I wonder about one thing though. If during these long term "revivals" he travels back to his past self, once these are over does his consciousness just travel back to his future self, blanking out on what happens in the years in between? That would explain why he didn't save his mum or at least make something different happen but then again, what would his past self be after the revival is over? Would he just be like he was before the revival and if so, how would he explain the events that occurred in the past few days?
