She's not gonna make it bro. I had this same issue with my ex and with another girl friend of mine that wanted help getting fit. For some reason girls seem to think that "eating better" and a "jog a few times a week" will make a difference. Counting calories and a regular workout plan is the only way thats surefire.
DESU eating better is more important. Also I don't know that starting both at the same is a good idea. You get more of an appetite when you're active, which makes it harder to keep away from the fridge.
