How do I go about moving to Japan?

I want to live in Japanese blissfulness forever.
Giving up my American citizenship would be damn hard though.

Thoughts and opinions?

I seem to have developed a crush on my friend. she's cute, but I also like how we have the same sense of humor, can banter, she's really supportive of the choices I make, and overall has a good head on her shoulders and works hard which I also admire.

The problem is I don't want to shit where I eat since we share many mutual friends, especially since they don't think we get a long because we take jabs at each other. If she rejects me I don't mind just being friends but I don't know she'd be able to look at me the same way knowing I like her.

What do

According to /adv/ if you liked her you should have asked her out before you even exchanged words otherwise you're a bitter neck beard who is low confidence and is waiting for a flashing signal above her face saying please ask me out

Sorry man you're too late, better off never talking to her ever again about anything
>>
>>18235700
Just talk to her about it. If you're good friends and you date, but split up, you'll be rocky for a while but you'll be able to be friends again eventually.

If she rejects you, you'll feel like shit for a while, but eventually you'll be fine and you'll be friends again.
>>
>>18235700
Ask her out for coffee or something casual. Don't make it seem like a date, play it like youd be doing it anyways if she wasnt there. You'll be able to guess what's on her mind if she agrees, but expect a no.

I'm 20 years old, will graduate with my bachelors in the summer, have taken all the steps to commission as an officer in the US Army after graduation, and I have no idea what the fuck I'm doing.

I'm joining the army for two reasons: fraternity and job satisfaction. I took a few tests at my university's career counseling office that told me I would be happiest as a "Military Officer". The desire for fraternity comes from an Outward Bound trip I took in high school which resulted in a very close bond with my fellow students; I've never stopped wanting that in the rest of my life. The hiking/camping was great also.

I'm always seeking authenticity, but I don't know what 'real' even is. I'm worried that I'll start a military career, retire at 40 without ever having realized what I was REALLY supposed to be doing.

I have a girlfriend, we love each other and have planned to be together forever. She's wealthy and says she's willing to follow me wherever I go, but I don't know how she'd react to me bumming it while I try to 'find myself'.

Sorry this is such a rambling post, I can't seem to organize anything when I have so many unanswered questions. Any advice?

Anyone else /fearofflying/ here?

I like going on vacation for the most part, but my heart rate is all over the place for the trip to the airport / flight itself. I usually dont sleep good the night before, i'm stressed and my heart is racing the whole way to the airport, going through TSA and X-ray is the worst. Then the flight itself you're crammed in with 200+ other people in a coffin flying 40k feet in the air by two people who may or may not have drug dependencies or hidden mental health issues.

It's not like I haven't been exposed to flying either. I always went on trips with my family growing up, and I don't think I had a fear of flying. I've probably flown 75+ times, but it never gets any easier. I've taken xanex a couple times, but I dont have access to it unless I go to a doctor.

I'm going on two long flights tomorrow to a beautiful tropical destination and I'm starting to stress tough. What can I do?

Remind yourself that you're far likelier to die driving to the airport than on the plane. Nearly 100 people are killed in vehicle accidents just in America every single day. There just isn't a news story after every accident like with a plane, it really is the safest way to travel.
>>
>>18235685
Might be able to get something from your doctor for flying anxiety.
>>
I was almost in a plane crash. Was trying to land during a snowstorm. The plane started swinging like a pendulum, and all of a sudden it swung way harder, to the point where it seemed like it was about to start spinning. People started screaming. The guy sitting next to me gripped my hand, I was 14. The pilot pulled the plane up and all of this happened within maybe 10-15 seconds, tops.

I'd still get on a plane so I definitely don't have flight anxiety. Because in all honesty, if the plane crashes, you get to get high on oxygen so whatever is happening, you are more or less okay with it.

I'm almost 19 years old.
I dropped out a long time ago. I don't have a GED.
I work a dead-end job and live at home. I'm trying to study for my GED to actually do something with my life, but nothing fucking sticks. I can't get things into my head.
Trying to learn frustrates me and I can't motivate myself. It's so much easier to say "fuck it" and play video games until the next workday. I know I'll regret this eventually, but doing the right thing feels so fucking shitty and reward-less.

Take it in bite sized chunks of learning
Set a certain amount of time aside a day to study and promise to yourself that you'll do it no matter how much it sucks and hurts to do
Reward yourself at the end with some video game time.
Do this twice a day and you'll pass the GED

If you don't do it now it 3 years you're going to be hating yourself for never making yourself do it now. You do not have time to waste. Don't let your future self down.

