I believe the amp connects to a computer or something and the headphones connect to the amp, you play music through your computer pretty much. There are headphones that dont require an amp if you are going to be using your phone, more ohms require an amp.

but beings I am in the middle of nowhere, my options are actually fairly limited unless I want a 2hr one way commute to work, meaning I'll be spending a lot more of those "oil money" pay checks on car maintenance and gas, let alone getting enough sleep per night to be able to drive safely for 2hrs at a time to, then even more exhausted from work to home.

Most people have problems getting productive things done because they build negative momentum. If you wanna accomplish productive things you need to build positive momentum. Make it a habit to write every day and learn and you will eventually enjoy it and that will build momentum and make it easier to accomplish things.

Another thing that worked for me as a charm was to say to myself "fuck it, I need to get my shit together" and just hop and do whatever you're supposed to do, you'll see it's not that bad once you get started, kinda like a steamroller.
