Is there another show that was as hyped and as quickly forgotten as this?
I never watched it.
>hyped and as quickly forgotten
I feel this way about all his work actually. Who even remebers Penguindrum? He does this shit I hate that lots of artists do where he expects you're just as insane as he is. Or just doesn't care that you aren't more likely. Fuck artists; they shouldn't be allowed to make anime.
I remember this being hyped because the author was somewhat important. That's why I picked it up.
It's probably because it focused too much on the yuri
Yuri doesn't sell and both the west and Japan hates that genre
And I mean actual blatant yuri, not Euphonium-level yuri-bait
Basically it appealed to the existing Ikuhara fanbase. People who hadn't watched Utena or Penguindrum got lost early and gave up. It was still a really good show.
You really should watch it - It's great.
Should have been given a full 2 cour though - Would have been even better.
AOTY. It was super fun watching it with /a/.
Everything was daijoubu.
There are Eva threads every day and under the mountains of red vs blue bullshit, there can be some actual discussion. YKA and MPD threads are rare and they tend to be circlejekrs between 3 or 4 Ikuharafags posting 2deep4u to every criticism
Last year was full of that sort of anime. Charlotte was suppose to be the new Angel Beats and wasn't, Plastic Memories made /a/ cry on the first episode and then did fuck all afterwards, Even Owarimonogatari was just another addition in the long, long series that is Monogatari.
Even before that as well
>Black Butler is a well liked and well known anime. It gets a new season, /a/ does not care
>Mushishi is a well liked and well known anime even on /a/. New season, manga fully adapted, gets a movie, the whole nine yards, and the threads are very slow and quiet
>DRRR! See the above two, it's still ongoing and no one fucking cares
/a/ does not care for things they can't meme, at least not to the extent for the things they can.
