

What's the deal with girls and horses or whales/dolphins? Nine times out of ten if you ask one what her favorite animal is it will be one of these. I know it's a cliche or stereotype or whatever, but it really is true most of the time.

They're good animals, sure, but I don't see why they above any others warrant such an obsession.

I'm a man. A smart man.
And I like rats best. Male rats. With huge balls. This scares the prissy folk away extremely well, the ones you speak of.
>>
it's because of the upbringing.
if you'd give them drawing books and toys about sharks non stop they'd tell you later sharks are among their favorite animals.

same with dolls and other cliche shit

So there's no difference in mental facilities that would draw women to certain animals over others?

My qt just suddenly died after no more than 20 hours, i'm quite sad about it.

3 hours later found him on his back..

Looks like a fledling. They're dumb and it's usually best to leave them where they are if there's no immediate danger around because the parents are most likely near. Sorry you lost it, sometimes it just happens with them, could be it was injured by a cat or whatever before you found it.

I can't really afford my pet deposit at my apartment, but I was reading my lease and it only talks about cats and dogs.

Why even bother keeping a pig in your apartment? If you had a house with maybe a yard or something, but keeping a pig in an apartment just seems silly.

it acted exactly the way a tamed animal would. Tamed doesn't mean domesticated

tamed animals need to be regularly broken to keep them in check. They listen to you because they are afraid of you, not because they like you

>Want to have a dog but he would be alone in an apartment most of the day
>Don't want to be an egotistical asshole and make a dog unhappy

I want to adopt a dog from a shelter, so would it still be a dick move ? What are the chances of the dog being happier with me adopting him ?

>>2367891
An old, lazy, and aloof dog might be happy with that setup.
>>
>>2367891
A dog'd rather have you come back and sleep on your bed with you by night than stay in a shelter all day long.
You'll also have to at least walk him out before you leave, go on a long tiring walk when you come back, and a last time before bed, too.

your home > shelter

You could get two dogs so they have each other's company and can play with each other.

feed her the other two. then you don't need to worry about raising kittens.
>>
>>2367422

Spay your cat?

If she's eaten them, there's not much you CAN do. You could take the other two away from her and hand rear, but then you're getting into some deep waters and intensive work (which I'm guessing you're not prepared for), or you can let nature take its course and see if she'll accept the other two.