More meat on the point of contact, less painful

So biceps, less painful
Elbows/Ribs/Neck, very painful

I myself have two on my biceps, reasonably sized, took about 2 hours less probably each.
I might recommend bring a friend so you can talk to someone the whole time.
Places might differ but my process was like filling out forms, making sure the image was the one I chose, shave the area where the tattoo was going, they turn it into some purple paper replica sort of the tattoos you get as a 5 year old, place it perfectly, then the actual tattoo starts.

I have a close friend who has struggled with their weight basically all their life. They have very bad eating habits and they are mostly sedentary except for the occasional attempt at diet or exercise. Their attitude bounces back and forth between complacency with their weight and deep insecurity. They become overzealous and attempt starvation diets or exercise to the point of self injury or lose only a small amount of weight and feel overly proud and then lapse back into old habits. Additionally, they are surrounded by people with similar problems who co-dependently enable each them.

My primary concern is that if they continue to live as they do, their time on this planet will be cut short before they are able to live their dreams and also that their weight is probably damaging to their self-esteem. Even worse, their fast food expenditure is bleeding them dry financially when they should be saving money.

I am a scrooge with my money and a bit of a skeleton and I think my friend resents me for this. They seem to have a bit of a passive aggressive streak and will fight others who try to reform them.

How do I as a lone assburger with shitty social skills save this person from themselves? I'm worried they will give shove me away or that their insecure friends will find some way to punish me for wanting to do something.

>they are surrounded by people with similar problems who co-dependently enable each them.
This is the biggest problem. I've never once seen a fat person get thin when they're surrounded by other fat people.

>How do I as a lone assburger with shitty social skills save this person from themselves?
You don't. Sad to say it, but your friend won't get any better until they want to help themselves and are willing to put in the effort to do so.
>>
>>18235563

the best ways to help people in this situation is to control them. it may sound extreme, people tend to think 'well if they can't take care of it themselves than whats the point?'

but food addiction isnt that different than drug addiction. perhaps just as bad really considering that you HAVE to eat and that makes making the right choice harder.

if they are willing, the best thing you can do is move in with them, shop with/for them, and monitor all their food. and if you are unwilling to live iwth them for at least a week to accomplish this,. the best you can do is monitor from afar. but once you do that you know that they can lie, they can run off and buy something else, etc.
>>
You have good intentions and all but it is a bit contemptuous to think this way, and as your friend picks up on it it's likely to make them resentful towards you. Adults in general don't like to be controlled and want their friends to have faith in their judgement. Same goes for you, as much as you want your friends to help you out in various situations, you also probably don't want any of them constantly harping on you for this or that flaw.

At the same time this feels like wasted energy. As in good intentions that could be put to good use to genuinely help this other person. So I personally wouldn't say it's best to do nothing, but to do it in a way that shows you still respect this person and their boundaries. For example, if a friend was approaching you to help you with your social skills, how would you want them to go about it and how could they do this in a way where it still showed that they respected your overall judgement?

Alright so i'm 19 years old and I have a crush on this girl at my school. I'm a relatively confident guy and not very shy and can have conversations with people but that's apparently not enough for me to simply look at my crush and smile at her or something. I just can't bring myself to do it. What to do?? I mean I go to the gym, have a pretty cool job, have full brown beard, have a car and i think I dress pretty well and also I'm on NoFap/NoPorn. what else can i do to boost my confidence??

they usually do, they usually get interested and show interest at bare minimum, some might expect you to make the final step (by asking out, make a move etc) but its very easy to detect

the bad news is if you they show zero interest they usually have none

First off, your nervousness will fade away in the first two minutes you talk to her when she arrives. So don't stress over it.
Second, because you are inexperienced you shouldn't even go on this date with the mindset
>I will fuck her
just try to have a good time.
Third, be yourself. I'm being fucking serious here. Be yourself. If you put on an act, you will just make her uncomfortable when she sees through it. She will even trust you less. She already agreed to go on a date with you, that means she likes you already.
And last, yes. Kiss her in the end. But make sure to flirt with her obviously. That is as simple as telling her that she looks pretty when you pick her up or touching her back when you walk somewhere.

