Hey, do you know? when you have a dream... sometimes its really painful... and sometimes you get really fired up. Or so i hear. I don't have a dream. But, you know, I can protect
/ai/ - Idle Activities.
I'm all for it if it causes decent drama and suffering and boys screaming in angst while riding a motorcycle on a rainy night because they were too busy making dresses while their gf was fucking a korean.
It seems nips are thrilled too.
Who needs girls in Aikatsu anyway, let's waste screentime on something else.
At least it looks cute.
Good, finally Aikatsu can be good.
Too much time wasted on useless fluff and the show as it is right now has absolutely no substance. Needs something dramatic or something emotional to at least draw in a crowd again, everyone got bored of it being nothing.
Anyone who thinks this is a bad thing is either a nostalgiafag and needs to get over it or fuck off because their show is over and there's nothing they can do about it, or a /u/shitter and doesn't belong here anyway. This is only going to result in the series improvement.
If the Love Live-fags can get over it, then so can you.
If the Pretty Rhythm-fags can get over it, then so can you.
Entitled Aikatsu babies are the worst.
I remembered why I don't like you. Sorry for being an Aikatsu retard in an /ai/katsu thread.
I'm just telling it like it is, neither of those is a counterargument on why Aikatsu staying the same is better than it being changed up either, you both know I'm right.
the art style didn't change with the akari gen m8
I know, plot-wise it has definitely gone downhill since akari, but it was still decent.
If stars fails to wew me after 5 or so episodes, i'll drop it. Shame since I've been watching since day 1.
It seems like the last episode had a bigger budget, so hopefully they'll give it the ending it deserves. I guess it's better to let it die than run it in to the ground.
I really should forget about "Aikatsu" in the title. Aikatsu is already perfect, there's nothing to change.
Stars is a new show, it will be easier to watch it without comparing.
I really hope if they're adding males they give them the same vibe males have in the Aikatsu universe, they're not seen as very different from others, not used as tools for lust or drama, just there to be part of the fun.
Aikatsu isn't relationship drama, and as long as this is keeping the Aikatsu name it shouldn't be either.
But I guess I'm fine being a whinging idiot as you'd label me, just drop it if it's going to try be something it shouldn't.
>There will never be another TV Drama episode
>There will never be a men's club episode
>There will never be a designers doing designer things episode
>There will never be a Johnny and Orihime sexual tension episode
>There will never be more Johnny
>Mizuki won't ruin another season finale
Hold me, I'm not ready for this
I personally don't give a shit as long as they're cute and fun and make a nice addition to the cast.
I feel like hanging myself whenever I go to /pc/ and see them talking like character development is literally the only thing that matters.
Her voice seems familiar somehow. And these designs don't look so bad in motion.
The new Johnny? Janet?
>hetfags getting vocal
>after 180 episodes of what was 99% yurishit with a single het bone thrown in fucking season 4 that got the show prematurely killed.
And I used to call hibikeks delusional.
Some of the side characters look like off-model love lives to me. I'm sure there were Hanayo clones in the audience.
This hair is wonderful. I hope the character designer animates her dancing with her hair flying all over the place.
So she's Cat then.
It's weird. !RanSora is voiced by Ran, !SeiraAoi is voiced by Ichigo, and Kii is voiced by Aoi.
confirmed for shit
No longer will two idles be able to gaze at each while sleeping.
PriPara created a robot to infiltrate Aikatsu.
NotRan is the moon. I feel like Mizuki has been unfairly left out of all this.
So, Aikatsu Stars has 2 new members. Sena will sing as Yume and the other new girls will sing as Lola-Laura.
I hope Mona doesn't graduate from Stars, she isn't in the video and she has beautiful voice.
>Make a NotRan in the new show
>NotRan is voiced by Ran
Ultimate confirmation that Ran is forever best Aikatsu and so perfect they just copypasted her.
All Hail Ran
Ran is Dead Long Live Ran
That was said somewhere, they are in a unit together. They aren't wearing the uniform though, so they must be like More Than True.
Akari x Sena was fine. As long as there isn't any stupid romantic drama, I'm ok with it.
Little girls love the two rival idols falling in love with the same guy drama though, that'd be just the best, along with performing badly because you can't live with the fact your best friend is in love with the same guy and you can't live with your feelings.
...and slowly having her feelings of enmity and jealousy towards her rival change into love and yearning.
