HELP ME PLEASE
i'm dogsitting, and this dog is apparently really aggessive at the sight of my hand
we feed him alpo, he's a boxer, he's never been trained and has accidentally broken a woman's ribs because she has osteoperosis, and he loves giving hugs. i'm considering bringing him to the vet, he has lots of toys and is housetrained. i have him locked outside right now but i'm absolutely terrified of him and want to get to my pot, which is 10 steps distance from the front door.
he has a doggy brother, which is totally chill. for backstory, i have known this dog for the last year, he's never shown aggression to females at all, and i stayed over here for a night with no problems. when i woke up this morning, he was growling at nothing. looking right above me and snarling. once he stoppped, i went to pet him and he latched onto my hand and started biting and snarling. i screamed ( because i'm scared of dogs) and he let go. now i have him outside. what should i do? i've been completely nice to him, avoiding looking him in the eyes and letting him be the dominant party, was this a mistake?

Chickens "don't fly" either, but my younger or more spry birds can clear a 6' fence easily. My banty hens had absolutely no problem clearing the 8' fence to get out of their enclosure.

Hey /an/
Recently my dog was in her estrus cycle, which seemed prolonged. Now her vulva is still swollen and is now producing a yellow-brown foul smelling odor. I brought her to the pet emergency room the same day, and according to them the X-Ray and ultrasound "didn't show anything obvious". Other than that though it's definitely a bacterial infection, confirmed by microscope they found WBCs and bacteria, as well as RBCs in her drainage. The swab cultures won't be ready for a few days. My concern is that she has Pyometra, but they weren't able to firmly diagnose her with this and so they sent us home with oral antibiotics. Should I get a second opinion? It was to my understanding the best treatment is to get them spayed, however the doctor I spoke to said it would be better to get the infection under control with some antibiotics before a surgery. So far other than the discharge she is pretty asymptomatic. Her behavior is the same, no signs of pain and her abdomen isn't distended. I'm concerned because its my understanding that pyometra can get really bad quick.
Has anyone had a similar experience? What should I do?

If you are ever in doubt always get a second opinion. If you're right and it is Pyometra, it can turn deadly very quickly. The more swollen it gets, the harder it will be to deal with.

I suppose I should, we went to the vet last night. Her vulva seems less swollen, so hopefully the antibiotics are working. I'll get a surgical marker and circle around the inflammation to see if it spreads or decreases. Its just that I have spent a lot of money in the pet ER yesterday. Also she still puts out scant drainage, so its definitely not closed Pyometra. Her temperature is normal too, no abdominal distention.
I work in nursing, so I'm treating her like a patient as my boss gave me the day off to take care of her. I just hope taking things into my own hands will be okay for her.

I don't know what to do. My 4 year old cat has always been so energetic, and has always been an indoor cat. I've lived in 3 different apartments since I've had him, on two of them he was able to go "outside" because we had a small fenced backyard. The problem is that on the one we're renting now he's able to escape and roam on the roof. I have no idea what's there because it has bars, but I'm sure it's not safe in case he falls or something. I live in the middle of the city and he has no experience being outdoors.
But he's unbearable, he keeps crying for hours, scratches the windows to be let out. He has scratching posts, toys, etc. I think he just likes to explore. I did let him out for a few hours the other day but I got so damn worried I couldn't stand it. I don't know what to do to make him stop. We have another cat who doesn't even care. I don't understand why he has so much energy.

Is it bad if a black lab only eats food meant for little dogs? The vet said mine was underweight when my family took him a year ago. And we haven't taken him for awhile but i dont know he still is. I tried buying food for big dogs but my little brother and sister made a big deal because it was pedigree and they started arguing that he didnt need that food. Does a dog necessarily need food meant for its size? Or is a black lab even really on the big dog category?

Seriously, if he has good levels of energy (take him out and if he's not lethargic he's fine) and is happy then he's fine. Little dog food likely has all the nutrients that big dog food has (depends on the brand comparisons but they are all dogs, bar breed specific food), just in smaller bags.
If you can see his ribs slightly when he's standing that is good. His hips, I can tell from this pic have plenty of weight on them.
You can't expect massive muscle definition because I'm guessing based on his size, he was castrated early on, he's a lab and he isn't physically trained for it.
He really looks healthy here, so don't make your dog obese or overweight, smaller body weight is less stress on every single part of the body.

What to do? I want to bring him back to health, but i'm afraid if i take him to the vet, they will report my uncle for animal abuse. If he gets locked in jail, i will be the one to take care of the kids and i just ... can't... Even if he gets a fine, he won't be able to pay it and i'll end up paying for it or he'll end up locked anyway for not being able to pay it.
I just want to have my good boy back.
