Hayate no Gotoku is so fucking good I don't understand how it mixed so many different genres and after 50+ tankoubons it could still be interesting and not predictable.

Damn, this is too much plot development for one chapter (by Hayate standards at least). So now that Hayate has multiple kings jewels, he only needs a large amout of negative emotion to open the path to the garden/palace. I'm going to guess that Nagi will open the path when she finds out that Hayate doesn't love her.

I'm curious as to how Nagi's parents play into this. From the flashbacks we've been getting, we know that her mother is connected to the royal garden somehow. Perhaps she will be waiting there as a spirit or something? I doubt that Hayate is related to her father, and since he was born before the father died, he can't be a reincarnation either.

But does anyone else think the plot has been moving too fast in this arc? I want this manga to finally end like everyone else, but I'd hate to get a rushed ending with loose ends. Which reminds me, I remember reading in a Magi thread that every manga in Shonen Sunday was being forced to end. Has anyone else heard anything about this?

Kind of. It started off as a decent gag manga, and when the plot got going it got pretty good. Then we got like a 5 year period where the quality took a nose dive, but the manga has gone back to being great in this past arc. It's also close to being finished.

Try reading the first few chapters and see if you like it.

I don't understand how he could be her father though. There isn't any blood relation between the two since we've already met Hayate's parents (I'll asume that they're his real parents since his brother would have said something otherwise when they met on the beach two arcs ago).

I also don't think he can be a reincarnation. Hayate is 16 and Nagi is 13 (correct me if I'm wrong here), so when Nagi was born Hayate was already 3. We know that Nagi's father passed away before she was born, so it had to be around ~9 months prior to that, which is still 2 years after Hayate was born.

The only other option would be if the father's spirit found its way into Hayate somehow. Which might actually be a possibility, if we assume that Can't Take My Eyes Off You is canon and that it happened prior to this chapter.
