No, he didn't. YYH never had a break during its run. Althought Togashi was always complaining about the infamous mangaka schedule, and, after the ending, he published a letter explaining how the work basically ruined his health and his artistic integrity.

Nothing about this world is interesting, none of the characters or plot can keep you hooked looking for more. Sure, I like togashi's writing but honestly it doesn't matter to me if he writes hxh or some other shit.

Gon had a satisfying arc that has a good finish to it. Gon's dad was interesting but we don't know anything about Ging grandpa to care about him. Nen is honestly one of the shittiest power systems and I think togashi would implement his next system much better than this one.

Not to mention our sense of power scale had been completely shattered by CA arc. The world of hunter hunter which was full of dangerous foes in the background like hisoka, illumi and chrollo doesn't feel dangerous anymore.

There is nothing about Hunter hunter that is worth keeping. Togashi can just start a new manga and hell, maybe because its fresh he will write more often.

It is not about the power it is about the fear factor. After the insanity of the CA and length of the CA arc most people just don't view hisoka and chrollo as the big threats looming in the background like they use to be.
