How does the manga compare to the VN?

The anime and manga are much harder and expensive to product, which CAN result in a more refined result, which selected the most important parts of the original content and threw the bullshit out. When it's well done.

Basically, the manga is a better medium than the poorly stuck together sprites, backgrounds, texts and musics.

But how does the manga compare to this VN?

And the manga is as good as the VN, and if anything the ep8 manga version is way better. One for another, the OST isn't here but there are plenty of other stuffs.

The soundtrack and sound design are absolutely amazing and even though the manga is pretty good it doesn't measure up to the VN as a result.

Well, I know manga don't have soundtracks. I just tend to forget than even if manga are somehow put together in a better way than threw together VN elements, VN also have it's unique aspects compared to manga (here the music and the fact it is more written).

I'd also say that that scene works better without the voice acting, so the vocals at the beginning of the song is more shocking, but I can't find a scene of that on youtube so oh well.

The manga has its art and panelling composition to replace that. It's not "worse", it's different.

The best way is obviously to read both versions. But the manga totally works as a standalone. You're making it look like only the OST matters. What matters first is the story.

I can at least agree on this. I'm just really attached to the umineko soundtrack is all. It's one of the first things that comes to mind when someone mentions umineko.

If you liked the VN, the manga does give more info and does a lot of scenes better then in the VN. Just have the Umineko OST in the background.

However I wouldn't ever suggest reading the manga first before the VN.
