First relationship, it has been long distance for over a year now. Is physical/sexual when we are together.
We've been together for a long time so breaking up isn't what either of us want.

Howdy /adv/.
Just started college majoring in civil engineering but have been having thoughts about switching over to mechanical. I've heard recently that civil engineering is rather dull and the job market is very tough. However, I've also heard a mechanical engineering degree is a lot more broad and can help you expand into many different careers. Is this true?
Any engineers on here that can give me your thoughts or experiences on this?

Engineer here. I feel like I know a lot of engineers that just end up in tech from other engineering (like material science engineering major to machine learning data scientist) The key is to hire into a larger company that has a lot of different projects and learn on the job but first show that you are smart and able to learn a lot.

I'm currently facing a curious dilemma. I'm male, young, and pretty much your average /fit/izen, and I'm also straight.
Over the last three or four years I've been approached mainly by men however. Over the course of this time I've changed drastically from a twink dyel, and I'm still mainly approached by men. They come in all shapes and sizes and don't seem to fit into any specific criteria (I'd think they were ordinary dudes like me were they not trying to fuck me) and I don't think I 'look gay' or whatever either. Women rarely ever do it, though. I don't frequent gay bars, I don't have grindr installed, I don't wave dildos around and I can't imagine why anyone would think that I'm gay-er than the next average joe, but I don't see my buddies being approached as often by men. Do gay men have lower standards than women? If not, why the fuck does this happen? Is this normal for straight dudes at all?

I have a general feeling of inadequacy and inferiority when I don't think I should.
For example, I've been to parties, drank and done drugs, have slept with ~9 women, one of them what I'd consider a 10/10. Yet on friday and saturday nights I feel like a loser when I'm on my basement on the computer working away at my career, like everyone is living it up to the fullest and I'm a loser.
My career is going pretty well, according to statistics I'm far better off financially then other people my age (26), yet I feel like I haven't accomplished enough.
I'm tall, decent looking, and am currently working hard to get as fit as possible (average build currently), yet I feel like a cave troll.
I think a lot of this stems from getting dumped by my gf. I have no reason to believe that she's sleeping around or doing drugs (which she'd have every right to do, it's her life), but I get the feeling that while I'm working to better my life that's what she's doing on the other side of the planet. I feel like a loser.
I get the idea that everyone everywhere all the time are having drug fueled orgies at raves living the fullest lives while I'm sitting around like a loser, even though I imagine spending most my time working on my career and dreams is a good thing.
I dunno. Feels terrible. Please help.

what's your career? is it something where if you continue to grind like this for another year or two you'll be making bank without working weekends? If so I'd say do that, continue to focus on yourself and put money away then when you're ~28 you can live the life you want while everyone else still wageslaves away. if you have good money, are in shape and are a cool guy you can still bang hot, young women into your thirties.

My husband is annoying me.
I gave up my career to be with him and he cares very little, tells me nothing and does everything that we are suppose to decide together on his own.
His mom does his bills and taxes and will not allow me to do it.
I save money by doing odd jobs and he is always making me pay for everything. Lately I noticed he is extra stingy with his money. I saved up to buy a pair of headphones for months and he decided he wanted them and took them. I found out why he has been so stingy he has friends who do stocks and has been putting all his money into stocks. I have an uncle who worked in stocks for 30 years I suggested to my husband that he go meet up with him to learn about stocks but he denied it saying "I will do it how I want".
I do not think he understands that if he loses his money that I will end up having to pay it off.

That his mom pays his bills and he is stingy? He was not like that before we got married. Its like he became his dad as soon as we got married and stopped trying. For our anniversary he gave my mom money to buy me a present so that he would not have to do it. I do not even care about money the thing that worries me is his lack of effort and me having to sacrifice everything.

So a very smart lady friend is having a super hard time getting into any of the schools that she applies to. She gets to the interviews and chokes up a little (who doesn't), but has been told that there were doctor's kids that did a LOT worse but got accepted instead of her.
She already does lots of volunteering for hospitals and takes classes at regular colleges, is there anything else she can do to bump up her chances?
