You first need a reason to go talk to her. Get creative and find a way to have reasonable excuse to talk to her. That could simply be, "hey, do you guys have a stapler I can borrow? I'm over in the Engineering dept. and it's a mad house trying to find ours. I promise I'll give it back." Now, while she gets you the stapler is a time for you to small talk. Simple and light small talk cause you only have a few seconds. Get the stapler and leave.

Now you have a second reason to talk to her, the return of the stapler. Give her the stapler first and say thanks. In a real sense all of these interactions are confrontations. If you're a big guy like me then one tip is to not square your shoulders with hers. Do you know what that means? This will allow her to have a lower level of anxiety and increase her chances of allowing you to get away with with more small talk.

Can't give advice on this but i can tell you what it's like for someone else who also randomly wakes up in the night and doesn't sleep enough.
I usually wake up because i am stressing out over something that comes up and then i realize my dream just amplified that problem and it's not that urgent, my body then feels heavy and i barely feel like i have the strength to move for a few seconds even if i want to and am aware of it.
I've had problems with the neck from stressing out before and at that time i really couldn't move because my muscles would be too tense and if even moved a little it would hurt like hell.

Definitely would go to a doctor because you are tense, that shit can get worse.

Give us some context. Did something recently happen? Do you have some weekly routine?

I used to get sleep paralysis pretty often when I was working my shitty job, then again when I had housing issues. In that case, then a doctor might just try and help you through your stress issues. Antidepressants are also a treatment for most sleep problems, but I don't think they're the best port of call because of tolerance problems

I can relate to so much of this, I am panicking right now because I have reached out to everyone I know and I feel like my depression is just making everyone mad at me. They all say to just go to the doctor but we can't find one that takes my insurance and I know they're useless anyway and the pills aren't going to do much either. When I used to do language classes, there were almost always more girls than guys. When I did graded language classes, you got more girls in the higher language levels
