Really fucked up the later seasons but just season 1 is one of my favorite anime.

It takes a little while to pick up and the CGI is terrible but the combination of a cozy village and entertaining characters is really nice. It is sad how they throw that all away in the later series though.

Having just finished S1 a couple of days ago, I might as well ask - am I right to be disappointed with the Ryosuke duel? I was hoping for something more exciting, either via hype or via something technically intriguing, but it was largely just a straight duel in the end, one where, even with Takumi's mistake, it never felt like Ryosuke was ever going to be anything more than a cliche 'threat'.

it showed the most racing but I wasnt too expectant of it either. I liked season 1 more for the overal feel. Especially since after season 3 (or w/e you watn to call the movie) they set it up in a way that they cant lose because the consequences would hurt the story too much.

It's defiantly one of my favorite shows ever. It's far from perfect, but the soundtrack mixed with the the entertaining races and characters makes you forget all the bad stuff the series is full of. If you're just looking for someone to tell you to watch it, do it. But make sure whatever you do don't watch past 3rd stage
