How do I entertain fellow adults at a party?
I'm 26 and going to have a buddy (30) and his wife (31) over for dinner and wine in a few weeks. He and I have been friends for 10 years but exclusively talk through Steam or video games. The two of them don't really have friends and only play video games for fun, and tend to lack lots of social skills.
Given all that, how on earth can I make this a fun evening for the three of us? A board game? Arm wrestling? I mean, I'm the host of the party but I'm also the third wheel, so it can't be a date situation. Help!
>>18577417
I've been to 'proper adult' dinner parties and there just tends to be a lot of sitting around and talking, especially about 'adult' topics like politics
>>18577417
Fire up the old ps4 and do a playthrough of Bloodborne together, switching off the controller each time one of you dies.
>>18577417
Board games are good for people like this for sure
How do I get the courage to actually set up my online dating profile?
I'm trying OKCupid despite what R9K says about it being nothing but landwhales, tumblrinas, SJWs, and preggos.
The thing is I'm incredibly nervous about putting my picture and description.
I feel like I won't get matched with anyone or just with bottom of the barrel girls. I'm not looking for sex or anything like that, but just a meaningful relationship.
I think it might stem from lack of self-esteem. I look at semi-cute girls' profiles and absolutely cannot see myself in their lives. A not so good looking fat loser like me...
This is pretty much my last shot and if it doesn't work out I'm worried I might die alone...
Help
1. Give us some info on you. Are you employed? Live alone? Financial situation?
2. Why have traditional methods of meeting people failed?
3. What do you enjoy doing? Do you like dogs, economics, history... photography?
4. Seems like your main self-esteem problem is your weight. What have you tried, and why hasn't it worked?
>>18577566
1. Employed, full time. Everyone I work with is either in a relationship or married. Still love with parents since I can't support myself on my paycheck just yet (car payments etc). Doing ok though
2.School/ work. I'm too nervous to pick up women. I always feel like I'd be bothering them if I talk to them off the street or something.
3. kind of autistic but I have a rock collection and like going outdoors hunting for rocks. I also play piano and I like movies
4. Tried working out and slimmed down but then I got hired and gained it all back. I also feel little motivation to work out since I go to the gym and just feel exhausted after small workouts (not 300 lbs or anything like that, I'm like 200's)
1. Good. Stop wasting money on that thing you shouldn't be wasting money on until you're independent, and start saving up.
2. (this might be harsh or spergy) Ok fine. Bother them. Who gives a fuck? You used the words "DIE ALONE." That's pretty serious. For me, that'd be worth fighting for. It's certainly worth getting rejected for. The best advice I ever read on talking to random girls is that it's not REALLY your concern for them or their time that's making you timid; it's your ego. You don't want to be seen as creepy or bothersome. Let go of that.
3. Join groups for those things. The more people around you the better.
4. Let's kill 3 and 4 with the same stone here (depending on your location) join a hiking group and hunt for rocks. Meetup.com has some in your area, probably. Go hiking and talk to people. You might be slow or you might be embarrassed, but it's a start.
4b. Working out IS hard. Try eating better. Reduce the amount of carbs and sugars you intake. Try to get it close to zero. You'll slim down more than you expect.
What would be better, signing up for one class at 8:00am once a week or one class that's twice a week at 6:00pm?
>>18577390
which one fits your job hours and sleeping schedule better? I would personally go for the 6 pm ones.
>>18577394
I don't like being out at night but I think doing two classes a week sounds better than 1 class a week. What do you think?
>>18577404
6:00pm is hardly night, actually sounds quite chill to me
What are some good tips for writing an effective Tinder bio that doesn't put women off?
>>18577355
Is this you? If so, you're attractive AF dude, no reason to worry.
>>18577372
Yes, but I don't get many matches and get ghosted by literally everyone. Here's an example from yesterday. I thought this conversation was going well, and then she's just gone all of a sudden, never to be heard from again.
I don't understand women and dating, and I am starting to feel like I should just give up.
>>18577377
Bugs.. go easy on the paragraphs
Realistically, what percentage of Western men under 30 right now are the kind of ostracized blackpilled outcasts you see on this website and many others? Are there going to be more of them as time goes on?
No one knows
No one cares
Move on
what does blackpilled mean i like the word but i don't know what it means
>>18577743
Embittered about life.
>>18577736
Why shouldn't this be worth studying?
Women of /adv/, how many instances of orgasm-less sex would it take for you to end a fuckbuddy scenario with a man?
>>18577342
2 if in succession
otherwise it depends on the time in between those
Why 2 specifically? Would you dump a boyfriend for that?
