I don't think anyone should deceive themselves about what Patreon is. It's donations and it always will be. If people want to pay Akabur 500k a month to produce nothing that's their choice, they can always cancel it.

I don't know why anyone would give him anything since it has been over a year without even a picture released but that's up to them. If you're giving money to anyone on there expecting something concrete for it, especially a completed game, then you're out of your mind.

I work in the games industry and making games is not fun and games, it's hard work. For small teams working in their free time or a single person to make a significant game in a matter of months is insane. Everyone should be happy that anyone puts time into making these games at all.

Path of Kings Insider Update

I just want to provide you Insiders with a update as to what and where we are at the start of this week.

On Sunday Sunset and Myself had a four hour meeting in regards to development timelines, and design structure. I want to fill you in with a more detailed timeline we are striving for.

Jan: Having the intro (done), character selection (done), multiple saves (done) menus, and cut scenes complete.
We are working towards getting the art assets in for this month but this is conditional of time. The main city will be the largest and most comprehensive, and detailed picture Sunset has ever attempted to draw.
The intro cut-scenes will be in, but the art may be place holders. We are hoping to have the dialogue and writing 90% finished for these.
Internally we will have several prototypes built to flush out game mechanic ideas.

Feb: We want all major game mechanics in place, and functioning, all NPC characters to be chosen, allowing for writing to commence.

Mar: Potentially have all the writing finished for the demo release, and have the demo build 90% complete. Move to bi-weekly build updates on Patreon.

April: Full public release of demo (end of April), Patreon will be upwards of three weeks ahead in game play and assets at this point. Finalization of plot and writing main story lines at this point.

June: bug fixing, continued art asset finishing, final animations added, all scenes in place. Game complete on Patreon platform.

Now these are goals and not hard fastened rules for us. We are designing the game around releasing the updates for you. Meaning that we hope moving into March that internally we are a week or two ahead of what you are playing. One thing that bugs me though is that I don't really think Korra would have a complex about her muscles. I think she'd probably be pretty confident about her body (she generally seems cocky/confident about herself until seriously challenged) unless you use something in the game to give her a reason not to be. I wouldn't limit myself like that. I can see why you would want to do so, but as long as a choice's script doesn't get too long, I wouldn't really worry.
In a game like your's good writing is more important than all choices having the same number of lines in a script.
Just go over your writing again and again until the final version. And I don't know how you work, but don't write it as scrip right away. I'd recommend doing it old school and simply writing the dialogue on paper first, correcting it again and again. That's basically how you would write a story and how most writers work (possibly writing on a computer, but I know for a fact that a lot of professional authors still prefer paper).

Oh, and if you do write on paper first, you might want to write more than just the dialogue in order to get into a flow. You might even get ideas for more scenes once you manage to get it flowing.
After one initial correction always come back to whatever you wrote at least(!) twice to smooth things out.
The more you read the better you will get at writing as well (usually, as long as you read good authors).
I am a hobby author myself, have had some things published as part of collections and been featured on the radio. It's not much, but I still believe I am fairly okay at writing.
However, I haven't tried my hand at porn yet (be it stories or games) and want to learn how to draw better before I start working on an idea I have. I want to be able to see it through and finish it on my own.

Better to end the sentence at cold and start the next one with "Next/Then/Later X reprimanded Aliane for..."

It is tough to write because you're basically trying to do something a bit unreasonable. She hates you for good reasons and you're trying to convince her to do what you want. I get that it's the demo, and skips some establishing, but in the live game that sort of scene would require plenty of prior scenes establishing a relationship of basic trust and dependence.

I don't think that compliments would help to convince her to strip, but they might help to build her trust towards future actions. Lead with bargaining, offering bits of food for bits of clothing. Get her to agree to small things before working up to larger. Then compliment her when she's done them. I think it's important to keep in mind that some paths should be slower, take more turns to achieve the same results, but with better payoffs.

Akabur is one of only a handful of western 2D artists to create content that panders to the "training" kink. And he has recently created two games focused on it. These generals were Akabur games generals that started calling themselves /stg/ when they wanted to pretend they were more about the trainer kink in game form and less about the most visible guy making the games.

The upshot is that the anons of /stg/ have been frustrated and blue balled waiting for him to produce their wank material for over a year now. So minutes after Witch Trainer was released began the "lazy," and "greedy" comments. If you can find it in the archives, it was less than a week out back in November 2014 that some of the small handful of /stg/ regulars started crying that another complete game wasn't coming out immediately afterward.

But relax, it's just a meme. An attempt at a joke, that is very cold now and not too funny. But you too can participate in it by calling me akabur. That's part two to the meme:

If you're a skeptic, you could fairly argue that it's possible that he only has those random sketches done and there's no hope, if you're a realist you would note that most AAA games don't put out much more than he's shown until right before launch, so it's completely possible he's being honest and has a game that will be ready for launch within a couple months and very fun to play.

My guess is that the latter is closer to the truth, and he will be releasing a fun game within the near future, but no matter how good it is, it can't hope to meet the pent up anticipation.

The main issue people have with Akabur is two fold. His first game, Princess Trainer, was very well received and more or less came out of nowhere. (Well, it actually came from behind the paywalls of Hentai United and then leaked all over the internet.)

Akabur started his Patreon shortly there after, and started making thousands of dollars a month. His initially stated goals was to work on a Gold Edition of Princess Trainer, with expanded content.

Very shortly he said that he was putting PT:Gold on hold as he had a new idea for a game, Hermione Trainer.

Fast forward a year later, the Hermione game comes out, but most people agree that it's smaller and less impressive than Princess Trainer. There was less art, more grinding, and much less variety.

A lot of fans of the original PT, especially on 4chan, were pissed. When Akabur created PT, he did not have a patreon, but he made a better game while simultaneously creating regular comics or pieces of art. Then once he started to rake in thousands of dollars a month, his output and quality both massively drop.

And now it's been another year since the Hermione game's been released, and PT:Gold, which is supposedly just an expanded version of an existing game, is still not released. The popular theory is that Akabur is deliberately delaying his work because he doesn't need to work hard. He gets money every month from Patreon whether or not.
