Audio-Technica ATH-A900

Had to replace the pads a couple times, over the years, but they still work pretty great. I don't care for the "wings" or whatever they call them that stabilize the headphones, but I can't really complain about the sound. And I got them for a steal at $100 brand new.

Sennheiser HD700 and HD650 headphones coupled with a DAC + tube amp, plus Bose Companion 20 speakers. On the go I use a pair of wireless Beats Studio V2, not exactly hi-fi stuff but the sound quality is acceptable and the comfort plus noise cancellation are great for listening and watching on the commute.

How would you say the 2Fs are? I've had a pair of 2.1 pre-fazor for a couple years now and love them, but the left driver recently shit the bed.

I've heard that all new replacements at being fazor'd and that the sound signature is quite different from the earlier models, so I'm a little nervous about not liking them when they come back.
Currently using pic related (normally my portable phones).

If you've the cash. Get Stax 2170 right now. If you don't then the HD600 is the best and I'm not kidding. I don't think you need an amp, you could like buy the headphones first and save up later for a amp+dac. If you can't afford both of these then try the VSD5 IEMs. They're just like HD800 except it's boomier. http://pastebin.com/c0i64vVg

I don't recommend the CD900ST but it's just there in the list when I don't like using the Etymotic earphone. And both are used for closed in listening.

No problem. I also changed a few things in the link and now I feel like VSD5s are gonna go like hotcakes the same way the SHP9500 did.
But the problem with the VSD5s are that the cords/wires could break easily and it sounds very bright.
This audiophile thing is very subjective to all ears and I'm afraid the VSD5 could sound like it has a v-shaped sound signature to it. But I honestly think it's like a mini HD800 except boomier.