I said it in my post already, she's from Shinmai Maou no Testament.
What if Kayoko Ishikawa stops doing the EDs?
I just woke up and I'm super excited of all the things happened, it's great.
>New dude is literally Sena 2.0
I bet he's gonna have the same VA, I'm excited for Loura, she reminds me of Juri somehow, besides being an actual rival character. I can feel her childhood friend is gonna be another Yuu.
Oh boy, I can't wait
I think this might be the first lewd image of Stars.
These summer uniforms aren't as charming as the Starlight ones. Having a blouse and skirt was a lot better.
True Yurishippers and Aikatsu fans will continue to support this franchise even after boys are added.
Otherwise, you're a purefag and can go throw a hissyfit in the corner like those stupid faggots back in the 2000s when Jupiter was added to Idolmaster.
A certain retard named Mugino will be ready to join you later after she cuts herself on pixiv.
Speaking of which, we should start the countdown for Mugino's next deranged rant about hetshit.
Unlike More Than True, they're not a band, they're an idol unit, but I'm not angry about them either way. I want to see if their song (if they get one) is as good as >>137966351
This. Remember, it's useless arguing now. We don't even know how much relevance the boys will have. Whether you like it or not, ignore the people trying to start things up.
I love /ai/nons who are not angry about the Stars boys.
Hanayo is a huge idol fan. She probably was in the crowd.
Funny thing though. Aikatsu and Love Live (Aikatsu having started a few months earlier) were both animated around the same time now they will both be ending/graduating at the end of March 2016.
I'm scared we're not going to get those cool and kinda-unique-for-idol-music songs like Glass Doll, Passion Flower, ChicaxChica, Kira Pata Shining, Hey Little Girl, etc. I loved Aikatsu's variety.
I'm scared of Boy idols in Aikatsu
I'm fine with a boy band like that, I'm fine with guys who used to be idols in the past, but Boy idols is just one thing I don't want in Aikatsu. I'm not even /u/ or anything, I'm all for het. It's just it was one of the like two series I had that wasn't just pretty boy idolshit.
The potatoes are absolutely Aikatsu.
So there are actually some vitally important things I haven't seen anyone mention specifically yet.
>Yume is rival/friends with Laura, and they both focus on singing
>But Yume's roommate is Koharu, her childhood friend
>Three of the S4 group are third-years, but Yuzu (not!Kii) is a second-year
>The popular boy idol group is named M4
This implies that there will actually be an equivalent male idol school, since it uses the same naming scheme as the S4. I'm sensing more drama right off the bat, and I'm excited to see what this reboot will be like.
It's like "Unprecure", but we don't get to say the same thing every year.
At least Yume's relationship with new love interest dude seems different than Ichigo's with Naoto or Akari's with Sena.
It'll be alright Anon, change is a hard process for all of us. We'll remember the past foundly, and in fact we can invite the new friends to watch Aikatsu alongside of us now, and then force them to back to the orginial series once they've caught up.
すぎる doesn't exactly have negative connotations like the English "too much" does. It's more like "very".
Also I want Yozora-senpai to pass by me in the hallway so I can smell her faintly sweet scent.
Hime was the first because she is Yume's idol. Seitokacho is probably going to be the most "antagonistic" character since her description is "She is very harsh and strict but also a cool and reliable senpai."
>If the Pretty Rhythm-fags can get over it, then so can you.
This is bullshit and you know it, anon. I still see bitching about PP not being as good as PR.
The girls are cute but I hope we get cameos from Aikatsu! at least.
I don't think it's quite the same. Pokemon, even the new ones that are different design-wise still have the same art style.
Aikatsu Stars, while design-wise it might be similar has a completely different art style.
I don't mind the new art style, I just don't think the Pokemon comparison works here.
No, it's not. I wish they'd used a new name for it like AiPara or something instead of just calling it Aikatsu. Because from what I've seen, Art style, boy idols, love interests, it's definitely not at all Aikatsu.
For stuff like Pretty Rhythm or Jewelpet or Precure it was fine having yearly series with the same names, but Aikatsu is a name that is established over almost 200 episodes as something special, so I think it's ridiculous they are still using the name for the new series, seeing as it's clearly not Aikatsu.
I think it sucks completely that we have to see something as fun and comfy as Aikatsu go away for a drama ridden uggu kawaiifest I could get from almost any other anime, there weren't many anime like Aikatsu, but there are a lot like Stars, so it's a bummer.
