>>137336295 Hm? What love triangle? Saya is in love with Coconuts, Coconuts is an idiot and doesn't realize it. Coconuts isn't necessarily in love with Hotaru, she just makes his dick diamonds (understandably, she'd make any straight man's dick diamonds). Hotaru is in love with dagashi. Dagashi is inanimate and cannot love because it is a snack.
>>137336295 >the source material is boring, generic love triangle. The source material is about snacks and candy. It barely gives any time to the characters and anything they might feel other than about snacks and candy.
The only mildly entertaining parts are the parts with Saya lusting after Coconuts. Hotaru and her endless candy fetish are only entertaining when she gets lewd and even that has a shelf life. Too much dagashi talk not enough love triangle stuff.
>>137336259 Most people on /a/ never had Dagashi as a kid, thus they don't get the nostalgia that this is supposed illicit, so a lot of people ended up just watching for Saya and Hotaru even though they they aren't very well developed characters since the main focus is on the dagashi.
>>137343124 Came here to talk about this exactly. /a/ made this show out to be a love triangle/Hotaru lustfest when the true charm of the show is Hotaru using her candy lust to make her adult friends play childish games with her. Honestly, I'm surprised how most of /a/ aren't catching on to the true message of the show despite hating adulthood so much. I suppose Hotatits are too distracting or they're ignoring it because waifu wars are guaranteed posts.
>>137336259 It's boring, it would be improved if it was actually a love triangle like >>137336295 said, but it's literally just about candy with drawings of two girls with lewd faces thrown in. When I first read the manga I was hoping there might actually be some sort of plot or character development, but nah, nothing.
>>137343124 >>137343575 Thing is, if the show actually included candy we all knew about and were nostalgic about, would it be any better? I don't really think so. The manga and show both just feel like an extended add for different dagashi.
>>137343605 The difference is that the target audience had it. I think the anon you replied to is right. Imagine if the show was about the candy you had in your childhood. About jawbreakers or those licorice things you wrapped around your thumb or licorice roots or perhaps even the non-candy fake cigarettes you used to look like you were smoking. That'd make you a bit nostalgic, wouldn't it?
>>137344108 Not even american but I remember the hubba bubba and push pop. Airheads too actually. Damn son.
>>137343907 This. The chapters are literally about nothing but some random snack introduced. No character development, no plot, no love triangle, not even a hint of romance, nothing. Hell, Saya is barely in any chapters.
Since I'm a third worlder and Japanese dagashi are quite similar to the candy that most stores used to sell in my country like 20 years ago, I really dig most of the show, the references are quite mainstream too and the girls are cute/sexy. Sadly, the ED is really weird and it creeps me out.
I guess people that watch Game Center CX could appreciate the show a bit, specially the ones that prefer the trips to the main challenge. Hell, I'm kinda interested in going to Japan just to try some sweets that I don't get the chance to import.
