I came here hoping for Taiyo Matsumoto stuff. Now I leave in disappointment.
Already started a folder in preparation.
The only reason that SHAFT even seems to be doing this is it's apparently being produced by Aniplex and SHAFT is pretty much their favorite pet at this point. Really as soon as it was announced to be SHAFT that's the only way it even really began to add up.
So just how much ultra weepy J-Melodrama should I expect out of this.
I don't know but if that is in there it definitely answers my above question about the typical J-Melodrama relationship crap. Can pretty much skip out on this one if that's the sort of stuff I get to look forward too.
I'm just waiting for protag-kun to get absolutely wrecked by yet another alpha male character and be brotherzoned.
Look at this smug fucking cat. God damn this is one recluse arsehole
It's hinted at really early but isn't actually shown until chapter 48.
I'm trying to picture what could be sad about this show but when I look at the characters I just don't see anything but happy things about it.
>Kyoko isn't the love interest.
>person MC-kun is in love with isn't the lover interest
Doesn't matter anyways, since Hina also has her own cuckguy too that she's in love with. At least he's much nicer though,
but that's a double-edged sword.
If you're trying to say that she's in love with her mother, then never mind but, that's called an electra complex.
Kyoko and Rei have a very Asuka/Shinji vibe, except slightly less dere. Gotou is sorta like an asshole version Kaji. It's a standard sorta thing.
I read the thread, and the vain efforts at pushing cuck shitpost into this series seem meaningless since Kyoko isn't the love interest, and is completely irrelevant after the first few volumes.
>he isn't up to date with the manga
>I read the thread, and the vain efforts at pushing cuck shitpost into this series seem meaningless since Kyoko isn't the love interest, and is completely irrelevant after the first few volumes.
I don't think you understand how shitposting works.
I'm up to date. But it's equally likely for Rei to go further and deeper despair by falling in love and misinterpreting things/or she still loves the other guy more. Like Kyoko has some affection for Rei but like the other dude a lot more. The same could happen again.
>Rei proposed to her
>like a total alpha.
>proposing to a middleschooler
>that you're not even dating
>whom you've only known for a year
That's not alpha that's actually really creepy and needy as shit.
I wonder if the manga is going to end in a couple volumes since the series had an anime announcement, since that happens sometimes.
I'm just gonna rage if she pulls another Honey and NTR again.
Morita is going to bang her a couple years into marriage after Rei's noodle straw dick can't hit both walls of her vagina at simultaneously.
He needed to legitimize his position for stepping in and protecting the family.
And Akari and the aunt loved it.
No way. There's tons of material left to develop.
I can see it being a 20 volumes series.
>pro teenage board game player
>arm strength of a squirrel
>has suffered from chronic depression for years
>needs to OD on sleeping pills to fall asleep
Also "muh marriage without thinking about how the other party feels" is somehow romantic and brave in nipponland.
MC sounds like a pathetic beta faggot who gets his girls stolen from him by strong alpha males who even kick his cunt in when he tries to start shit.
Why does Japan have such a boner for pathetic, beta MCs?
People can relapse quickly as shit and trusting someone like that without an extensive time to without relapsing as reference is irresponsible.
It doesn't matter if his character developed, it matters how he'd be perceived by those around him.
>average-kun except in one area
It's literally every gaming manga protagonist you jerkoff. It's not even like he's that smart. He's average-kun but good at Shogi (just not that good in comparison to literally every person he meets)
Well damn will be passing on this shit. A-1 must have been too full for Fall to handle this shit so it must have gotten passed on down the line to SHAFT instead since it seems like their bread and butter. Wake me up when Japan feels like doing a drama series without the hammy melodrama antics and crying boys with glasses again.
I seriously don't fucking know but it really does seem to be the case nowadays. Their concept of drama seems very narrowly defined as romantic bullshit and just constant crying and pathos. They just don't seem to know how to writer about anything else nowadays. Even fucking Mexico has more variety in their Tella Novella's and you get the bonus of it being hilariously batshit crazy while J-Drama is just fucking boring and overly serious for how weepy it gets.
>character's body and mind isn't shit other than the fact he's good a shogi
>now he's superman
All the main shogi players he interacts with are better than him by far. The only people he beats are jobbers and they immediately disapear from the story.
Now that's some impressive mental gymnastic.
Rei supports himself and is willing to provide for the family he cares about, made a handful of close friens he can rely on, supported said family and the person he love during hard times, even defending them from their father that was about to tear their family apart again, he is even making the effort to estabilish a loving relationship with the adoptive family that always resented him.
