I've literally seen one SHAFT show I could even call tolerable and that was the Madoka Magica TV series. For whatever reason Shinbo was just able to set the usual antics aside long enough for them to get a decent enough story and character development in those 12 episodes, granted it didn't last into the movie trilogy. Kyoani has at least had handful of watchable shows and even Hibike Euphonium was at least tolerable last year if you completely ignored the shitposting and just stuck with the show. You can also at least sum up Kyoani as more than just two franchises that were gifted to them by big producers....well sort of.....okay not really. You can sort of sum up Kyoani as more than just two hit franchises.

Kyoani last good show was Amagi Brilliant Park because it wasn't generic copy and past school SoL and Beyond the Boundary could've been good if the ending didn't suck ass. At least Full Metal Panic is getting another season because that's the only reason why I even consider them a decent studio and comparing them to Shaft is joke.

Key works aren't good without KyoAni's touch, and KyoAni wasn't getting a fair share. Angel Beats, Little Busters, and Charlotte proved this.

It was much more profitable for them to work on their own IP (Chuu2 in this case) than to accept a licensing deal with Key. It's simple business.
