SEED's alright, nothing amazing. Destiny...well, it's better than A/Z at least. I don't think it's as bad as people make it out to be. It's very easy to watch, 50 episodes and I never had to force myself to keep going. I did have some fun watching it. Characters and story were a complete mess though.

Kira descending from the heavens and saving the Archangel as Meteor plays is one of my favorite anime scenes of all time.

Shinn and Durandal had this Anakin and Palpatine dynamic going on, which I have to think was intentional (with Athrun being Obi-Wan, I guess). I have plenty of issues with how the last third of Destiny was handled, but I didn't mind Shinn's story arc as much as some.

The contrarians of /m/ hate SEED because it has mass appeal. Same reason they pretend that the early UC shows are masterpieces and have aged well. They want to distance themselves from normies, so they attach themselves to the nigh-impenetrable, esoteric works of Tomino.

Seed and destiny were terrible in that they were written poorly and just everything was handled badly but it was never boring(except for the back to back recap episodes that were the same except narrated by two different characters).

A real shitty gundam would have to be AGE since it just fucked up everywhere with it's only good thing being genocide Flit

I think more than anything with the last third I had problems with how Durandal was handled. Him just taking control two superweapons and blurting out the Destiny Plan was really disappointing.

Probably the remaster. There's one scene around episode 28 or 29 where Kira kills a named character that got changed from the original in a really stupid way. Just be aware of that and watch the original scene when you get to it.

People exaggerate many aspects of it, it's bad, but not as bad as recent mecha. It's not a full on boring exposition quest like IBO and AZ, not as complicated a g-reco and not a real trainwreck till destiny. Just a regular mecha.