Denying his development is pure delusion.
I blame this guy, before he came along manga was just guys with giant swords and guns traveling wastelands and banging things.
Not really sure what you're talking about but even at my lowest of expectations I didn't expect this series to contain this sort of typical bullshit. My interest in it went from maybe 10% chance of watching to absolute zero. Just no time for J-Drama relationship bullshit, let the MALtards and dregs of /a/ bash each others heads in about it for all I care.
You have no point and clearly no idea of what you're talking about.
Not that you're the only one, this thread is shitposting central.
It's always a shame when a good manga gets an anime adaption and a bunch of subhuman mouthbreathers leech off onto it.
Maybe it's that
his parents and sister died, and he's been lost ever since.Or maybe it's that the girls who take care of him also lose their parents. It's a heartwarming story, but the happiness that the characters find in each other stem from tragedy and sadness, and they are still trying to reassemble their lives through each other.
>You have no point
I'd never trust a scrawny nippon teen that plays shogi and looks like he's been cutting himself for the past 10 years with my family.
That's the only point I'm trying to make
Because it's better than Berserk.
At least that sort of pre-Eva type action/drama series could still be fun in a quirky sort of way and the drama was kind of tongue in cheek and presented with a sort of knowing macho bravado that balanced it all out. You can still occasionally get those shows with fun/interesting if not especially nuanced protagonists every so often like a Jojo Saga but there's definitely been a massive upswing in just weepy pathetic male leads and their stupid non-relationships with horrible excuse for human being characters ever since Evangelion took off and the visual novel/dating sim scene that takes itself far too seriously started bleeding into anime.
It kind of went away for a little bit in the late 2000's and early 2010's but is now back again full force I guess as a result of some recent grimderp stuff getting popular and it's just kind of more tiresome than ever now. Having a male lead be all broken and pathetic and stuck an overly grim and depressing "welcome to my life" character arc doesn't automatically make them more interesting and their story arc deeper and more involved like Japan and dumb MALtards seems to think.
I don't know maybe this is just my own experience but I just plain didn't get into anime to cry myself to death over some sad sack characters melodramatic shitty life, romantic non-experiences, and ham-fisted writing where the soul purpose seems to be to try to jerk my emotions around in cliche and usually overwrought scenarios. Sadly that seems to be the way the scene still wants to go with it's more "adult" and drama oriented series.
Can't believe it was liked enough to get a spinoff.
I could ask most of this board the same question. Maybe if certain producers stopped making the same shitty types of shows over and over again I'd have some new commentary to add about them.
Okay believe it or fucking not it's possible to come up with something longer than a sentence fragment and not have it be a pasta. Shocking I know. I think and type fast, I'm not retarded and just trying to come up with shitposting to rile people up like the majority here. Seems people are perfectly capable of riling themselves up anyway though. Starting to suspect that maybe your average anime fan is just kind of stupid nowadays.
Did you call it ping pong the second coming because shaft will make sure there is no animation?
I thought autism was supposed to be the condition where people have trouble articulating much of anything and are just kind of half mute or incapable of functioning in any sort of situation. I don't think that's actually what's going on here so much as the exact fucking opposite.
It's not even about Japan not handling violence, NHK particularly just isn't a network for that stuff. Their current cartoons in their main channel are a Canadian kids' show and some British gourmet's food diary about Japan.
One can only hope that's the case. I mean really at the end of the day only communities like MAL and 2ch buy into that sort of material that hard every single time. If you actually lived in Japan and experienced their average live action television dramas I'm telling you it'd get a lot older a whole lot faster.
Fucking dropped. Why do you do this shit to yourselves, Japan? Are you this much of an estrogen-filled cuck country?
I'm not looking for HIGH TEST or shit like that. Just an MC who actually has a small set of balls, or is self-aware of his sad state and is (at least trying to) rectifying his pathetic life, instead of "WO IS ME, I'M A SAD BETA FAG, PLEASE FEEL PITY FOR ME".
Pic related was one of the better "beta" MCs japan has produced. A good blend of beta+alpha traits, not going too overboard in either direction.
As much as I enjoy MCILAL, Honey and Clover will always be this mangaka's crowning achievement. Does have some qt's tho.
Pretty much any noitaminA show since Ping Pong or just about any Aniplex original basically. If people want to whine about me shitting on poor old Aniplex again go ahead but point still stands.
