Subs are only inherently superior for people outside of the language.

You can't appreciate a lot of the subtleties of voice acting (proper enunciation, tone, pacing, accent) because you don't know what they should be.

Only dub I ever recommend is Black Lagoon's, and it's occasionally unbearable. The acting is Z-grade, a constant reminder that American actors who are talented or lucky do not dub anime.

I generally think comedy dubs in general are watchable, sometimes even better. Still uncertain about a lot of dubs for the more serious shows or shows focused around young girls. They pretty much always turn to shit one way or another.

I can usually do dubs for action or comedy. Comedy because intonation is so important and they save me from reading tl notes about why some shitty moonrune pun was hilarious.

Action because japanese males don't sound intimidating to me, jap guts sounds like a little bitch compared to eng guts for example.

Anything where the language itself actually matters like a drama or something I would usually watch subbed. Though to be honest if I really like something I usually just read the manga.