Keep in mind, she agreed on date with you. That means sex with you went already through her head and she thought to herself she would want that. The deal is already sealed, so just be cool and try to enjoy yourself.

Thanks my man. Yeah, we are flirting over text close to 2 weeks now. I know that she likes me, and she knows that I like her.

You have some tipps for the kissing part? (I wouldnt have gone in it with a "I will fuck her" mindset anyways)

GJ to you on that kind sir!

So I messed up a bit ago and now am facing the fallout.

I've been dating my current gf for 2.5 years, rock steady, we're moving in with each other soon, a good time all around.

Before that, I had a brief (4 month) relationship with one of my closer friends, she came to stay with me for about a month, then when she left, she wrote a pretty heartfelt letter about things she thought were "good" about me.

My current gf has always been a little cagey about this ex, since we still remained friends after. I personally am 100% confident that there's no chance we're getting back together, and I don't really talk to her that often anymore, but gf is still paranoid/anxious in general.

Long story short, my gf stayed over last night, and was digging through my drawers to borrow a pair of socks this morning, when she found the letter, which I'd honestly forgot I had there. She didn't open it, just looked at the sender info, then stormed off in a huff, cutting me off.

So, yes I fucked up by keeping the letter around (there's no plausible deniability here), and I get that my gf is going to be cold to me for a bit, but how do I help fix this? What should I do/say?

How bad is soda and chocolate? I'm somehow addicted to cola, fanta, etc. and drink everyday one can with about 250ml. In addition one bar of chocolate or so.

I'm not fat and even do some fitness but still I'm worried of dying of cancer or something because of that behaviour. Should I reduce it to two or three cans per week or even less? Or is it actually not that bad?

Chocolade are sugars, fats and even some anti depresive things, cacao and vitamines. It is also very kcal dense, so if you overdo it, you may get fat.

Soda is pure cancer. With or without sugar, it is concentrated cancer in a drink. If you want to drink something sweet, go for orange juice.

My wife is an intelligent woman, there is no doubt of that. I can have very interesting conversations with her if I introduce a new or higher tier issue to her that will last for an hour easily. The issue is that she's the sort of smart where she was a big fish in a small pond and can't accept the fact that she could be wrong. She will do things out of spite if she feels she's being told what to do(even if she had requested it at an earlier point).

For example, her stepfather is most likely a pedophile, and we were discussing his involvement with our upcoming child. She said she wanted to remove him from our life for the safety of our child and wanted me to make certain that point was made "down the road when [she] was crazy hormonal." I concurred and said I'll simply say he can't be a part of our child's life. She immediately responded(almost reflexively) in full seriousness, then I'll make certain he's the most active grandparent.

I hold no hatred for my wife, but constantly being belittled and berated will whittle anything down. I'm afraid I'll lose my patience as time goes on and I fear for our relationship, especially with the introduction of a third party(the baby) that will act as a catalyst for the "I DO WHAT I WANT, CONSEQUENCES BE DAMNED" aspect of her personality.

If anyone has any advice, I'll openly welcome it. They never covered this one in Carnegie's people books.

it could be that your wife has personal problems from that past that causes her to be so defensive. Does she suffer from any mental health diseases? Maybe a lack of self-worth or respect? Could it be that she doesn't like herself that much so when you tell her something or ask her something, she gets defensive because she sees it as a personal attack? You'll have to do some research into this case and find the real reason for her acting in a unreasonable manner.
>>
all women are crazy
they will put their crazyness on you and you will have to present the common sense solution and stick to it

they whine and complain but they will respect you for it

stand your ground, argue, reason and dont be a fucking slipper, its called shittests and its part of being a woman

im usually telling mine she is being retarded if she still wants to do the crazy unreasonable thing after long hours of discussion
>>
>>18235361
>a third party(the baby) that will act as a catalyst for the "I DO WHAT I WANT, CONSEQUENCES BE DAMNED" aspect of her personality.

You can stay with her as long as you don't have that baby. Because she will toss any thought of trying to compromise with you right out the window if she thinks she has to for the sake of the baby, and she WON'T be thinking rationally, she will be excessively cautious.

People need to be loaded to have kids without this kind of thing coming between them.

I'm having my wisdom teeth out soon and I'm concerned they will use opiates on me during the procedure. They won't give them to you during the surgery. They will use a local anaesthetic and possibly nitrous oxide to put you under. They would only ever prescribe opiates for the pain following the procedure, which you can always deny.
