Early 2000 anime that deserve some recognition.
I'll start with s-CRY-ed
Not a perfect anime by any stretch of the imagination, but still one of my favourites and worth watching, I think.
Watched the Puppet Princess the other day. Pretty good as far as dumb ninja movies go. Director's great and it was well animated. Princess was cute af
Tried the first ep, was meh, but I'll try harder.
In the middle of it, very good.
I plan to watch this, if you want to sell it to me so I augment my priority, feel free.
I'm also interested in RahXephon, Argento Soma and Zettai Shounen.
I'm not a fan of it but Hanada Shounen-shi really lacks recognition.
Early 2000's era seems to be the one where I lack anime knowledge the most.
GA is one of the diamonds in the rough of 2000's anime and possibly one of the funniest shows to come out of Japan and only ignored due to the fact that it came out during the awkward phase of animation during the 2000's. The regular episode length is 11 minutes so the comedy doesn't overstay its welcome and it's a lengthy stretch for a comedy series with 4 great seasons while the fanbase generally denounces the existence of the 5th generation.
It's also a decently entertaining hexalogy of VNs
Admittedly, it starts off weak in the first few episodes and S1 is generally really tame but it gets fucking insane later on
Wolf's Rain anyone?
Also s-cry-ed is still one of my favorite anime.
RRRRADICAL GOOD SPEEEEEEEEEED!!!
I wasn't ready for this, my heart has never recovered.
What hurts the most looking at that is that font that we will never see again in our subs. I know there's no good reason to want it, but the thought that that kind of thing is dead just makes me sad.
For me It's the borderline pure innocence of Kazuma that really kills it. It was like watching a kid who doesn't understand what death is try to wake up his puppy.
It really does fit the series so well doesn't it?
The blue-haired chick jobbed even harder. They hype her up the whole series, but in her first and only real fight she just sort of gives up almost immediately. Or at least that's how I remember it.
Just saying she's a lover, not a fighter.
Does anyone have that magazine spread of Sherice with the text "Hisashi Hirai, man of many talents" or something similar? I couldn't find it anywhere.
is more than heal, I guess, she put her hand inside those Women that were some guy's Alter
no idea but I have this, the manga was way lewder
The early 2000 gave us a boon of Harlock stuff, Cosmo Warrior Zero, Maetel Legend, Endless Odyssey...
They're all bretty good stuff, sometimes the quality takes a bit of a hit but they're decent stuff to watch, especially if you like the Leijiverse, Space Symphony Maetel is pretty crappy though.
Maetel is Matsumoto's waifu, so that's to be expected.
Queen Emeraldas OVAs were pretty great though, Maetel got more stuff but most of it is pretty bad, especially the last series.
It's really good, although it has a weird tone as it goes on and has violent whiplash between dark and brutal and lighthearted and whimsical.
Finished Scrapped Princess recently. Any other good early 2000s fantasy I should take a look at?
Does anybody know where I can find Heat Guy J in non-potato quality?
The only torrent I can find for the show is like sub 360p.
>I wish there was an image guide to Matsumoto anime
I've been meaning to do something like that, but I get discouraged every time when I think about all the stuff I'll have to put in there and explaining the schizophrenic continuity.
What's worse is that literally everything Matsumoto made is connected because quantum multiverse lol, so if you have to make a chart or image guide it would be extremely messy and huge since everything from Queen Millennia to Gun Frontier shares some connection of sorts.
I really need to stop forgetting that Tokyotosho exists when I'm looking for stuff, thanks.
The anime was amazing for turning such a shit source material to something so simple as achilles vs patroklos chinese edition.
They also had the dynamic op that changes verses and highlights depending on the events.
she stills alive and an independent being, but she has to fuse with Ryuuho to archive perfect Zetsuei
>diamonds in the rough
>fucking Galaxy Angel
Is this what the world has become now?
Man I hated the second half of this series, lost what made it unique and brought out some generic villain so that the two characters had to team up.
Last episode was great though.
...But surely this isn't a show that's been forgotten, right?
I liked Noir, personally. Or I think I did. I think it's been over 10 years since I watched it now.
I agree with you about Madlax, though. Madlax I will never forgive.
Yeah I watched and dropped them both when Madlax was airing. I think I made it almost halfway through Noir. I don't remember too much but I remember being really annoyed with the music. There would be a fast beat going and a just still shot of a character's face for 10 seconds
This may have been late late 90s but fuck you, it was great.
Also good since it's the unofficial sequel to 24. Jack for fucked over by CTU so many times he decides to leave Earth.
Yes it does

>I liked Noir, personally. Or I think I did. I think it's been over 10 years since I watched it now.
Yep, that about sums up my feelings exactly. Also, I think madlax (sounds like an over the counter laxative) was one of Kajiura's best osts.
This was somehow the first 'real' anime I watched (apart from pokemon, yugioh, etc). Thanks god for the ad-vid notes on the old dvds.
Rewatching this now
Really great animation for 2002 show, might as well have been 2010+ with looks like that
Kraehe is the prettiest
