All of Mizukami's manga take place in a closely related multiverse. That should fix it.

It's actually pretty interesting if you take a look through his stuff and put things together.

Maybe it was the early bad quality translators at the start of Sengoku Youko but I didn't really get into it until 'Act II', not to say it would've been as strong without Act happening but Senya has been a great character to follow.

They're loosely connected by things that show up, not in the same universe. Sengoku Youko however is in the same continuity with Sanjin Sadou and his 100 demon village oneshots by characters shared between them. In the latter, the Raidou and Kazamatsuri clans have passed down their magic swords and genes to modern times with the two families taking care of the town's various demons and their hijinx.
