Hi /adv/, i'm a 26 yo male going trough a dilema, for the first time in life, i've been day dreaming about getting married and building a family, at the same time, i have no ideia on how to achieve this, like... literally no ideia, i fail to imagine how people can spend their entire life together.
The longest relationship i've been in lasted a bit more than 3 years and i was pretty much over her by the time we broke, some friends of mine are already divorced, i don't really have vast examples of sucessful relationships in my life, so i want to ask you guys, how can i possible spend the rest of my days with a woman and be actually interested/attracted to her during all this time? Does eternal love really exist or people stay together motivated by other purposes? I'm doomed to be miserable no matter the choice i make? i'd really like to suggest a book to you, but unfortunately it's only available in german. there's one that has a similar approach, but at the end, the author kind of zones out. if you read up to that point and really understand what he's getting at, then you're set to have a functional marriage for a long time. it's by david schnarch. it's based on bowen's systemic family therapy model and one of the best approaches psychology has to tackle relationship issues so far. plus schnarch is also a sex therapist, whoch proves helpful since sex is a big part in a lifelong relationship.

Well first off I'd like to thank everyone for making the trip out to be here for mike and James on their special day as well as the parents for footing the bill and supporting them as well as myself on the cruise cuz I wouldn't be able to have nearly as much fun if they hadn't. So I'd like to propose a toast to them as well.
As most of you probably know, mike and I are brothers, and I know best man speeches are supposed to have some funny anecdote about the groom but to be totally honest its hard for me to recall a story about Michael and I growing up that didn't involve him annoying the hell out of me; so I'll just skip that part.
It's no secret amongst my family that mike liked to stir the pot, and I'd be lying if I said that James hadn't struck a nerve in me as well on occasion. but that's just what growing up with brothers is like at times. We bicker, we disagree. but at the end of the day mike will always be my brother and ive come to view James the same way. the love that they've shown me and the love they share for each other is far more important and stronger than any petty argument that we might have and I know that they'll make each other extremely happy and will always be there for each other just as I will for them.

I've had insomnia for as long as I can remember but it's really starting to add up. My cognitive abilities are starting to deteriorate, and it's just adding to the mounds of anxiety and severe depression I already have. What are some trick /adv/ can give to an insomniac? Thats going to sound like sarcasm but when an insomniac tries to sleep, he TRIES to sleep. Sleep is supposed to be natural but you will lay there and try to not think about anything. Its inevitable that you will lay there and think so you might as well do it intentionally. Try it out!

I pretty much have a 100% record of bad experience when it comes to girls.
My first gf cheated on me, a few years later another bitch toyed with me for a few months just to dump me when we are about to finally date, and started dating a new guy like a week later. the next girl was real nice, but I missed my chance and another dude asked her out a day before I did.
I can elaborate on these cases and others but you get my drift.
I CANNOT GET A BREAK.
About a month ago I was approached by this amazing girl from my university . despite all the shit I've been through I didn't give up, even though I thought about it a great deal, I always kept getting back up.
this is the first time a girl approaches me like that, so I took my chance and got her phone number before the summer break. we each went back to our homes but promised to meet when we got back.
like before she was the one who immediately started our conversion (via texts) and we have been talking ever since. it's been great, and she is amazing.
this time the problem is not her, it's me. she got sick, and later hospitalized, so of course we won't get to that date anytime soon.
Now I know the logical thing is to just wait it out (I cannot go see her) , we still talk and all is good, but my fucking mind, and baggage keeps putting me down. I feel like I'm having so many clashing emotions all the time... so paranoid about this blowing up again, but constantly happy and convincing myself that it's going great (because it really is!)
I feel like if this chance passes me by again I will lose it for real.
any tips on keeping it together?

Visiting a girl when she's sick in hospital is the absolutely best way to gain relationship points! The only other thing comparable to this is fending of thugs during a date!
Find a way to secretly visit her, or arrange a special flower bouquets to her ward frequently. If some other guy actually regularly visited her instead, this is actually going to be another example in your long history of relationship fuck ups.

So, here's the deal. I'm 21, I've spent 3 years in community college studying engineering, hoping to transfer to a university. But I dicked around like a lazy ass and got mediocre grades and ended up with a 3.0. I've already been denied to my university of choice. Being in a community college is rotting my fucking soul, and now I'm starting my FOURTH year here to wrap up an AS in science this semester.
I'm fucking sick of everything. I have no social life, no girlfriend and no real friends. You can't make friends in a CC. My prime youth is slipping past me, and it's killing me that I'm not doing with it. I was hoping if I could get into a university I could have a better shot at a social life but that's just not looking like that could happen unless I switch majors, in which case I don't know what the fuck I could switch to. I don't know what majors would accept a 3.0, and I'm concerned I just don't have the work ethic for college anyway. I'm running out of money, too. All this shit is weighing down on me hard and I'm seriously considering saying fuck it and enlisting in the air force.
I don't know what I'm expecting with this thread but I have literally nobody to turn to for advice at the moment, not even my parents. I am so directionless at the moment, just any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

The second tier state uni was the one reknowned for having a good engineering program and that's the one I got denied to. Also I live very close to it anyway. I'm hoping if it's possible to still get into there with a less demanding major.

So I am working for this small comany working in the mining industry. I am doing work on this guys land to keep his mining rights up, but the lands also controlled by the small companies competitor. Company A has the placer rights Company B has the hard rock. Company A wants to sell there rights to Company B while Company B just wants A to go die in a fire and take the rights another way.
So B finds out I am working for A and offers me an amazing $50 an hour gig doing basic labour, in exchange I would have to quit working for A and not take on any work else where. I'd wanted to work for B for years but didnt want to just quit A, I finish what I start. When B managers hear that they said they would rescind the offer and I might never get another shot at working there. B has given me a week to choose who to go with, I already know I am staying with A but is it the right choice, B could be my foot in the door to a long lasting job and stability finally. What Do?
