that's just how people who have no other redeeming qualities live with themselves. The truth is if you take the joy out of any GAME to the point where only winning matters then you must be a pretty shitty person to start with.
>>137834342 That's backward. Losers comfort themselves with "A-at least I had fun" or "At least I tried" to deal with the pain of losing. There is fun to be had in trying to win. There is joy to be had in winning.
See, you getting upset over someone's character tells you you're just upset you don't win.
Sonora was a cunt who bitched at Yura for no reason in her first official match. Yura was scared, it's only a game, so Sonora should have cooled the fuck down and not made out surrendering to be the worst thing in the world when the message up to then was just to have fun. Then she bitches at Yura for getting too into it.
Then the team bitches at Yura for finally taking the game seriously. And then when they win by false means and Yura owns up to it, they bitch at her again, even though they wouldn't have even come close to winning without Yura's efforts.
Frankly, she didn't deserve to be shit on as much as she did.
She wanted to impress her senpais so badly that she went full tilt into winning only matters. Reminds me of try hards who pay way to much attention to criticism and change at the drop of a hat just to try and get on your good side because they don't wanna be alone. In real life that person would likely never get it because people would just stop dealing with them instead of going out of their way to make them realize they're being retarded.
>>137834523 I kinda agree with this. Yuri didn't know what to do with herself and the girls didn't really know what they wanted from her either, if this were a more realistic anime Yuri probably would of committed suicide at the end as she clearly had a whole lot of mental issues people like her, people who post on /a/ tend to have.
Overall it was a complicated mess of an anime that resolved itself in a lazy and wacky way as if to say "Jokes on you! We were only pretending to be dramatic!"
>>137834523 This. Everyone around her either gave her mixed signals or was no help at all. Yura wouldn't know what to do. >just have fun lol Okay >no, you need to take this more seriously O-okay >waah you're too serious, it's not fun anymore
>fuck these casuals, the only thing that matters is winning Right >how dare you care more about winning than following my rules, you selfish bitch Time to commit sudoku.
>>137834993 Thing is she's too fucked up to figure out a middle ground because she's lived a secluded existane and apparently some weird reality changing powers. Seriously, the fuck was up with that? It was unexplained and the fact that the show ended with her revealing that ability to her friends and them just fucking around with it to fight aliens, pirates and robots made it seem like it's a power just anyone can do. Nobody questions it, nobody asks questions, they just roll with it. Ganiex mentally fucked me one last time before dying and I felt like a dirty slut for liking it.
>>137833183 Nothing. She was USED from the beginning and then dumped by everyone and then made out to be the bad guy and it was bullshit. She started insecure, shy, she was just trying to get along in school. She could have done that. Instead she got dragged through repeated, concerted effort into participating in this sport that involves simulated war that she had zero previous exposure too by a bunch of weapon nuts who were all senior. Okay fine, she has a chance to get some confidence, make some friends, get some exercise, and overall have a good time. Except then they teach her jack shit in terms of anything but technical skills, shit on her every which way as she tries to make them happy, start to finish. They had lots of chances to actually act like the experience senpai they were and set things right but never did, then she's the problem. Fucking stupid.
>>137834816 >She didn't realize that when normals do something, they don't do it seriously. It's only a means for socialization and sex, they don't truly care about the activity. You forgot that in addition normals lie about that too. They'll still CLAIM they're doing it seriously and that they care, and then they'll get angry if someone else does it better and tell them to "lighten up". If Yura had more life experience she'd realize the rest of the club just wanted another useful warm body and didn't actually sink that much of themselves into it, but she didn't so she got taken in. Such is life in high school for someone coming from the sticks.
>>137835887 Yeah, it actually knew what it wanted to be and just had fun with it. Whereas this just had no idea, or they wanted to pull some "looks light but isn't thing" and really failed to make it all gel and progress logically.
Imagine if Yura had just been roommates with someone from the flower club or tea club or something instead. Or the art club maybe, reality warping imagination would probably be pretty darn handy there. She could have been happy and not jerked around.
Congratulations you won a meaningless worthless game no one will remember in a years time. You devoted your life to a worthless pursuit meanwhile everyone who hung around with the cool fun kids will remember them always as the cool kid who was fun to be around.
>>137836174 Where? Because if you mean the airsoft club then hell no. Those were energetic people with a niche hobby but very much normals, not geeks. They were extroverted, socially adjusted, often popular, etc. The only one who had the geek mindset there was Yura herself, from her insecurity at the start to her deep dive once she got into it to her inability to understand that when others asked her to do something she wasn't supposed to take it 100% seriously.
>>137836139 >Shit, were they going for female Shinji Ikari? Never thought of it that way, but I guess they did.
>>137836201 She did Say 'I Love You' in 2014 then dropped off the face of the earth. Looks like she was in modeling. Maybe she gave up being seiyuu and went back to it. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm5477474/
>>137836409 Yeah, though given what a trainwreck of "we have no fucking clue what we wanted to do with this show" the entire thing was I guess it oddly kind of fit. Total whiplash yet again? Sure, whatever you say Gainax.
>>137836546 But it was set up and then they did nothing with it. That was frustrating. There was a really clear ending that should've happened and it didn't.
In my mind, the way this show happened was that some writer got put on a project he didn't give a fuck about for an adaptation of something unpopular with no story. So they created this character story about Yura's insecurities and frustrations, and at the very last episode, a producer went "what the fuck" and ran the whole thing back. I think boredom and confused marketing are the only motivations that could result in this clusterfuck.
