No you're shit. A flashback arc is fine as long as it makes sense, which it does in this case because he was in coma after recently. He's basically re-learning his whole life.
He woke up from the coma five chapters ago and we're talking about 30 pages-long chapters here. The pacing went to absolute shit and it'll stay like this for a few chapters more.
It's all about the execution and the execution is absolute shit, it's something that can take two, or three chapters top.
The author needed it to stretch it out for the anime and the best he came up with was spamming flashbacks and pages like these >>137640821 >>137640854
First, it's not like every page of these recent chapters was a flashback. Second, the author also had to reintroduce all the main players again after the coma thing. Third, there's nothing wrong about pages like >>137640821 >>137640854
Look there are downtimes in any story. You can't keep the tension up forever. Besides this is the typical calm before the storm kind of thing. From the next chapter on is showdown time.
I don't mind downtimes in a story but it went from 100 ("this isn't my car") to 10 (everything after that) in such a short time it's jarring. Especially since many chapters have passed and it still hasn't recovered from that fall.
I for one liked this chapter. I thought it was cute how Satoru slowly realized how important Airi was to him.
It's sad that he decided not to approach her, but I understand why he did. I still hope he'll go meet her after catching the killer though.
Not necessarily. They are other things that are most likely to be skipped over. Pretty much everything from chapter 25 to 34 except for the one when the killer throws Satoru into the lake.
From chapters 35 through 40, a lot of things will be cut, but I doubt this almost-meeting between Satoru and Airi will be one of them. It's necessary for Satoru's character development.
And chapter 41 through 44 will probably be condensed into one episode.
Man this manga truly has the worst art i've ever seen. Less consistent than an amateur drawing doujinshi of a series they like
Such and stupid TL note. Of course Satoru's thoughts aren't necessarily romantic. But that's obvious and there's no need for such an obnoxious "clarification". Besides, it's not like they put notes like this every time Satoru and Kayo had one of their moments.
>Pretty much everything from chapter 25 to 34
I don't think you could logically skip over Kenya's backstory, but the anime not adapting Satoru and Misato's little chat makes me think that they just might condense all of those chapters.
On the other hand, mangaka should've done better job explaining why Kayo ended up with Hitomi instead of saying "lol surprise"
Either he was given a deadline or he's just bad at writing endings
>waaah waaahh I can't enjoy a piece of fiction because exchanging worthless opinions about the piece of fiction on anonymous imageboard is more important to me than the piece of fiction itself
You're a worthless retard.
If you can't enjoy something anymore because of the other people who like it then you need to get a life
He's bad at writing endings. If the deadline was an issue then his remaining chapters would be rushing from one plot point to the next in rapid pace. So it would be a problem of too much information or too many reveals happening one after the other.
The bad writing is why there are so many flashbacks and voice over narration, with pages of MC just walking or recovering.
>On the other hand, mangaka should've done better job explaining why Kayo ended up with Hitomi instead of saying "lol surprise"
What explanation do you want? Satoru was in a come for 15 years. During that time anything could happen. Kayo getting married wasn't really that surprising. The oposite would have been more surprising, all things considering.
The fact that she married Hiromi was unexpected since they hadn't talked to each other before. But again, 15 fucking years. More than enough time to get close and fall in love and whatever.
Honestly, only shipperfags would have a problem with this. But considering volume 7 sold above 300k, the author has no reason to give a damn about shipping.
I'm not joking.
They were rooting hard for Kayo and after that scene, about half of them left and the project was put into purgatory until the anime was announced or something.
I've heard some rumors about the anime changing shit up with the end to accomodate Kayo, but that would be massive levels of fanpandering
Well, not that guy but it's not weird for 25 years old to be single in Jap 2004. It's actually common.
Anyways, the author just set Kayo in the stone with Hiromi to pave way for SatoruxAiri and this ship is end game...that being said I think this chapter was such a waste of time because they will meet again in the last chapter, it's obvious.
>the author just set Kayo in the stone with Hiromi to pave way for SatoruxAiri and this ship is end game
That's just a shipper's point of view.
Don't get me wrong, Satoru and Airi might meet again. But I don't think Kayo getting married and having a child happened for that reason. It happened because the baby is a tangible representation of Kayo's future (heck, the baby's name is Mirai -future-). And the one who made it possible for Kayo to have a future was Satoru. So that baby is the materialization of his efforts. That's why it was so important that Kayo would show up with her baby in tow when he woke up from the coma. It's the literal prove that what Satoru just went through wasn't pointless.
And I can tell you those tears of his weren't bitter tears. They were tears of utter happiness.
Pretty sure Satoru's tears were coming from the readers and those who sunk in the ship
Hype kids and shitposters will literally kill anything. That's why I wait for shows like this to be over for well over a year before I even begin to consider bothering with them. It's way more enjoyable and less noisy that way and I can just focus on enjoying shit or dropping it on my own terms. If there's one thing I've noticed in recent times and experiments anime is substantially more enjoyable when consumed at the maximum distance from it's shitheel fanbase. I make sure to mix interaction with the two as little as possible nowadays.
I agree this is a thriller/mystery/suspense story , not a high school slice of life love story. The entire point of this is mc defending his town from the tragic traumatic event. ( Just hope the MC will at least come out of o.k and any ship will help)
