I think the simplest approach is to write a greasemonkey script and dump things browser level, but I don't think js supports batch downloads so you'd have to save every page manually I think

The scans are all like this, I'd probably need to crop them. Turns out I actually have a script for chapter 10 date modified 8/27/2012 so I may release that and then upload the rest of what I've got, which is raws through 15 (end of volume 2).

Aight guys, I concocted a very useful action for redrawing that helped me immensely, so I decided to share.

The set contains the original action I found somewhere (it works with the whole page) and two actions for selection with white/black background.
How to use: Make sure the page is leveled. Select anything you would like to see devoid of background. Run the action.

Speaking of actions, how do I go about making an action that would clean the bubble in one hotkey press? Just expanding/contracting selection doesn't work quite well.

What is the proper etiquette for dropped projects? About two months ago some translator dropped a project only 3 of 15 volumes in and ask that no one host or use his TL. My group is thinking of picking it up. Should we just straight rip his shit? Paraphrase? or start from volume 1?

Is there any need for physical manga as a raw source anymore? By the time I finish reading anything new, the raw is already on nyaa. I normally just give stuff I have read away to friends or keep the ones I like. I was thinking about donating them to a group to be unbinded and scanned, but after checking what I ordered this month all of the raws have been uploaded already. I guess people are just ripping the digital copies from e-book stores?

It does not seem like it's worth the time and trouble to find someone to de-spine and scan them then. I'm sure by the time I even manage to read and ship them out someone has already scanned anything without a digital release. It's scary fast. Seems like unless it's some low key title it won't matter.

Maybe this makes me seem pathetic, but do you guys ever get worn out by making scanlations for people who don't even seem to care? Right now I've got a tumblr user who keeps going through all of my translations and telling their many followers how bad they are, though in most cases their "corrections" are totally wrong or about something minor (like, "I would have phrased this differently"). It's really making me not want to do it anymore because almost all of the EOP readers seem to think this idiot is right.

Actually I think they're butthurt because they used to do translations of the series but would go months and months without updating it until I started doing it.

Newb question about the scanning process. Is there a way I can fiddle with the scan settings (or anything else) to prevent the opposite side of the page from peeking through? Is there a better way than putting a black surface behind the pages? I scan on a glassbed at 240 dpi.

It's not the scans, it's the lack of new chapters. Author put out the second tankobon but removed all the chapters digitally available so we can't do anything until the tank arrives.

I've been running Illuminati-Manga for 9 years now and while there have been a few slow spots, there hasn't been downright inactivity.

The longest active group is also one of the shittiest in scanlation history, JanimeS/Sura's Place. They've been doing daily scanlations for close to 13 years.
