Sup guys, I'm 18 and live with my parents. They're super conservative, and know nothing about technology. Anyways, I pirated a porn vid, and now for the first time my parents got an email from our internet provider that I infringed Brazzers or some shit. How screwed am I? Will I need to go along with the settlement they linked (and threaten to do worse if I don't do that), or is it just a warning? Thanks guys.

It will, most likely, be a warning.

Same thing happened to me when I torrented some bangbros vids. You just can't torrent anymore until you move out/get a new ISP.

If they are technology noobys, tell them you got hacked or something of a sort .
>>
>>16864969
Did your email mention about settlements with the company, that need to be done before a certain date? Cos that's whats got me worried.
>>
>>16864976
Yeah, I can explain it away, its just that if we need to go through a settlement or something they'd have to find out.

No, century link just had a popup everytime anyone would open an internet browser, and once we went through the warning, agreed to never illegally download anything again, it stopped. It could be different in your case, but again, it really shouldn't be that big of a deal. They MIGHT fine you a couple hundred dollars, but that's about it.

Fuck, I hope not. Anyways, thanks for the help man.
>>

Ignore it. These people sent out hundreds of mails every day in hoping that they would reel in someone. And some fools would consistently pays up.

They only pursue people that actually responded or repeated downloaders that 'most likely' wasn't downloading by accident. They'll need a court order to take legal action on you and they don't want to waste money on the lawyers if its a false positive.

Fuckin awesome, thanks a lot anon. Now I've just got to convince my parents the email was some kind of scam...which, in a sense it was.

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
