So having only watched S1 of Aldnoah Zero, and having heard how shit S2 is should i just leave it where it is and pretend that Slane saved the day in the end and brought the Martians/Humans together?
Because if they brought back Inaho (An already shit character) and the Princess i'd drop it anyway.
Tell me, how badly did they butcher it?
They said this was supposed to surpass Gundam not be the saddest parody of it and Code Geass yet. I still don't know why A-1 insists on trying to do original action anime or original anime period. There seems to be a brutal disconnect between how awesome they think they are at it and how bad everyone is trying to tell them they are at it. It'd getting downright Lucas tier.
Yeah i did.
Got about 8minutes into it and i dropped it.
You're all right.
Why did they bring them all back?
What was the point of the finale of S1 then.
They got pretty close with season 1. It just felt like it was missing a few elements here and there. I was hoping season 2 would be alright, but the shit show we got made me want to throw up
There is only one reason to watch Aldnoah Zero
I honestly don't understand any of the decisions they made considering the plot. Like the other anon said, anything you thought up would likely be a more entertaining scenario. They probably cliffhanger'd the ending to S1 just so people would stick around longer, or maybe they wanted some character developement they never carried through.
>What was the point of the finale of S1 then.
The rise and fall of Count Slaine Troyard Saazbaum.
Princess marries Cruhteo's son who is introduced in the last 3 episodes.
Inaho and Slaine realize they are gay for each other, so after a year of rehabilitation to pull Slaine from a crippling depression, they live together.
>RED ROSES MEANS I LOVE YOU.
>BLUE ROSES MEANS MIRACLE AND IMPOSSIBILITY.
Slaine gives Inaho a bouquet of blue roses for his birthday.
There are parts worth watching, basically the Mars side.
Princess Lemrina is miles better than her sister.
There's also heterosexual married sex.
Masuo Ueda: Ya gotta have a cliffhanger, you just gotta! That's how Sunrise did it with Code Geass in 2007! Clearly this is the key to our success!
Ei Aoki: Yep gotta have the cliffhanger! What if we had the two MC's point guns at each other while grimacing only this time actually have the main main get shot point blank in the head. Even Code Geass didn't go that far!
Masuo Ueda: Holy fuck are we brilliant, now that we've surpassed Code Geass we'll surely surpass Gundam with the second season and I'll be free from them forever! Aoki I love you man!
Ei Aoki: Yep I'm the greatest! I directed Fate/Zero after all!
I imagine it went something like that.
Longer haired Lemons when?
Also reminder that Ass and Lemons father loved Lemon's mother even if she was a Terran, while he just married Ass' mother before meeting her out of obligation. He would have liked to spend his life with Lemrina and her mother.
>Pretty much the most iconic mecha series of all time that has spawned a massive sprawling multimedia franchise that has lasted through 5 decades all of which have heavily involved it's original creator at least once.
>Also ran mecha show #25 by a company that's barely been around for a decade made with a bunch of popular trendy people taking part that spawned all of a phoned in second season that it didn't seem like anybody involved in the project even wanted to do, especially the guy credited as it's original creator who somehow manages to make Yoshiyuki Tomino look open to talking about Gundam at conventions in comparison.
Yeah I don't know I'd still say it has a hell of a ways to go.
Watch up episode 15, episode 18 at most if you feel masochistic. After that stop. Episode 15 is the best one of the series, in my opinion. But it does downhill after that.
Honestly I wouldn't even call the show exceptionally bad, just par for the course post 2010 Aniplex mecha original bad. I don't see how it's any better or worse than say Valvrave, Guilty Crown, Star Driver and the like. Maybe if they'd just stop making the same mistakes over and over and over again and figure out what they did with stuff like Gurren Lagann it'd be a start in the right direction. If it were me I'd start with not hiring people like Urobuchi, Aoki, Sawano and Okouchi anymore just because they are trendy and some of them worked on mecha hits like Geass and Unicorn and start hiring people that actually know what they are doing in some capacity in the positions that matter like director and series composition. I mean for fucks sake Aoki said his main sources for inspiration for Aldnoah Zero were Mobile Suit Gundam and Hades Project Zeorymer. If people don't know what Zeorymer is I'd suggest going to watch it as I can see where the influence is from and it'll explain a lot.
Fuck it here's the first episode, you can just rinse/repeat that 4 times pretty much while swapping in a different token robot of the week and that's literally the show.
Ueda: Thank you very much. Aniplex and A-1 Pictures is impressive, right? [In English] I'm a lucky boy! [In Japanese] I consider myself very lucky and the company is lucky too. Aniplex and A-1 Pictures have a subsidiary relationship. Is anyone familiar with the studio?
Rivera: You guys know what the studio is? Raise your hands!
Ueda: When you go home, please talk to everyone about A-1 Pictures and let them know. Aniplex and A-1 Pictures always strive to take on new challenges. Aniplex is the company that does all the marketing and greenlights projects while A-1 Pictures animates these projects. I think the combo is one of the strongest in the industry.
Rivera: Can you tell us a bit about production and management?
Ueda: Having been a producer I went into management, that's because I believe a producer is something best done by young people. It was a young producer who went on to make these titles. We have a lot of good producers.
Rivera: Can you talk about A-1 Pictures originals?
Ueda: One thing they both want to do is original stories. We always want to make something that isn't based on a manga or a novel. Through that policy we came out with Madoka Magica which was very well received. Another is anohana.
Rivera: What's the strongest combination?
Ueda: We formed the strongest party around with Aniplex and A-1 Pictures.
Rivera: What's the next stage?
Ueda: The next stage of our development is to make something that would supersede Gundam. I think we need digital technology to achieve that. At A-1 we've experimented with a couple of 3D animation technologies. Let's take a look at a couple of those.
Rivera: These are original clips.
[Clips of 3D objects and action scenes are shown]
Ueda: Thank you. 3D needs to be prominent but the most important thing is a good story and plot. I hope we'll be able to show our new original robot animation as soon as possible. Please look forward to it.
For the record this is the real Aniplex Guy (not the imaginary /a/ one) that they got to do their promotions for them at conventions and in canned interviews on ANN and the like. They literally thought that little of the American fanbase that this is the caliber of professionalism, general intellect and vocabulary that they chose to go with of as the American face of the company during this Just Do It phase that is still kind of going in a way albeit with less bullshit claims per interview.
Pretty sure he's since left the company to join Atlus as a PR person instead where the brand doesn't just inspire general loathing in fans by default. Probably just got tired of getting absolutely shit on every convention over bad pricing schemes and not being able to do anything that involved going off script.
No matter how many times it gets posted and referenced this will never stop being hilarious for the sheer bullshit factor. The astonishing levels of arrogance about their first real foray into the mecha genre, how they immediately aimed straight for the highest possible fruit, the complete fucking nonsense about 3DCGI and the bit about having to remember the importance of good story and plot all in relation to Aldnoah/Zero in retrospect is just priceless. I mainly just want to know what it was they showed the audience, especially considering A-1 never even ended up handling the CGI parts which were farmed out entirely to Troyca instead.
