I'd say don't start lifting until you have a reasonable bmi. Muscles need calories to build, and that's precisely what you need less of. This is what many bodybuilders do, they "bulk" (eat a bunch of calories to gain muscle) and then "cut" (eat less to trim the fat and accentuate the muscles). Once you hit around 210-ish, then start lifting and bulking.
