What're some suggestions for home safety?
I live in a nice area, but last night I woke up to a big crash downstairs, and was gonna run to go investigate, then I realized I'm just a dude sitting in his underwear and I didn't have so much as a bat nearby. It turned out to be my roommate but I felt powerless.
So what should I go for? A gun? A knife? Sword?
One other thing - I'm in my room upstairs most of the time and can't see what's going on in the house. Would it be totally ridiculous of me to install a security camera down there so I could know what's coming?

No if security cameras make you feel safer, then do it. If you have the cash do what you need to feel safer in your own home.

I've been working with my current employer for little over a year now and they are very down to earth and understanding. I was graciously given more hours and an increased wage recently, however shortly after this my very ill father got much worse and my mother who was caring for him primarily suffered a bad stroke and I need to step in and take control of things to help with care of both parents. I need to lessen my house, at least temporarily, to take care of what's going on, but I'm afraid of pissing of the job or losing this job as my position may be necessary I'm not irreplaceable and I have considered for a future change in schedule to cut my hours down and increase my wages. My parents were always very caring, loving, understanding, and sacrificed many things to make my life worthwhile despite their lifelong bad health and poverty and my lifelong health issues. They love me with all their heart's and I love them so I don't want to let this job stand between me and my parents well being. How can I explain to the company that while I sincerely appreciate the position and I have I need to take care of my parents at least for a few months till their health, hopefully, steadies itself

basically I told this girl that I wanted to do a short trek through a nature reserve, and she was all like noo I should take pictures of her there because this and that, saying that she should join, so then I set up a day and plan some stuff
3 days later I give her details about it, she says yea she has it in her calendar and all
