Bakemonogatari is easily the most well-directed season, but the source material is weak compared to everything after Nisemonogatari. Sure, the adaptation of Second Season has some issues but the core writing is so good that I like it better than Bake.
I refuse to believe people actually think this. Like, maybe the 1% of viewers who are literally only watching for the artsy direction could enjoy Bake and not the others at all, but this gets said way too often to be believable.
I'm not understanding
Who is Haneka fighting? Did I miss something?
Yep. It's pretty funny, during the course of just Neko Shiro, Araragi experiences Mayoi Jiangshi, Shinobu Time, and Shinobu Mail. A few really busy days for him while Hanekawa and his girlfriend neck in the shower.
But I just finished Owarigatari
It's supposedly the last
Whatever happened to Kaiki about he got smashed up?
What is Gaen going to do with the armor?
When do they fight Ougi who is obviously the black void that chased Snail and Araragi?
>There's part two coming sometime that answers all your questions.
oh thank god
>Well, except about Kaiki.
is that another spoiler for another series?
What the hell is up with that, one minute he gets bashed in the head left for dead for a cliffhanger, next we see him chatting up with Kanbaru going MEATO MEATO with his new beard
I guess while the plot/writing side of things is much better, we get to meet a lot of great and interesting new characters... The anime adaptation leaves something to be desired. It has begun to feel very, by the numbers with it's style and how to sets up each of it's episodes. Visually, storyboards and direction, nothing is terribly standout-ish.
We have some great moments, I enjoyed Shinbou's farewell to her first servant and Sodachi's arc/s was engaging for recent examples, but it was more of the same otherwise. I guess, the current staff doesn't try to take any risks and it becomes dull to a certain extent.
Maybe Oshino did save him, or Gaen
Noone seems to mention Ougi except Araragi and Hanekawa, and now Ononoki, so if they truly don't know about her, he should have been dead
Itamura just isnt up to par with Oishi and you can see a steady decrease in his efforts over the seasons. Nise has better direction than SS. SS than Owari and you can include all the TV specials between in that list. I guess the series is just dragging on too long for him to want to put any effort in at this point.
Agree that, post-Bake, the direction has gotten significantly worse and the adaptation suffers from it. I would say that I think Owari has better direction than SS though.
My pipe dream is for Oishi to come back in after Kizu and direct Owari vol. 3.
I just want Owari vol. 3 to be adapted well. It's a great story.
At least Itamura isn't as bad as Tatsuwa Naoyuki. If I remember correctly, Nisekoi's direction is basically just SHAFTisms piled on top of each other.
Haven't seen it but I'll check it out.
Wasn't he just an occasional episode director on that?
