This season we have BokuDake and Gyaruko-san, the only two things that aren't overdone to death.

And being generic isn't bad, it's a zero.
You can be generic, but you have to bring something to the table. Generic characters can be used to bring forward an interesting plot, or a boring plot can be kept up by intersting characters.

But when your character are bottom-of-the-barrel archetypes to the point where I could mistake them for parodies, and when your plot is lackluster, you have absolutely no redeeming points.

Like I said before, fortunately they have the phantom gimmicks to keep things interesting, but the characters are objectively bland. And yes, I'm saying objectively. Because it's not a matter of taste, they're objectively EXACTLY the paper archetype they each represent.
