What's the deal yo?
I haven't kept up with this series but it looks like it's on hiatus again?
Any news on what is going on? I know about the whole anime fiasco, but that doesn't involve the manga series at all.
Is this just another mangaka wasting time???
Really pisses me off too cause most of those guys were my favs.
Collected books yet had to wait forever to even get content.
Still upset Hirano never finished the Hellsing flashback shit.
Marathoned all of Black Lagoon last year, fell in love with it, jumped straight into the manga.
Imagine my extreme sadness when I only got half an arc and discovered it was on hiatus for like a year at that point.
>but it looks like it's on hiatus again?
Like it has always been, no?
Hiroe will continue when he needs money again.
If Berserk made it, BL can too.
I am seriously doubting that he is covered in money.
Besides the anime, manga, some super exclusive figures, and maybe some small trinkets here and there...I don't think that would give a man enough.
Does he even do anything else besides Black Lagoon atm? I know Hirano moved on to some manga, everyone knows what's happening with fucking Miura, and Togashi is a sepperate piece of work...
Third season when? I just watched through this anime over the past week and it was fucking fun, but the character development was just reaching a point where it could really take off right at the end.
Roberta's Blood Trail doesn't count, even though I enjoyed it
I love shit like this. Also don't worry this isn't porn its the oneshot where the cast of Black Lagoon are portrayed as actors and it delves into it.
Who knows, I remember when it was delayed cause of bullshit, people didn't even know if Roberta's Blood Trail was going to even happen or not.
I would be more concerned about the manga, cause no manga = no anime.
Hey, can anybody tell the fuck everybody was pissed with Rock at the end of Roberta's Blood Trail? I did not get it at all. He saved their sorry asses with his masterplan, managed to crawl under Roberta's amphetamin saturated skin, saved shota from mafia, american ops from Roberta and Roberta from Balalaika. What was the little maid's point when she showed fake bullet and called Rock the most vicious villain in the city?
The point is that Garcia, Mini-Maid (forgot her name, shit), and even Roberta to a certain extent aren't really 'a part' of Roanapur like Rock and everyone else is.
What Rock did to 'win' was perfectly sane in the context of the insanity of Roanapur, but to any outsiders it (rightfully) comes off as completely batshit insane and manipulative.
Roberta's Blood Trail was basically just showing off how much of a competent asshole Rock has become. He's getting into the meat and potatoes of the game, and worse, it's extremely evident he's enjoying it.
Not the same anon but im guessing it has to do with the fact that he looks like a white sheep yet may be the most dangerous one in that twisted city. He really is a skilled with manipulation and tactics.
Obviously might mean something big for the finale of the manga but with how things are going who the fuck knows.
>What Rock did to 'win' was perfectly sane in the context of the insanity of Roanapur, but to any outsiders it (rightfully) comes off as completely batshit insane and manipulative.
Whaaaaa...? Roberta was buttshit INSANE at that moment and they asked him to get shit out of head. How was he supposed to do that to bitch that broke blade with her teeth? He managed to shock her and thus she came back to earth... So what's the problem?
> Roberta's Blood Trail was basically just showing off how much of a competent asshole Rock has become. He's getting into the meat and potatoes of the game, and worse, it's extremely evident he's enjoying it.
Well I've got that. He had helluva rapeface when explaining plan to Garcia, but then what? He really wanted them to be allright after his fiasco in Japan.
Dude he completely rejected Garcia's offer until he "Started finding the whole thing interesting".
At the end of his gambit, while watching several horribly maimed people be carted onboard, he gleefully giggled and said "Yeah, this is definitely the best outcome!"
He needed that (literal) shot to the chest.
God Rock is such a based MC. The way he grows from that scared typical Japanese Businessman in the first episode into one of Roanapur's most dangerous players by RBT is just beautiful.
>Dude he completely rejected Garcia's offer until he "Started finding the whole thing interesting".
Well, I don't know. You do have a point there, but I really thought he just tried to be edgy after Japan. Guilt and whatever. Whould it be otherwise, I think Revy would tell him or hit him or shot him.
>At the end of his gambit, while watching several horribly maimed people be carted onboard, he gleefully giggled and said "Yeah, this is definitely the best outcome!"
Well, that was creepy, but he was right. I think in anime they exagerrated it with Roberta's wounds. Then again, there was bunch of dead ops. But still it was a little unfair.
Yes, at some point during the Japan arc, it's stated that she really likes his "white sheep" side and gives her the illusion of being normal or something.
It's been so long, but there's something like that.
What a twist would it be if:
Revy sees the man she loves turn into a monster, which fuels her to leave Roanapur forever and become an average citizen.
Rock becomes one of the biggest gang bosses by either killing Bala or Chang.
We had some miracles happening lately so everything is possible.
