I prefer the quality and color reproduction of a classic CRT myself.
Is there even a point in upscaling? I just fullscreen whatever Im watching on my desktop res, which is 1152p.
Netflix is starting to stream stuff in 4k. Also the porn is fucking fantastic.

Best possible quality?

Nevermind. Hook your laptop to a chink 720p monitor and stick to that.
Basic 768p laptop.
It works just fine, since everything is generally 720p. Anime isn't in 1080p or better usually, the only copies you find for that are generally upscaled, either by the company or the subgroup's lackeys.
On the TV at the comfort of my bed.
The TV is 32" and I kind of want to upgrade.
Curling on the couch and using that melynx pillow is comfy as fuck.
I rent a screen on Time Square whenever I want to watch something. The specific screen and where I watch it from changes with my mood. The screens are always more visible at night
46 inch tv from bed controlled with one of these bad boys so I can turn by computer off after watching CGDCT without getting up. Best $4 I ever spent.
I was always jelly as fuck of Arnold's room, not just for his toys either. That space and that roof access are amazing. Same goes for the Angry Beaver's dam, that large wooden mansion was just always comfy, especially during their "it's an episode where they parody bad 50s sci-fi" episodes.
Panasonic Viera ST60 Smart Plasma master race incoming
CRT WAS SO GLORIOUS
WISH I STILL HAD MY XBR960, DAT SFP TRINITRON TUBE GODDAM
PLASMA WAS GOOD BUT NOW THATS OVER TOO
OLED IS STILL SHIT
AND LCD IS FOREVER GARBAGE
I use to hook my laptop up to my TV and watch it that way, but my laptop lags with 10bit video. Since I only used it for anime, I bought a Galaxy Tab S2 for the sole purpose of watching anime and reading manga in bed. I know people like to shit all over tablets, but the screen is amazing and I couldn't be happier.
Fuck you, If I had my old spongebob tv, I would've whiped the floor with your sorry ass.
I was so close to acquiring the widescreen XS 955N super fine tube 1440x1080i (basically a XBR 960 sans antiglare coating, video processing and subwoofer) for 100 bux last Thanksgiving on craigslist. It's too bad I can't fit it in my car and no one was there to help me carry this 300 pound beast.
As for plasmas... they're good as long as it's made by Pioneer or Panasonic.
The only thing about big screen TVs is that they really highlight any jitter in your video playback. I've got a 42" connected to a pretty good computer/graphics card and I keep all my software up to date, but I still get jitter when the video is panning. Also, keep in mind that 1080p is most likely going to be your max resolution, regardless of the size (actually, I'm not sure how common 4k screens are yet), but the idea of a larger screen is just to watch from farther away, not to make the video look clearer. It will look worse up close.
Negative. Projectors need the room to be dimmed or dark, and are really limited in their usage.