This, good thing now PP is pretty good now.
>it's definitely not at all Aikatsu.
You can't never tell, maybe the love interest are pretty much the same stuff that Akari and Sena are, I swear you people are overreacting to everything right now.
I think it was something about her being an actress.
I get that, but unlike them Aikatsu isn't a yearly series, or wasn't until now at least. So it sucks to see it become that instead of just rebranding it completely.
I mean I'm looking forward to Stars, don't get me wrong, I just wish they were going with a different name.
>Series I love and have been following since the first episode
>Honestly my favorite anime and holds a very special place, has gotten me through many hard times
>Suddenly being rebooted into something that looks and seems totally different
>There probably won't be anything with a similar feeling for a very long time if this is different
I think it's fair for me to overreact a little.
I think and hope you're assuming a lot here. We could just be hitting the reset button and going back to basics. There are some things we'll miss yes, but I don't think they'll pull the rug under us completely. There are plenty of things they can do to give the viewer a good faith signal that we're still Aikatsu. We'll have to wait until we actually get there.
Well, they are the best.
Geez anon, Are you from the future? Because you sound like you watched all of Stars.
>I just wish they were going with a different name.
This stuff is pretty much like how JP became Unlabeled after Twinkle happened, except our Unlabeled is an almost 200 episodes show, so I don't mind it at all, because I have seen this happened before, but it can't be helped, I'm pretty sure on this thread there are people that have just watched Aikatsu and no other show for little girls.
>There probably won't be anything with a similar feeling for a very long time if this is different
Don't go assuming things like that, Aikatsu is also a pretty special show for me, but I wouldn't go overreacting over every little thing, though I'm pretty sure people would find a motive to bitch about when it begins.
>For stuff like Pretty Rhythm or Jewelpet or Precure it was fine having yearly series with the same names
To be fair PR only lasted 3 years so I wouldn't put it in the same bracket as JP and PC. I guess AD and DMF follow each other and did last for 2 years, but even then I didn't see anyone bitching when RL was announced even though the chara design is so different
because there was only 3 people watching PR back then anyway
I wouldn't have bitched anyway, DMF's last episode closed almost all the plot points of AD, and it had a time-skip too so besides focusing full time on Prizmmy and Puretty there was little they could do.
Out of all the things you can glean from the PVs, this is the one that's most likely true. Not a single brand is the same, male idol groups have risen, and Yotsuboshi Academy is implied to be the current best school.
>Show hasn't come out yet but it's shit.
>What are boys doing in my waifu animes
Really feels like /v/ and /u/ in here.
So the new roommate has a design that screams Sidle. Will she get the Yuu treatment perhaps, or just maybe she has an On/Off switch leading to something Odayaka Ja Nai?
I watched both of those shows and I'm not /u/ either. I just don't like the idea of boy idol groups in Aikatsu.
Especially since my sister is going to be all over it now and won't shut up about them, Aikatsu was like my one safe haven.
This is just Ran, Sora, Mizuki and Miyabi in a blender.
There is one thing I'm thinking about the S4, to me, they resemble the Dreaca 4.
Hime - Is probably true to her name and is soft spoken and strong hearted like Maria.
Seitokaichou - Cool Type with a Rock Motif that's sort of like Seira DreAca's leader.
Yuzu - The hair! we'll have to wait for the personality
Yozora - The Style, the name ect
Is the S4 a nod to DreAca?
The mere fact they're a four-person group composed by one idol for each type makes them like the DreAcas in concept. I do agree that the designs are also pretty similar, especially Yuzu to Kii.
I'll have to persevere. I can't give up on Aikatsu.
Oh I figured she'd be a pop type, but she certainly breaks the mold of a sexy type so I don't mind!
She, that orange haired one, and the blonde one got quite a bit of extra focus in the PV so I'm betting they'll get promoted to mains or even rivals if the show goes that route.
Isn't it too late for Aikatsu to keep up with PriPara? All the anons who went to Japan are saying PP is dominating and everywhere.
Back when Aikatsu started, it managed to get more popular than Pretty Rhythm because Pretty Rhythm wasn't that popular to begin with, but now, one little girl out of two play PriPara. Do Sunrise and Bamco have enough money to throw at marketing to buy all the ad slots in Akiba?