It's funny how anime was so fucking macho for most of the 60's 70's 80's and even 90's, even overly so arguably and then the one two punch of Eva hitting in the 90's jump starting the otaku boom and the late night anime scene for "mature viewers" taking off in the mid 2000's seems to have sent it careening towards the exact opposite extreme ever since.
Personally I'm most tired of the sad sack otaku character that can barely function but has beautiful girls fawning all over him that he does his best to ignore or somehow manage to fuck up relationships with but boy does he sure know his fucking eroge tropes yo. It's just as bad when they try to do the eroge playin, animu collectin' genius at everything otaku for life type MC like in NGNL as well.
Personally I have to believe there's somewhere in Japan on 2ch or something where a group of what is now the counter culture of anime fans is going what the fuck over this.
Quickly skimmed through the Kyoko chapters because i love NTR
But it seems Gotou doesnt even want to hang around her and loves his wife
She is is obnoxiously attached to him
Can it still be called NTR?
Being engaged in fiction =/= throwing an autistic shitlift every time a relationship between a female characters and a male characters that isn't the MC is hinted, even if you haven't watched the show.
It's like refusing to watch a show where characters die because their deaths would hit you like you really knew them. Pure unadultered autism.
>tfw no middle school girl to defend your honor
Well you can't stop some people from being stupid and doing what they want to do. For a fandom as robotic and reactionary as anime's is nowadays NTR=throw bitchfit and that's kind of where the thought processes begin and end.
No I'm fucking sick of it now because Japan abuses the ever loving fuck out of it as it's sole example of what drama is. It wouldn't be a problem if the country didn't but other people seem to by into it every single time. The only time it's tolerable is when something is outright parodying how cliche it is.
The Kyoko stuff really isn't required in the narrative. It could be easily substituted for other depression fuel.
The fact that the guy Kyoko likes is like this super alpha male strongman, better than the MC at shogi, and regularly kicks the shit out of him is pretty unnecessary.
Jun Maeda practically made an entire career out of this sort of thing covering him not really being able to write particularly great comedy or even characters. It's all good though just have the cute girl start dying off slowly but surely and the critical acclaim will come.
That's the case for poorly written fiction, which obviosly isn't the case for SnL.
The manga doesn't really spend much time of it, but it was somehow inevitable considering Rei and Kyoko abusive relationship and her daddy issues.
>somebody acting like a freaking stalker is romantic
The cries of NTR in this thread are giving me bone cancer, you clearly haven't read the manga. Pretty clear that they love/hate each other as brother and sister, not romantic at all. Even the relatonship between Rei and Hinata is still a platonic 'i want to take care of you' relationship, not romantic.
Unless any time any girl in any show likes someone other than MC is NTR, this manga is fine. The lead goes from being depressed and alone and weak to gaining friends and family and strength, this shit is good.
Though maybe he gets cucked in the end somehow, I don't know
Meeting unrelated people and entering a familial relationship is what makes this manga so comfy to me. Friendship, caring and warm homecooked meals soothes me.
The emotional core is how to mitigate and manage sadness, romance has a part in it but isn't the focus. This makes it an unusual manga and I welcome the adaptation.
But please, do go on about cuck and ntr and all that dreck.
They're his only pillar of mental support and he can't function as a person without them. That's no different from being a pet. He needs to live his life and stand on his own.
>The fact that the guy Kyoko likes is like this super alpha male strongman, better than the MC at shogi, and regularly kicks the shit out of him is pretty unnecessary.
Except that that guy's a great character.
He's not. He's a grown fucking man who acts smug and beats up teenagers.
If he was a good person he'd
>call the police on Kyoko so she leaves him alone
>calmly talk the MC down and refuse all advances from Kyoko
He's deliberately making the mc feel like a cuck by acting the way he's acting.
>remembering watching this with /a/
>remembering it defining my career/life (became art teacher)
>rewatched it 10+ times easily
it'll never live up to honey and clover
they were childish to not choose JC staff to animate it again, they IMPROVED the manga
Support and funding regardless of how it sells. Don't think Chihayafuru would have gotten sequels if it wasn't for NHK. It also means that it will be exposed to a broader and more mainstream audience, as it won't air during those late hours when only degenerates and otaku are up.
3lion should be good entertainment.
They ship that Chica x Shinbo thing quite hard.
>This season we got Boku Dake
>Now we got Cuck Comes Like a Lion
Why is Morita the best male character of all time?
