Someone here explain to me, /m/'s insane hateboner for this series and it's sequal that they can't see to let go of. Surely it can't be worse then Valvrave, A/Z, G-Reco and IBO?
I don't think it's bad either, but Gundam-fags have been shitting on it endlessly. I gave up trying to argue against them. Basically if there aren't fights every episode it's bad.
>I gave up trying to argue against them
why would you every waste your time like that?
>SEED was pretty good.
Troll confirmed. It was meh (I am being generous) for about 28 episodes and then the last half was utter cancer. I still cant get over how many times I rolled my eyes with the reused animation and Kira saving the fucking day as usual. Even worse than AGE.
SEED's alright, nothing amazing. Destiny...well, it's better than A/Z at least. I don't think it's as bad as people make it out to be. It's very easy to watch, 50 episodes and I never had to force myself to keep going. I did have some fun watching it. Characters and story were a complete mess though.
Because Seed was shit, retard. I don't usually agree with /m/, but you must have the worst possible taste to think Seed is any good.
>Surely it can't be worse then Valvrave, A/Z, G-Reco and IBO?
They are all equally bad, with A/Z and Valverape being slightly worse.
First half SEED was okay.
Then Lacus hijack happened.
Rest of SEED was okay but disappointing.
Then DESTINY happened.
Then Kira died and shit got real.
Then Kira came back to life and hijacked the franchise while the central protagonist became the central antagonist.
Literally the greatest cucking in Gundam history.
The only good things to come out of Seed was the music, Some of this mecha designs and this guy who was a pretty great villain.
>while the central protagonist became the central antagonist
Shinn and Durandal had this Anakin and Palpatine dynamic going on, which I have to think was intentional (with Athrun being Obi-Wan, I guess). I have plenty of issues with how the last third of Destiny was handled, but I didn't mind Shinn's story arc as much as some.
The contrarians of /m/ hate SEED because it has mass appeal. Same reason they pretend that the early UC shows are masterpieces and have aged well. They want to distance themselves from normies, so they attach themselves to the nigh-impenetrable, esoteric works of Tomino.
Seed and destiny were terrible in that they were written poorly and just everything was handled badly but it was never boring(except for the back to back recap episodes that were the same except narrated by two different characters).
A real shitty gundam would have to be AGE since it just fucked up everywhere with it's only good thing being genocide Flit
They were also 15 episodes ago.
I'm fine with Shinn ending up as an antagonist. How everything was handled had major issues, but I don't mind the concept.
I think more than anything with the last third I had problems with how Durandal was handled. Him just taking control two superweapons and blurting out the Destiny Plan was really disappointing.
Probably the remaster. There's one scene around episode 28 or 29 where Kira kills a named character that got changed from the original in a really stupid way. Just be aware of that and watch the original scene when you get to it.
This. There are no less than 7 episides that you could write out of the show and you wouldn't notice they were gone. Even in the whole of 0079 there aren't that many that have so little effect. And they literally had to make episodes where amuro uses X or White Base fights Y.
The only bad 0079 episode was the island one, you could tell this episode had zero effort and serves no purpose to the narrative whatsoever, it's just a complete filler Tomino himself wanted to remove from the canon.
Kira was a bit of a
terriblecharacter in SEED, Lacus isn't a character, she's some sort of thing only Fukuda understands.
People exaggerate many aspects of it, it's bad, but not as bad as recent mecha. It's not a full on boring exposition quest like IBO and AZ, not as complicated a g-reco and not a real trainwreck till destiny. Just a regular mecha.
Seed had some pretty terrible writing
I get that it was a series aimed at teenagers, but it was still fucking terrible.
Also that scream was inexcusable. People shouldn't make that kind of sound.
>Someone here explain to me, /m/'s insane hateboner for this series
Because SEED is shit and has influenced almost every Gundam series that came after it. For some people it's when Gundam went to shit.
Unicorn is literally SEED: UC Edition
Mate, the best Gundam series came out after Zeta.
He should have fucked Lunamaria and forget about Cagalli desu
Fukuda's just some 70s super robot otaku, he doesn't care about the details as long as it's cool; it's probably part of the reason the Freedom attacks entirely in stock footage special moves. Anyone have that magazine interview he did where he talks about how much he loves star wars? That's what really drove it home for me.
I said good subs.
The screenshot's from Nyaa so don't be triggered by the VLC
Destiny is shit and no one can defend it. But Seed even with his slow start is a legit good.
SEED is bad is just a bad meme from /m/ because they cant handle teenage drama from a show that's not made by Tomino.
>But Seed even with his slow start is a legit good
It's not though. All of the drama is terrible, everyone is whiny, the evil guys are all literally hitler and the last cour or so is actually retarded
>All the drama is terrible, everynone is whiny.
They are fucking TEENAGERS is giant robot. Teens are dumb and whiny
>the evil guys are literally hitler
There are always been literal hitlers in Gundam.
>They are fucking TEENAGERS is giant robot. Teens are dumb and whiny
That's not an excuse for poor writing.
>There are always been literal hitlers in Gundam.
They're not usually so one dimensional though
He's the director of Dendoh, of course he's more of a super robot guy
IBO is unironically the worst entry at this point, at least Wing, SEEDestiny and AGE had their good points
Can't wait for IBO to get in the chart with no pros
At least "Easy to follow story" sounds good enough for the pros on the chart, don't you think?
No matter how putrid SEED writing got at times, the thing was a work of passion. Also Fukuda ripping off Tomino helped a bit on top of his actual understanding of how to get the best of a good sountrack.
