On the next episode of My 60 lbs Life
They help kitty take a shit in the litter box?
I just loooove table food, but it's sooooo bad for me
:3
>>2369363
Could you lose 10 pounds by next week?
Ok /an/, I have an idea. Do you think it would be possible, to train an animal... to train other animals. Then the newly trained animals would go and train other animals, who would train even more animals, who would train yet more animals, and so on and so forth. Hypothetically, every single animal of that type in the world could obey your every command. World domination, anyone?
>>2369273
Rats will readily teach other rats about life skills, safety and foods they can eat.
But you can't train them to train others, however they play follow the leader readily when they witness something like litter training.
The spread of behavior is quite rapid, but no, you can't dominate the world with rats because they already dominated it.
I've been trying to learn a bit about quantum information.
I wonder if it can be said that natural selection is the act of life at the molecular level learning. Replication then could be analogized as memory.
But this is analogy. I'm not sure it would hold up as strict examples of the phenomenon.

They're lazy even by reptile standards. Watch them for any length of time and you understand why they live so long. Sit, blink every once in a while, fall asleep, wake up, blink a couple times, fall asleep again.

Sounds perfect. Where do I get one as a pet?
>Dinosaur
>Lepidosaur
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
My cat just has 4 kittens last night, we keep her out at a balcony most of the day. She already chose a place to have the babies and she will not move. Will the sunlight harm the kittens or my cat? What should I do?
are they vampire cats or is the balcony on mercury? if not, the sunlight shouldn't hurt them.
You should probably give them some shade.
I gave them shade and a fann is hitting them, should that be enough?
So i've just seen an American Goldfinch for the first time (say what you will) and was wondering if its viable as a "pet." by that I mean domesticated in a way as you would own, say, a parrot. Is that a thing or is it one of those birds that youre not supposed to? i.e. say like a Bluejay, or a Robin.
Scratch that, migratory birds act.
>>2368740
Dude just get a canary, it literally looks the same except for the black markings. You can't keep a migratory bird in a box.
Put a feeder out.
That particular bird needs a special feeder IIRC, they will perch, then hang upside down to feed.
It's cute to watch especially when other birds see a gold finch feeding then they try to do it and fall off repeatedly.
Redpill me on shibas, /an/.
Why they seem to have become so popular?
What's their appeal?
Are they good pets?
>>2368661
If you get a bunch of silly and cute pictures of anything it will be popular. Shibes got it easy because they are jap dogs and jap culture is the 'in' thing with hipsters. There is also the whole deal that they supposedly look like foxes, and people love foxes. Also, they are said to be like cats, and cats are already a very popular thing on the Internet. It's basically a trifecta for memes.
In reality they are very aloof dogs, and like cats, they will only sometimes acknowledge your existence. They are stubborn dogs, and coupled with their independent personality, they are hard to train. For whatever reason, the breed as a whole has a tendency towards resource guarding. They require a fair amount of exercise. They are not too keen on guests, and probably should not be left with kids. While they don't bark much, they do 'sing', which you should look into especially if you live in an apartment. They are intelligent, but it can also cause problems with getting into shit and issues in training. They do lick themselves 'clean', take that for what you will. That never appealed to me because they still need grooming and if they ever get in mud or some shit, they would still need a bath. Of course they are good pets for someone, but they apparently are not good pets for everybody because I see them and their mixes in shelters.

How do these sand dollars form so beautifully? Coincidence?
>>2368386
dna coding you dolt
what would be the economic implications of making our currency actually based on sand dollars
>>2368420
Counterfeiting would be an issue.
Not to mention they are also brittle, so storage in a wallet would be hard.
If you made an artificial sand dollar it might be better? You can easily in grave dollar amounts into a casting as well, plus anti-conterfeiting measures.
Mark is bea. Prove me wrong.
>>2367965
Because Bea is a town not a person.
Who /coyotepack/ here
I sure am
Thoughts on Kangaroos?
>>2367547
Apparently they're like deer in that they're fucking retarded and seek traffic suicide. I don't know about the meat though.
>>2367547
Put those activists in a room with a mob of kangas and let the lord sort it out
They're giant dumb animals with gorilla strength and razor sharp bear-like claws on their front legs. Their hind legs can basically break your body in half. They can also be incredibly aggressive.
Pretty scary animal desu.
I wanna buy a minnow from a bait shop and let it go in my bathtub in an inch of water so my cat can chase it around.
I think he'd love watching it and eventually be tempted enough to hop in the tub and chase it.
Any thoughts, /an/? Is it safe? I don't want him to get any parasites.
Also I started treating him with a sardine each day. They are tinned in water.
>>2366310
I don't know about parasite rates, but I would bet feeder minnows or goldfish meant for feeding pet fish from a pet store would be safer.
>>2366310
They have a chance to have parasites. If you're willing to take this risk then please give your cat away. You seem like one of those "for fucks sake it's just a fish" people anyway so anything you say is moot.
>>2366319
And you seem like the type of person that blows things way out of proportion if your advice is to get rid of the cat because there is a CHANCE that it MIGHT get sick from a fucking minnow.
i'll start
I think we should breed land isopods to that they are much larger.
>>2369799
Or you could go to the deep sea
Would they come with a certificate?
>>2369803
Looks like an enlarged wood louse
How often do you brush your doggo's teeth, /an/?
>>2369690
>never brushed dog's teeth
>she's 12 now
>constantly paying for rotten teeth being pulled
>every time I try to brush her teeth she squeals
I don't know what to do.
>>2369690
Twice daily like our dentist recommends. Been slacking on flossing her lately, only do it 3 or 4 times a week
>>2369701
Prolly better than nothing if brushing isn't an option
I happened upon some birds having sex today. It was really weird because they were chickadees and all chickadees look the same (not being racist, it's just the truth). So it got me wondering how do animals tell each other apart and find another member of their species to be attractive when there's nothing to really set them apart. Like do these lustful chickadees have preferences in who they score with or is it just an "I need somebody, you're here so you'll do" kind of thing? I wonder what turns them on to the point they agree to mate because honestly I'm watching this and they look so much the same I couldn't even tell the male from the female until one jumped on the other. So how does it look through their eyes? What are they seeing that we're not? Do they notice the talons on one look particularly more enticing than on another? Can they even find something like that sexy? What is going through their minds? I think that would be an interesting thing to study but it's something we can never know.
>>2369540
Smell and sounds are indicators of sex in species when there is no visible sexual dimorphism
you are, in fact, just being a racist. Might as well say all Chinese people look alike
>>2369540
songs you dummy. why do you think they are songbirds?
So i just saw the videos of petco abusing their animals... is this legit?? I just bought a few things from there too. Feels kinda bad
>>2369457
Yes it is true!!! Petco store managers gather around on All-Hallow's Eve and plot how their employees can abuse animals.
>>2369464
Well i understand that that in itself varies from store to store, but i was mainly referring to the treatment of small animals from their suppliers. Is that real? Idk peta seems like such a joke nowadays idk wat i can take seriously
>>2369469
it's true. basically all chain pet stores do it. what do you mean by abuse though? chain pet stores abuse by not giving pets the right conditions and space and stuff. if you mean literally hitting the animals then I don't think they do that
