>>137460272 She got possessed by a gay angel and nobody gave a fuck, the guy she loves got together with a girl that treats him like garbage, and finally she got thrown away to some guy she has never talked to for the sake of retarded shipping. All for having green hair.
>>137460959 Is boring, and the character designs are awful, not even Akino was in that one, and some other dude other than Kawamori did the mech designs. Watch it if you must, but you aren't missing out on anything if you don't.
I loved Evol and thought Logos was godawful. Heck, I dropped it 6 episodes in.
Was it the shitty modern day setting? Was it the lack of actual fun hijinks? Was it the shitty music and robotic characters? I don't know, but it was immensely disappointing, and I even enjoyed the second half of Evol.
>>137461254 >Was it the lack of actual fun hijinks? Nigga, Logos was fun hijinks all the time. If anything its main flaw is that it was weirdos doing weird things for 16 episodes without any serious plot.
The problem with LOGOS's is that there's really no significant intrigue or complexity to it. It's probably the simplest plot of the series. There's very little to get dark about when the whole plan fits on a postcard.
It only starts to ramp up when everyone's out of place; NESTA's under new management, DEAVA gets fucking arrested and both Subete and Akira are trying their hardest to die before the finale.
Well... It's mostly music and mechs, but wordplay and characters are relatively important as well.
I'll say it this way, If all you wanted out of Aquarion was pretty mechs and music, LOGOs isn't for you. It's still the strongest show in the series because it stands without needing an Akino album to prop it up.
In the original series The dog Pollion was reincarnated as Rena Rune, everyone's favorite blind vampire.
This is revealed in one of the best scenes in the franchise and is the most ironclad reincarnation in the series, since they literally confirm that Rena teleports back to Apollo because Pollion hears Apollonius, and comes running when she hears her master's voice.
It also immediately lead into a "women can't understand the bond between a boy and his dog" joke, further cementing it.
In other words, Fuck yalls, Pollion's reincarnation is fucking taken; Eat shit EVOL.
>>137462054 >It's still the strongest show in the series because it stands without needing an Akino album to prop it up That's like saying Love Live would be better if it didn't need the singing to prop it up. The music is part of the show, too.
Actually, it's the worst thing ever because you can't have a show with a theme about destiny, use a plot about fighting destiny, then have the main party go right back into their fated roles, the whole time patting themselves on the back about how they're all making their own decisions.
>>137462252 >Am I really one of the half dozen people who watched this?
I watched it for about 8 episodes before I got bored and just couldn't be assed to download it anymore.
It was pretty fucking boring. Akira was the worst MC out of all three for those episodes I watched, which means a lot considering cour 2 Amata was pretty bad. The "fight" scenes weren't even fights, it was them kinda just flying around doing some shitty ass word play then OHKOing the "monsters". The cast was pretty forgettable for the most part too, Evol may have been bad but it at least had the best side cast in the series.
Maybe it got better as it went on, but I was bored out of my mind watching it.
>>137463319 Every single line coming out of Akira's mouth was JUSTICE followed by "silent badass", then him saving the day while everyone else jobbed. I couldn't handle it, honestly. He managed to be even more single minded than Amata.
>>137463037 >Second half EVOL > First half LOGOS This is wrong. Even if you disliked Logos first half, it wasn't pants on head retarded and it certainly didn't ruin a previous show making the characters retroactively retarded. Also ruining Fudo. Second half of EVOL is worst thing ever.
>>137462911 I never cared about the romance I thought the show was terrible.
> Unlikable, cardboard-tier characters that only exist to act like whatever the plot needs them to regardless of prior characterization > Bullshit plot full of holes, asspulls, forgotten plot points and inconsistent as fuck > Fight destiny by going along with it
Only butthurt mikonofags think the only people that hated evol were zessicafags when in fact, even if zessica had won it'd still be a badly written show.
>>137463712 LOGOS's first half bored me to tears. I'm only putting it behind EVOL because they had the banana episode in that shit and ZETSUBOUTEKI so at least it had some parts that actually made me grinning like an absolute idiot.
Is it time? I think it's fucking time. Genesis of Aquarion > Sousei no Aquarion > Kimi no Shinwa = Paradoxical Zoo > Gekkou Symphonia > Go Tight > Eve no Danpen > God fucking please Yunoha stop singing
I spent both seasons of LOGOS airing going back and forth with a love and hate for it. In the end I just came to the conclusion that it was just as ridiculous as EVOL but not as fun because the music wasn't as good and some of the side characters existed just to fill screentime. Akira getting blow the fuck out in the ending like a mental paitent waiting for his bedpan to shit was the highest point of the series. I feel bad for the people who never got to see his autism get completely destroyed.