What is working in a gas station like? I'm thinking of applying to pic related.
my old rommate did it when he knocked up his girlfriend
>random as fuck hours
>you need to work during snow, rain, extreme heat
>not everybody tips
>keep yourself awake at 3am
>fucking niggers
>still minimum wage
i suggest looking elsewhere. food. retail. anything else.
>>18577327
If you ever had a customer service or retail job it is basically the same thing. You have the regular you get to know. The ones near me are all self-serving too and only one dude runs the place for 12 hr shifts
Wouldn't recommend.
>Worst hours ever, mess up your chances of having social life
>Most prone to shootings and robberies
>Working Holidays
Literally any job is better than convenience store or gas station
Is it a good idea to go to a small (less than 10 people) party if
>I've been feeling down lately
>my crush will be there, but so will the guy who she's actually interested in
>I suck at socializing anyway and barely know those people
I have a strong feeling I shouldn't bother, at best I'd just sit in the corner like always, at worst I'd do something stupid, but on the other hand I think I should socialize more.
What do you think?
>>18577278
The sooner you ask your crush on date, the sooner you can stop beta orbiting her and find real gf instead when she finally rejects you.
>>18577304
I don't even talk to her anymore
>>18577345
Then why did you use word crush? What else is wrong with your life?
How do I get over my misogyny? I've been treated badly by women since childhood so I tend to treat them horribly by default.
>>18577266
Our brain is great at protecting us. Millions of years of evolution developed a brain that can expertly avoid pain and danger. One of the ways it does that is by making a note of times when you were hurt or perceived you were in danger, and it tries to avoid those situations in the future. It's great at doing this because it makes assumptions and generalizations. When we were out in the wild, risking life and death every day, this was a fantastic way of keeping us safe. Better to be safe and live another day than risk losing everything.
We no longer live in a world where our survival and physical safety is constantly threatened. Unfortunately, we've still got a brain geared towards that. We still have assumptions, prejudices, generalizations. They help keep us safe, but more often than not, these days they also keep us from connecting.
It's good to recognize that your current interactions with women are tainted by your past. Awareness is great! Awareness is the first step of stopping your thought process and giving you the ability to rise above your amygdala and use other parts of your brain to open yourself up to connecting with other people
>>18577266
>How do I get over my misogyny? I've been treated badly by women since childhood so I tend to treat them horribly by default.
Get some therapy. The fact that you know your behavior is illogical is the first step to fixing it. Work towards addressing your dysfunctional thought patterns and changing them, not validating them through confirmation bias.
>>18577266
Go to therapy. Work through your issues.
On the short term, just stop yourself when you realize what you are doing. No need to apologize or try to fix things up. As long as you stop when you see you are being unfair, you are on the right track.
Paying mom rent.
>23 years old
>live with mom and little brother, 12
>hard time finding job
>living rent free for a year
>help out with chores
>help out A TON with little brother
>mom gives me $3k to buy a car
>finally get a job a week after car in a retail store
>mom has license suspended
>i drive her around without question since she bought the car
>any random walmart trip or to a restaurant an hour away
>she brings in about 2k a month
>rent is 1k a month
>i ask her for $ for her half of phone bill just now
>comes down on me
>says i have to pay the entire $200 insurance (first timer, New Jersey)
>i have to pay her half of phone bill, total $120
>says this month i need to start paying rent
>im still earning minimum wage and got my first check 2 weeks ago
>hours fluctuate and i'm part time so i can guarantee anything
am i ok to be upset about this?
Idk man do you think she's trying to turn the heat up so that you move out?
1. Yeah be upset about it. sucks.
2. Get another job. ASAP. Do night shifts somewhere. Doesn't matter. Get cash coming in.
3. Pay the damn rent.
4. Pay off the car.
5. Drive e l s e w h e r e.
6. Get a job there.
I don't care how old you are. SHE isn't your responsibility. You are.
3.
>>18577196
If you pay the bills you set the budget.
>says i have to pay the entire $200 insurance (first timer, New Jersey)
And you bill her for the gas you use driving her around.
>i have to pay her half of phone bill, total $120
time to drop to a cheaper month to month plan or drop the fancy ass smartphone all together
>says this month i need to start paying rent
You are now the lord the thermostat and light switch. Keep the place 82 in the summer and 62 in the winter since you are paying for it.
>mom has license suspended
This is the biggest issue. I suspect drug/alcohol problems. Do what>>18577205 suggests and stash cash to get out.
What are some studies that are relatively short and which will grant me a job ? I'm 23, i don't know what to do with my life.
Go to a trade school.