Do you think Rock has "earned" such an upgrade. He was always a normal guy caught in a abnormal situation and while he was not a dumbass he didn't show any crazy planning skills. Where did he learn to be such a manipulator? Ether he's grown more than what we've seen or that the guy has always been a master strategist
Kinda. In episode 7, Rock realizes that the rip-off church was taking some profit away from Hotel Moscow and blackmailed Yolanda. He tried to do the same when he returned to Tokyo, but Balalaika put him in his place.
So, basically Rock is a bad guy because unlike any other person in Roanapur he chose the city by his own accord and actually enjoys it? Is he going to be like Balalaika once his thin "normal gay" habits melt away?
Black Lagoon starts becoming unenjoyable when it tries to be more than guns shooting. The real reason why Hiroe dropped it is that he have no fucking idea how to write characters, and its painfully evident just by going a bit further than the chapters where the characters get defined
he should simply hire a writer
but he's too lazy and autistic for that
I was literally going to post this earlier but my browser fucked up and I gave up.
Great point tho. He was destined to become a strong force.
Rock was made just so readers could get a foot-hold into the world. It's a commonly used method in all entertainment fields. Rei Hiroe even mentions this, saying his readers for early drafts couldn't get into the manga.
He's like Walter White in that he's slowly let himself be corrupted by his surroundings. He opted for this life style and stays there and slowly keeps falling into line with the rest of the city. That's what that showed. Mini maid figured out that while he did manage the best option for the parties involved or at least, Roberta's and Garcia's party, while moral motivations were there he got a pretty great kick from it.
That's why mini maid had a go at him, because he, at the end of the day had the smile of the dead because he's apart of the city despite his moral interest however increasing irrelevant it's getting (guess he's slowly getting sick of it blowing up in his face).
The same here
>when he needs money
I doubt it, Hiroe is one of the better artists out there, so I heard he does a lot of illustration work, and there's always porn, except if he doesn't have a severe cocaine addiction I doubt he has money problems.
Yeah but for long, he came back from the hiatus several times this past couple of years, but every time he releases like 2 chapters before going back on hiatus again.
Probably he always had that potential, it's just that everybody deemed him a failure since the beginning in Japan which like many other people makes you think that you really are a failure, so he didn't have motivation for anything, I mean how miserable your life has to be that you see Roanapur and pirate business as a chance for new life.
Having Rock just disregard Revy would also be refreshing.
Wouldn't it be great to have him just tell Revy he ain't changing for shit, and then just telling dutch he's taking some vacation to later see him rent some cheap room in Roana Pour and get himself in a new adventure with a totally new team?
Fuck predestined lovers.
Because he stepped into the darkness out of the twilight by manipulating everyone. Garcia notes that Rock's expression changes and if you look at his face it looks more like Changs, Balalaika, Revy, etc. Even his grin gains the small fangs they have that weren't present before.
Revy was especially pissed because she doesn't want to see her "garden of roses" (Rock) become just like everyone else in Roanapur.
The official manga volumes have a few more pages than the magazine version and it shows roberta in a wheelchair, so the anime did go abit far by maiming her like that but it won't interfere with anything if they decide to make more sequels.
All I know is that if the anime keeps Rock on the path that he started going in RBT, he's going to eventually kill someone and abandon the twilight entirely. He will also start losing the relationship that he gained with Revy if that happens.
I think what he meant is the loss of her left arm, right leg, two fingers on her right hand, and one of her eyes.
Well, tough shit. You dragged him into it, Revy, should you be surprised that he got tainted by exposure to you and your lifestyle?
It goes with the territory.
Rock will probably grow into quite the fixer in his time, really. In a quiet, light handed way of course.
He will have people who do the head breaking.
He won't be the worst person out there, not the best either, but not the worst.
>her left arm, right leg, two fingers on her right hand, and one of her eyes.
Her left arm does seem excessive. And I didn't notice her eye got shot out, only figured she got grazed in the forehead. Ton of blood, though.
He's too busy drawing porn and getting payed for making collaborations to bother with Black Lagoon.
I just want this asshole to finish Black Lagoon in the next 10 years. There's no reason to keep dragging out the inevitable at this point.
Exactly, but are you really surprised at Revy's reaction? She beats him up all the time for doing shit she doesn't like. But the key difference this time is that Rock's manipulative nature reminds her of her father which is why she's having those flashbacks.
AFAIC the only things that were injured badly were her two fingers that fell off from the Claymore and her right leg that got shot by the US Army marksman. But even then she ran away on that leg.
I have no idea why her left arm is gone. She used it to hold the gun in her standoff with Garcia.