If it was me I'd have just stopped Aikatsu instead of rebooting it, and used the money to make a magical girls and boys children card game franchise trying to appeal to both girls and boys. The little girl idol fad is gonna stop soon too.
I highyly doubt so since it's been only a month since Kinpri was released, and OTR wasn't particularly popular before it, and they must be planning Stars for more time than that anyway. And it's not like Kinpri is ultra popular.
OTR's cds were the highest selling out of all the RL music releases by a long shot.
It did so well that Avex and Tomy produced another single with them without telling any of the anime staff.
These album and single releases were a long time ago, probably before the planning stages for AS.
You know, sometimes, just sometimes, elements are added to a show for the purpose of spicing it up and opening up the plot to new, unexplored avenues. Not just to "get them fujo bucks". There are plenty of straight males that enjoy idol shows including both genders.
I'm upset. I actually had hope for Stars before today. But it just looks so completely un-Aikatsu I can't be excited for it. Maybe if they called it something else or weren't trying to turn it into a romance filled fujo show, there'd be something for me.
Oh well, I'll still give it a try. The music sounds horrible too though.
Pretty much this. Aikatsu is a unique show, Aikatsu has a special place in my heart. It's pretty clear they're going to change a lot of things(yes, boy idols). I will probably end up liking Stars anyway because I can't live without little girls shows, but it won't be Aikatsu anymore. This is a devastating loss.
I should start practicing zen buddhism.
They already started adding (appealing) male characters in a more significant capacity during S3 anyway. Raichi kept showing up, Suzukawa was made into a teacher and became a regular, Shun replaced the old lady at the cafeteria and the MC's top designer was a young man. This is the next step.
Of course they do, and it's completely retarded, remember how the first parts of S3 was pretty much doing the S1 stuff again? Well people bitched out for it, now they're changing everything and they're still bitching out about it.
I guess you're right. Still, judging by PR's relatively small popularity during it's TV run, I don't think OTR CDs outselling the other PR CDs is that big of an achievement relatively speaking. But yeah, I don't know the actual numbers so you're probably right.
>It did so well that Avex and Tomy produced another single with them without telling any of the anime staff.
Being counter argued with info you reported yourself feels weird
I know right. Since PR is inspired from older sport girls shows where it's a normal thing.
Yes idols never gonna stop as long as Japan exists. I meant how these past years idols have been more popular among little girls than ever. You agree that if CCS was remade now they'd add a bit of idol elements right? That's what I mean.
>Their designs look pretty uninspired.
Holy shit, it's like I'm really on /pc/, wait for more videos and then the show, when that happens and you still think the designs are unispired after watching them move, then you can complain all you want.
>You agree that if CCS was remade now they'd add a bit of idol elements right? That's what I mean.
They would probably have Tomoyo filming Sakura doing auditions or something. I can't see them incorporating idle elements across the whole show.
Because there's a middle ground between "Doing the exact same thing" and "Turning the franchise into something completely different that doesn't even resemble what it once was."
>"Turning the franchise into something completely different that doesn't even resemble what it once was."
Have you watched the show? Because that's only an implication, you don't know how they will handle the cast, the themes and other stuff.
>Aikatsu is the best thing in the universe.
Have you ever watched other show for little girls or something? I mean, I love Aikatsu and all that, but calling it the best, is like those people that just watch one movie, or hear one disc and then believe it's the absolutely best, sorry if I'm wrong, but you're giving that vibe.
I don't need to watch the show, we know these will both be in it, meaning it is not Aikatsu.
I've been watching little girl shows since I was a little boy and haven't come across anything that's impacted me like Aikatsu has. Not that anon, but to me Aikatsu is the best thing in the Universe.
>CCS remake next year with Tomoyo forcing Sakura to sing and dance whenever she finishes getting a card.
>Aikatsu is the best thing in the universe.
After Pretty Rhythm.
I don't even hate Boy drama, I just don't want it in my fucking Aikatsu. Aikatsu was so different from anything else and now it's just like every fucking other show and it sucks.
I want to fuck Lala.
Even if there's not there is still a boy idol group, and that's enough to ruin it. Don't even hate boy idols, I fucking loved Callings but they don't belong in Aikatsu. It's not Aikatsu anymore. Deal with it.
Where did you see that? Besides Yume talking not-very happily with Not-Sena?
