Personally, I think she has a lot of underlying tensions in the relationship and with herself. Firstly, she isn't exactly trusting. She trusts me, but she has this strange belief that I'm much more attractive than her, even though it's not true. I feel like this makes her feel insecure w/ the female attention I get (or, rather, she dreams of), but I never do anything inappropriate (I have no female friends I hang with one-on-one, I don't text other girls, flirt, go clubbing, etc.) Secondly, she generally has been feeling a bit down lately, which could contribute. Thirdly, and lastly, she is naturally passive-aggressive and get overtly-defensive when I ask her to address it - she doesn't even try.

I'm not trying to "win" arguments, but I always like it if we take something away from it to avoid it happening as often, but this is impossible as she either refuses, or more likely devolves into self-loathing.

We're engaged, not that that stops the possibility of Chad. That's worrying.

Try talking to him. You're only seeing differences in you because that's all you actually act upon. Find something you actually agree upon and act on it. You probably won't change his personality/tastes, he's an engineer, probably not a kid anymore, he has his head made.

Dialogue is the best option here. Also, watch out for "guy friend". He can cause problems for you both.

but i you want to have at it, id just aim more male than female. if a girl has a blue room thats not considered weird (and would actually be good for her regardless of gender because soft blue is considered the most calming color, helps with sleeping and whatnot.

That's not good future-proofing, pink and blue together is possible to do well but pic related is gaudy as hell and very definitely childish/girly. Odds are great that as a boy gets older he won't want that color scheme, and while a girl might take longer to tire of it she'd probably want it updated by her tween or early teen years.

Pastel yellow/greens are pretty gender neutral if you want to go for a calm and soothing nursery. Or if you want to go for a nursery with more visual interest a balance of the primary colors coupled with white works really well. Both of which will age better with your child if that's to become his/her bedroom (or playroom).

I would save buying toys like that for when they're older. A baby should have very specific/simplistic toys for his or her safety things that aren't sharp, things that aren't suffocation or choking hazards. When your baby is still in a nursery they aren't going to benefit from toys like that. Buying gender neutral stuffed animals, teething toys, mobiles, play mats, etc. is stupidly easy.