Because they, especially the midget maid, are just bunch of ungraceful, selfish, stupid assholes who care more about their useless feeling rather than their own life (and everyone else's). They could have all died without Rock. The maid shot Rock because she thought he put her little shota master into danger while in truth he saved his sorry ass.
>ngraceful, selfish, stupid assholes who care more about their useless feeling
More simply put, naive. You'd think the ex-slum girl would have more pragmatism, but her viewpoint might be a conscious reaction to her background. She was simply reacting the way her parents would have reacted to the situation?
>Too bad he's losing what made him attractive for Revy.
Nope. She is completely devoted to him and will literally do anything he tell her to. To put it in her words, she is the bullet and he is the gun, she will pierce through anything he points to.
You remember it wrong. In Japan, Revy basically told Rock she didn't want him to loose his kind-hearted side and he should return to his normal life for the better, since it could well be his last chance. But obviously he chose to remain by her side.
I quite prefer the ending would be the destruction of Roanapur and it would be turned into a beautiful park just like what happened to the Kowloon Walled City.
With that, All of the criminal elements would go on their separate businesses else where with no resolution.
Garcia told Minimaid he was sick of being controlled by adults, specifically Rock.
The Minimaid shot him with the blank because she was pissed off that Rock gambled with Garcia's life against Roberta.
>To put it in her words, she is the bullet and he is the gun, she will pierce through anything he points to.
Other way around. Rock is the silver bullet that will destroy anything it hits and Revy is the gun.
I want her to die. Painfully. Chinglish didn't deserve that.
But a gamble nonetheless. As Minimaid put it a "Cambodian roulette". Even Rock said that the best bets in the world come down to luck. Garcia could have easily been killed, Roberta actually shot him too. He was lucky that it hit him in the gut and not the chest.
>last update 2014
It's not like the maid could provide a better plan. If Rock wasn't there, the chance Garcia along with many others getting killed would have been much higher. Yes, he couldn't guarantee their definite survival, but he gave them their best chance to survive nonetheless. At least they should say thank.
She was pissed off. She did exactly what Revy did.
Yea, he saved them with his schemes. But she didn't like the manipulative way that he did it. I'm not being apologetic for her I'm just stating why she did it.
Okay. It's good to know I wasn't dense enough to at least pick up on that. I figured it was like a movie such as Hunt for Red October where the Russians speak Russian and then switch to English with accents for ease of dialogue.
>My name is Iniga Montoya
>I killed your father
Everybody is saying that rock is becoming so dark but I thought in the end Rock ultimately did what he did to save a life for once because he hadn't been able to before no matter how much he tried.
Like when he tried to play the cards during the yakuza story and he couldn't save that bitch.
Also it makes me butthurt to think about revy disliking rock
They belong together t.bh
could have sworn that the release was in 2015
>Rock isn't becoming dark
Does this look like a face of the twilight to you?
>Rock ultimately did what he did to save a life for once because he hadn't been able to before no matter how much he tried.
True. But he was also trying to crush Chang's control over drugs in Roanapur in the same fell swoop by getting the US Army involved. It wasn't selfless at all. As some other anon said it's similar to how Walter White kept telling himself that he was doing his meth underworld stuff for his family.
>Balalaika is ready to blow Rock's brains out until he acts as though they are the same
>Revy gets pissed, demanding to know how her and Fabiola are different
They obviously do care.
Revy best waifu
I got dibs so go home everyone
>you got dibs
Enjoy your second asshole
It's just an announcement that they remade a figurine that wasn't produced anymore with some improvement.
>the story just keeps pushing Rock further down the dark path
Nope, it doesn't. He's just becoming more pragmatic. What he did benefited everyone in the end of day. He didn't commit any bad deed for selfish reasons.
>But he was also trying to crush Chang's control over drugs in Roanapur in the same fell swoop
What? This is news to me. The Americans were there to nab a dictator, had nothing to do with Chang's operations at all. Chang just wanted the Americans out of Roanapur so that they can avoid aggro'ing the US.
Rock explains this. He says that by involving the US Army in the drug refining center where the final confrontation is he hopes that they will shut it down and Chang will lose.
And then nothing happens.
You don't understand what pragmatism means. I suggest consulting the Webster English dictionary.
US was already there for the drugs, the mission was to take out one of the Golden triangle generals and get one of there own in. Eda was trying to swing it so that the CIA ended up in charge of the drugs and having the NSA owing them a favor and putting them in their place.
That is why Roberta had to track them down, and why she took out that village because she knew from Eda where they were going.
Chang deal is that he is Shipping hub of the Triangle and shit that effect the upstream hurt the downstream. so he wanted them as far away from both as possible but Crazy bitch is harder to do business with than a puppet drug lord. so he dealt with the harder problem first and was working the backdoor deal with Eda/CIA which is why he got pissed when shit went sideways in that deal