>>137463831 The thing is, Fudo could have been an amazing villain. Think about it:
> cheats on his fiancee to go for a human woman (for extra humiliation) and exterminates his own race > after a while, leaves human woman without any explanation whatsoever, makes human woman so desperate she promises to seek him 12,000 years later > fucks around with everyone from both sides, making them dirty their hands for him, watching them die for his cause > turns out he was a immortal sociopath that enjoyed watching mortals slaughter each other for his own amusement > the real hero was his old friend who secretly wanted to fuck his former lover and whom Apollonius gets all the credit for his heroic deeds thanks to 24,000 years of misunderstandings
I wouldn't even be mad about the retarded plot twist if they had just acknowledged Fudo as the dick he was. But nope, Kawamori's self-insert is sacred, apparently.
>>137464425 its my hope now that the tie-in series will be the reveal that fudo was dicking with everyone all along and all the characters have to work together scooby doo style to figure it out. Then they confront Fudo in another universe and talk about donut holes existing or not while doing a All-Character mecha gattai to send him to another universe reversing all the bad shit he's done. >>137464920 you know its a reference to Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia right?
I really wanted fucking Aquarion LOVE to mugen punch both Altair and Vega, grab on to both planets, and then with the sheer asspull willpower of both the planet's populace, pull them both into each other for a planetary GATTAI.
>>137465519 Every story has to have a degree of consistency to at least make the audience give a shit about it. Why do you think people hate the second half? It made no fucking sense it wasn't even funny. Even comedy shows like Aquarion have to make their stories make sense for the audience to care or else you get shit like EVOL, something everyone wants to forget about because no one knew what the fuck were the writers trying to do.
This whole "it's Aquarion, it doesn't have to make sense" is a piss poor excuse for its bad writing, as if by just throwing some random shit will instantly mean it's funny. It doesn't work like that, just look at Logos.
>>137465687 I hate the second half because it wasn't funny, but not because it didn't make sense. The whole show barely made sense from the start, and there's plenty of shit like the multiverse that I just go along with because why not. Most of Evol wasn't in that category, unfortunately.
>>137465887 I was really mad at first, but now that it's been a few years, it's actually sort of amusing to think about how that was a thing that actually happened.
>>137465687 >It doesn't work like that, just look at Logos. >its a comedy You don't understand Aquarion then. They've always been serious, its just you took it as a comedy because its too exaggerated so you thought 'wow this can't be what they just did'. Little do you understand, from the start, thats been the aim all along. Its exactly like trying to make sense of j-pop lyrics. Being a western viewer, you think it has to make sense. But no, its there for fun. You have lost your way.
>>137466020 >but not because it didn't make sense At least they were consistent with the whole reincarnation thing, but c'mon, the rest just went right out of the window.
Amata's whole shitty resolution with his parents. Also crawling on the floor for Mikono for no good reason. Zessica going after Amata even after being rejected, again for no reason whatsoever. Andy somehow blaming Amata for MIX's kidnapping. Cayenne's vision kept changing to whatever the writers felt like, Altair being swept down the rug along with the curse, and Yunoha's being shoehorned into everything even though she was basically pointless without Jin, Kagura being inconsistent as a character and making a 360° turn at the last minute for no reason whatsoever, and Mykage changing motivations and having no limits to his powers, suddenly being a ghost or whatever.
The only parts that were more or less consistent were Andy rescuing MIX and Shrade's death, but the rest were going nowhere. They kept changing shit about the characters as they went, even as far as contradicting themselves one or two episodes later. The only way it'd make sense is if you forget entirely about the first half.
>>137466377 What I meant was that the not making sense wasn't a problem for me, because plenty of shit doesn't make sense. Hell, Silvia's entire character arc in Sousei was pretty stupid, but I could accept that.
>>137466450 > neither does the japanese audience This is pretty much fact, though. The Japanese audience didn't like Aquarion aside from the music to begin with. They liked EVOL, which was much further in tone from the original than Logos was.
>>137466556 >They liked EVOL In the beginning. They hated EVOL after it ended too, and not much later they all forgot about it. The only thing that revived their interest for a day was the tv special, and even then it was very brief. But nope, EVOL is dead to them. And they're specially salty about the whole dog thing.
