Being tall can actually be a detriment, depending on how your look. Not everyone over 6' has the same build; if you've got the broad shouldered/barrel chest body type and you're taller than most of the people in the room you look less handsome than looming and dangerous.

Because height is attractive to women, being tall is ideal. However, it is not the be-all-end-all and average-height and even short guys can still be attractive. It's like a woman with small breasts. She's not the ideal, but if she's got a nice face or body nobody's going to complain.

In short, it's not healthy to live in denial and pretend that height isn't attractive, but you shouldn't obsess over it, either.
