Megumi Hayashibara is absolutely enthralling as Miyokichi. Absolutely the best anime this season.
Deen is fucking back!
This lad is stone fucking cold.
Why doesn't he just end whatever they have and end her suffering.
Is Miyokichi Yakumo's mistress and 'dating' Kiku?
>easily a contender for AOTY
according to RC, alot of the content this episode (and the anime thusfar) has been original content. that's really fucking impressive, from writing/series composition standpoint and direction standpoint. add to that the AAA++ voice cast, deen is pulling all the stops for this production
That scene is right after he met with he met with his master, who also likes her. I think he felt guilty after that and tried to stay away.
Bon likes her (maybe not romantically) even though he doesn't frequently show it. It's just that he puts his career first and he's not aware just how much his actions hurt Miyukichi.
Arguable. Could be that the master is just one of her many clients and/or he believes that she's his mistress (since he might feel like she owes him for giving her a job after the war).
One thing is for certain, Miyokichi doesn't return his feelings because she's fixated on Bon.
They're closer to entertainers or escorts than prostitutes. They give company, conversation, and entertainment (they need to know how to play an instrument and dance) to any men who pays for it. By being a client of a geisha, it means you're her patron. You come to a shop to see her and you may provide her with gifts.
They may flirt with you but they're always the one in charge. Some geisha did sell sex back then, but it would be looked down upon in high-class establishments.
For hookers in that time period, you go for courtesans found in pleasure quarters.
Was it rape?
These are whores. Left or right?
Not going to lie. Neglecting is hot.
Right all the way. Would love to also put a peal necklace on her, if you know what I mean.
Left looks like she's trying too hard.
Doesn't count. It's been running for two decades now.
Why is she still here? Just to suffer?
Yeah, that hairstyle too. 50s housewife is fucking underrated.
No having group sex with Sukeroku, way to disappoint him.
>Why is she still here? Just to suffer?
You how how you still hope for a S2 of a certain anime you love even though you know that it'll probably never happen?
And even though it hurts just thinking about it, you still hold on?
You grasp at every pachinko release, every "important" announcement, every manga or game spin-off, as signs that it'll come back to you. But every time, it falls short of your expectations - it lets you down. Somehow though, you still can't let it go, as if that faint glimmer of hope is what keeps you feeling alive. Because all you want is to have that S2.
Yeah, that's how Miyokichi feels toward an anime called Kikuhiko.
Just fuck her already.
How hard can it be?
>go to Manchuria to perform for the troops and get trapped there by the war
>shack up with a bitch because you're probably going to die before making it home
>war ends and you return to Japan having survived your years-long ordeal
>crazy bitch follows you and makes you accept her as your mistress while she actively services other men and starts stalking your students
Seriously, the right whispers and Yakumo could have had that bitch disappeared but he was enslaved to that pussy.
So they have Megumi? I guess I'll try watching it then. Skipped it because didn't feel like watching 40 minutes ep 1 in January. Plus every time I see non-moe anime I'm afraid it's gonna be edgy seinen.
Literally who I'm talking about.
What are you talking about?
It's fairly obvious that he has feelings for her. He just deems the job more important right now, as it's really the last job he's capable of doing.
Yeah, Megumi is a major character in the show. She also sang the OP and it's favorite this season.
It's definitely not edgy, and you will come to care about the characters as the episodes go on. Get ready for a long ass flash back though. We're still at it and will be until ep 10, maybe.
It's a huge part of it, but the manga does go back to the present day. Though I wouldn't be surprised if we do stick to the flashbacks until the last ep.
Honestly, I wouldn't mind as long as we get a season two and we see the whole thing get adapted.
From what I've read, atashi is used as a cute, feminine version of watashi. Mostly girls use it, and also gay men to stress their femininity.
The way I see it, it could be any or all of these things:
- Kikuhiko was raised by and surrounded with women in his childhood. Could be that he picked it up and never let go of the habit.
- He's pretty feminine and he may be gay. Maybe he finds it more comfortable saying atashi
- This anon >>137670470. It's the dialect used to perform rakugo. Atashi was used by both men and women in that dialect back then.
I can't help but feel sorry for Miyokichi, I hope she ends up happy ;_;
I've never seen someone follow the "bros before hoes" rule as diligently as Bon
So homely, would date and satisfy.
I wish I never clicked this, FUCK YOU IF THIS IS TRUE.
Do you think she'll wait the other nights like she said?
Have all they done is kiss?