>I don't need to watch the show
Yeah, like how Aikatsu was going to be a show about rivarly and stuff like that judging from the first episodes, and this surprises me for someone who have watched shows for little girls since early age like me, to do such conclusions so early, it's surprising.
I'm actually not caught up because I always liked having some in reserve, but one top designer causing some drama compared to a group of 4 super hot heartbreakers? Yeah, it's not comparable.
>Have you ever watched other show for little girls or something?
Why do you think I'm still here? /ai/ was never the best place to discuss Aikatsu, this thread is a good example.
>people freaking out in the Pokémon anime thread due to SM's announcement with no evidence
>people freaking out here about Stars' assumed features and tone
Enjoying my children's show threads is getting harder by the minute.
Nah, the ones crying like little girls are going to go away soon enough while those who are excited over Stars are gonna stay, if anything we might go back to the pre-PP era.
Rizumu a cute.
I can see it now. Aikatsu Stars will be the death of /ai/.
Especially if it's like this for the next two months, because holy shit this "I haven't watched it yet but I know its bad" meme is deplorable. It's like /v/ in here or something.
The nature of a man is not judged during times of stagnancy, but during times of change. Whether he fears and lashes out at what he doesn't understand, or takes confidence in himself and looks at the unknown with bravery and pride. Mettle is not something one is born with, but something one creates for himself.
Then, Which one is the best place? Are there other places to begin with?
You don't need a catchphrase to be a good idol.
Not really meaning to complain. Maybe "uninspired" was too much. But compared to Over the Rainbow and even the guys in Naoto's band that were hardly around, the four young guys we've seen are all kind of samey-looking. I mean, not that they look terrible, but I can't really see them hitting it big in their own right, from a design standpoint.
We're not sure yet. They haven't made them clear. We're not sure of practically anything other than Yume is a Cute, 'Laura' is a cool Ojou-sama probable Tsundere 'Rival' and the S4 are Love you~
Just because someone supports everything they do, doesn't mean they're instantly the best place. We're the other side of the coin ensuring what made something great stays. It dosn't make us any less legimate, I'm not one of the naysayers, but they are no different then everyone screaming how good it's going to be, because they're going into this as blindly as we are. Doubt leads to progress and improvement.
This was drawn by Yume's seiyuu.
Yes she is.
>Which one is the best place?
See! Look at that, this seiyuu obviously loves her character! She's putting passion into it which means Yume is going to be every bit as good as Ichigo and Akari, it's that kind of passion that's going to make Stars into something we can enjoy.
She voices Otaku is Gyaruko-chan. And she was also drawing Osomatus, which is worrying. She's a budding fujo.
>I haven't watched it yet but I know its bad
No one is saying that Stars will be bad. This is not about Stars at all. This is about Aikatsu. I will let it go eventually but you will have to bear with me a little bit.
Kimura moving to superiving director leaves Teruo Satou in the driving seat.
> Episode Director (eps 102, 108, 116, 127, 143, 151, 159)
That's the first episode of S3, Sumire in Maya's spookhouse, Akari become a weathergirl, Rin and Madoka's arrival, the L O S T episode, the unit cup (where Tristar got unfairly beaten, I'm still mad), and Macross: Starlight.
He seems to know what makes Aikatsu fun. I have high hopes for Stars to be without drama.
Ito a cute.
Starting February the movie started being shown in much more theaters, at least 40 theaters in 40 different prefectures out of 47, and is effectively advertised now as being shown "in all of Japan" compared to like 10 theaters in January, so that's a given.
Which means it's a good thing that Sunshine's director is doing it, because that season nailed making me care for the characters and then hit with the meaningful drama at the end and sprinkled along the way.
Such things doesn't happen every day. Aikatsu has been a big part of my life for years. I've become too attached to the girls. Honestly, I myself don't want to freak out but I can't stop crying. I can't do anything about it.
Remember this parting scene from the end of S1? Well, I'm on the right.
Crying Idles are so cute.
>go to bed one hour earlier last night
>wake up, go get groceries, come back and see thread with 401 replies
what am I watching here
>Soon Hibiki will get her hopes and dreams crushed by Laala
>It's time to let go
So Yume is going to be constantly asking the other idols about their tampon preferences and if they have inverted nipples and hairy pits off-camera? She's not going to be very popular.
Stars will be the Lady of Aikatsu.
Constantly. But why off-camera?
>Stars will be the Lady of Aikatsu.
Don't say that.
