hey guys, i want some exotic but also cuddly animal, what would you recommend?
20 posts and 5 images submitted.
>>
Get some exotic breed of dog or something.
>>
get a fish
>>
I would suggest a bird, they can be very sweet if handled correctly. If you've never owned a bird before then I would suggest something easy like a Budgie.

I am doing a lot of research before getting a dog (I am going to adopt) and was wondering what food would be best (in both value and quality) for a young dog (around 2 months) and for an adult dog. For the adult I think that the "taste of the wild" or whatever would be a decent food but am not sure. Also, should I get anything other than the standards (leash, food dishes, dog bed, crate, toys for teething and play) that most people find useful/wish they would have bought before hand?

It's really hard to find decent dog foods. There is so much advertising going on that it's hard to know who's being honest vs those that were bought out. I suggest reading the ingredients and before buying, look into dog nutrition
From what I know;
>Do not buy dog food that doesn't specify the type of meat/fat
Dog food companies are allowed to use cat and dog in their food, and cannibalism is actually very unhealthy especially if it's the main diet. Meats and fats should be labeled cow, pig, etc.
>Needs a good amount of protein
Dogs can get all of the energy they need from protein, although they can also break down and use carbs too. Make sure at least the first ingredient is a meat
>Avoid corn
Corn is most often the culprit behind grain related allergies in dogs. Easier to just avoid it
>Avoid by-products
By products is pretty much the parts of an animal or grain you'd never think was possible to eat
>Avoid sweeteners
Usually labled as grain fragments
>Whole Fruit, Veggies and Grains
If it's going to have them, make sure they are whole (keeps more vitamin) and not refined.
>Stay away from recalled foods
Any company that is known for recalls or recalled recently you should try to avoid. Besides the obvious potential to kill your dog, it's also not fun having to make a 100% instant dietary change to a dog.

Things I have no clue about;
>Is there an advantage of feeding wet vs dry or vice versa?
>Is there a difference to look out for in ingredients of wet and dry?
>I have no fucking clue about the legitimacy of store brand raw dog food
>Is there a kind of meat to stay away from? Should fish be avoided because of potential Mercury poisoning?
>How much non meat and fat should make up the ingredients?
>>
Taste of the wild is pretty good when you're on a budget. I use it. The duck (grey bag), bison (yellow), and boar (red) flavors are the best in terms of nutrition. The boar is a little too rich for my dog though, gives him the protein shits no matter how slowly I transition. The other flavors are okay nutritionally, but those are the best three.

When I start making better money I'm going to buy merrick or natures logic though.
>>
>>2431628
Also, taste of the wild has a puppy version of the bison and fish flavors, I think. Bison would be the way to go.

Wet v dry: wet is more expensive but will have better macro ratios. People will tell you dry kibble cleans teeth, but it's simply not true and if you want clean teeth brush them.

Mercury poisoning will never be a problem with dry food that had fish in it. I doubt it'll be that way for wet food either, but you should regularly rotate flavors anyway.

Also, OP, don't invest too much time in toys right now if you're getting a puppy. They'll destroy them and you'll go through a lot. The best toy for teething I had for my puppy was a collection of frozen washcloths. Have three or four in the freezer and rotate them out.

Same for a bed. My puppy went through three beds before I finally plopped his ass on a foam bathmat and told him that was it until his adult teeth were in. They're little and don't weigh much so while a big fluffy bed is obviously more comfy, a foam bath mat won't put too much stress on their joints when they're laying down.

Discuss anything aquarium related here, including inhabitants, decor and issues.

Google is your friend.
Feel free to ask questions but know that there are a lot of resources out there that could answer your question a lot faster and accurately than /an/.

Make sure to include these things in your post before asking because we can't help you if we don't have the full picture:
-tank size (include dimensions, not just volume)
-parameters (ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, pH, GH, KH)
-any and all inhabitants + how long you've had them

Which extinct species would you like to see brought back? (via cloning)

I reckon we owe it to the Thylacine (Tasmanian Tiger) to bring it back after we (humans) drove it to extinction. Even the last known individual died due to neglect in 1936.

>>
My most reasonable candidate for de extinction is the dodo. They seem like cool fellas.
Dream animals would be that marine gharial from New Guinea, those terrestrial crocs from Fiji, and the meiolaniane turtles. Throw in megalania while you're at it, it's never happening anyway.

Another candidate is the Moa. It only became extinct in the 1400s and there are lots of surviving remnants (eggs, tissues etc.) . There's probably a more realistic chance of cloning them as opposed to mammoths

>>2421916

yeh dodos sound nice. They sound like animals that humans normally love, it weird that we wiped them out

My cat always bites and kneads my clothes. What would be the meaning of this?
7 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>2433209
It likes you and hence your smell. My old cat used to curl up on my worn clothes if it got a chance.
>>
>>2433217
Cats are incapable of love/affection.

It is more than likely a chemical scent that the cat is picking up on the clothes such as a perfume causing a semi involuntary reaction.
>>
>>2433209
It's trying to assert its dominance. Don't let it get the upper paw.

hey /an/, should I feel bad for not wanting to let my cat outdoors? My family thinks I'm basically a sadist for never letting my cat outside, even though he always wanders off into other peoples' yards across the street, hides when you go looking for him. 5 years ago they let my cat out and he was ran over and killed. Another cat was was mauled to death by dogs. I don't fucking get it, it's like it won't click in their heads that it's a bad idea to let your pets out when it's clearly too dangerous until all of their pets are dead.

normies are retarded and it's impossible to even discuss the problems of outdoor cats with them because they'll proceed to anthropomorphise the fuck outta them and say shit like "it's natural for a cat to be outside and murder the local fauna!" or "imagine how you would feel like!"
