You might condition yourself like Pavlov's dog- give yourself a small reward every time you complete a task that benefits you in a small way. Do it really, really consistently and it will have an impact in a few months. Reward yourself for just one specific activity at first, then keep expanding.

Begin with what willpower you have, push it to 1/4 you maximum, take time to adjust to 1/4 maximum then increase to 1/2 maximum, take time to adjust to that then increase to whatever you are comfortable with until you reach your maximum and are comfortable at it.By taking time to adjust i mean take at least 4 weeks of consistently putting in the corresponding fraction of effort you are on. Thing with willpower is that the best way to get out of it is by having willpower. Pick something, anything, that requires you to concentrate, get better over time, get exhausted, learn something, etc. You have to somewhat like it, but at the same time not really want to do it. Something like sports, reading, learning a language, and so on. After you picked that, make a schedule and stick to it. I know you've probably tried it already and it failed, but seriously, there's no other way out. Even if you fail, try it again and again. You'll find that once you've done these kind of things a couple of times, the willpower will come naturally.

Having said that without any context it's also possible that she got very frustrated because your viewpoint is very common nowadays. And whereas it's pretty obvious that parents should split if there's a toxic home environment, it is also clear that kids suffer bad consequences from divorce and that many people also split because "the spark is gone" etc. So my guess would be that this tends to enfuriate your friend who finds it selfish and short-sighted etc, and when you as her friend expressed that you also feel this way, you became their spokesperson in her eyes more or less.

If you look around here you see a lot of people projecting stuff onto others ("let me guess, you're the type of loose slut/bitter virgin who...") because it feels good being able to pretend that the very archetype of the person you hate is reading it and you can finally get your shot in. While the real emotion is not aimed towards individual opinions or people, but towards how popular a certain way of thinking is.

Come in with a written letter of resignation, thanking them for the position, the opportunity to learn, and wishing them the best in their future. There's a lot of templates that are easily Googled. Include your last day available for employment - it should be two weeks from when you resign.

Before handing over the note, speak with the manager privately, and apologize that you left them with the wrong impression that you were going to stay, but unexpected circumstances led to you having a larger courseload than expected. Avoid thinking that the relationship between you and an employer is anything more than that of an employee. You'll avoid a lot of problems in the future with that. Your relationship with coworkers as people is different than your work relationship imo. I have little doubt that once you quit a lot of the people you were super work BFFs with will barely talk to you as the one thing you had in common (work) won't be there anymore but I have had friendships with coworkers that kept going after I quit.

Honestly though the best way to go about it is simply talk to your boss that you have to quit and that you'll stay on for 2 more weeks which is the standard length of time for quitting. If they can't find a replacement in 2 weeks then that's their fault and you shouldn't feel guilty about that. If they let you go before that then that's that.