I've seen some folks do well with a coding bootcamp. Only do that if you've got the mind for it.
Go to some blue collar businesses like welders and ask if they'll take on apprentices.
You work, earn your keep and learn.
>>18577169
Second.
Lots of jobs get phased out, but stuff like mechanics, plumbers, carpenters, etc, are probably gonna be around for a while, and they tend to pay fairly well.
How do I live with the fact people 6-8 years younger than me are millionaires and will live a fantastic life while I'll be lucky to land a 6 figure job by the time I'm 30 and it'll require me to work like a fucking madman?
>>18577136
because the person you are jealous of is a literal one in a million, so it's kind of a waste
Keep on working, you'll get there someday. Work hard and start working more. I believe in you.
>>18577143
>I believe in you
So insidiously funny
How are you supposed to go on dates and have a girl around when you live with your parents and don't drive? I met this qt at work and got her number and I'm considering asking her out for dinner or something, But, I'm 21 and never learned to drive, I always take the bus where I need to go because it goes literally everywhere here (grid system streets). So I can't pick a girl up for a date or anything. I also live with my grandparents and I'm sure I could bring someone home but I don't want to be disrespectful and bring home someone that isn't my "girlfriend", they're very old fashioned. And it's such a small house I can't "sneak" anyone in, not exactly like I'd want to though.
>>18577119
can't you just meet there?
if the bus goes everywhere, she won't have trouble getting there if she can't drive either
you also don't have to bring her home, for the first few times just meet somewhere outside or go to her place, if she's into you, she probably won't mind waiting a little before seeing your place
good on you for respecting your grandparents btw
>>18577131
That's true, I guess I'm just so caught up in the "I'll pick you up at 7" mentality from media and whatnot
>>18577140
yeah, I get that, and if you can, that's a nice offer, but to me it would be weird (and kind of unnerving) tobe picked up by someoneI barely know, so don't sweat it
is it dangerous to keep thrusting inside my gf pussy after i cum?
It better not be.
>>18577115
we could need some more info here?
are you using a condom? have you pulled out before?
why do you think it might be?
>>18577118
why :o
>>18577122
no condom, no pull out.
>why do you think it might be?
i don't get the question
How is it that normies can do things without thinking twice and always be succesful while I constantly have to think shit through and still get it wrong
>>18577073
Because normies aren't real and they are only a construct you've developed as a part of your routine thought processes to represent anyone who is better at doing certain things than you are. Instead of using the success of other people as a catalyst to learn and assimilate you create distance between them and yourself with arbitrary labels and bitterness.
Its the same reason that "Stacy" doesn't exist and is actually just an amalgamation of every girl in high school that didn't want to have sex with you. The truth is that people don't necessarily have an easier time being successful they are just better able to process failure and disappointment and turn that into forward movement as where you instead prefer to sit back and hate a bunch of people for being successful rather than try to apply their knowledge to your own life.
You have convinced yourself that a 4chan meme is actual real life and, as a result, your life has suffered due to your inability to ground yourself in rational thought. The farther you wander towards the the real world, away from toxic 4chan mentality and dysfunctional thinking patterns, the more sense your failures will start to make.
>>18577073
because they've done it before, so they just do it again. you sheltered your self so every time you try something new you say 'WELP THAT WENT WRONG GUESS I BETTER NEVER DO IT AGAIN' and dont give your self a chance to improve.
normies also fuck up a LOT more than you think you just never fucking hear about it because why would they share it? we only share here cuz its anonymous.
my roommate is a total fucking chad, dudes so handsome I insert him into any fantasy I have of a girl getting fucked. but hes such a sperg sometimes its hilarious. this happened yesterday
>were holding auditions
>hes just looking at his phone cuz no ones been in for about an hour
>looking at rick and morty behind the scenes videos
>he thinks the creators are assholes, but finds them humorous
>says 'gotta love assholes' out loud
>'uhm... hi?' a girl walks in, confused by him just saying that as she entered
made me kek.
>two days ago he stops by rite aid
>hes tired but were filming all night that night
>he just stops in to get some resses
>gets in line with a hot girl
>chats her up
>her 'oh i love resses, but im just getting a few things before going to bed'
>him 'I'll trade resses cups for going to bed'
>awkward silence
>her 'no thank you...'
>he has to stand in line with her for another awkward silence of five minutes.
>>18577073
They don't you're just hyper focused on what you're doing and all your fuck ups are usually only viewed by you. We are always our own worst critique. Let up and realize literally every person on earth is a fucking idiot goof who makes mistakes every day. If they try and say they're not, they're lying. Laugh at yourself and have fun nigger.
