It's a pretty common narrative device.It's an episodic series and new elements are introduced gradually and subtly.It also underlines the fact that the main characters cannot or will not move on with their lives for one reason or other which is kind of the point of the series.

It's weird realizing that the grand majority of old anime was completely episodic and monster of the week rather than the modern format of overarching story arcs occupying every four to five episodes.

Luckily for you the industry churns out a bunch of stuff that appeals to you. So when I get a show once in a while just kindly fuck off and let me have it.

A character like Balsa or Motoko is more interesting to me than a dozen uguus.

If you want to be taken seriously at least try to criticize it fairly, how do you expect anyone to contest your mostly made up points and extremely personal views.

There isn't really any consistency if I wanted to do an in-depth critique of the anime, I'd have to critique every episode separately.

However everything it tries to do is done better in the west by shows like firefly or star-wars (I mean Spike and Fey are more annoying versions of Han and Leya).

The two anime it is most commonly compared to (outlaw star and Trigun) though episodic still had a general sense of plot and theme that they stuck to throughout the whole show. As a result I think they are both better than Bebop.

I wrote post in the first place because I wanted people to give me legitimate reasons on why they like the show. I see no redeeming factors to the show.

I really enjoyed all of the characters. I like when we get a look through Spike's mask every few episodes. I like pretty much everything about Jet. I find Faye to be interesting and her backstory only compounds that. Ed is decent for what she is.

In terms of the show, I enjoy the aimless wandering subsistence archetype of shows. I like Samurai Champloo, I like Mushishi, I like Kino's Journey, etc.

Star wars is nothing like Bebop, Firefly has some similarities for sure but I don't see how it does anything better really.
