Nisekoi's thing is to be as excessively generic as possible. It does pretty much all of the cliches, but puts a bit more energy and silliness into them.

TWGOK was doing something a bit different, though Keima still ended up with the Tsundere in the end.

Well, I actually agree with you on some level. Chihiro wasn't as easy to manipulate and exploit. This means that Keima would have to be real effort into it, and couldn't just rely on her being predictable or loving him by default. This allows her to be an -equal-, rather than just another game heroine.

She's not a girl who's willing to be just another part of a harem, and she's independent enough to tell him to fuck off when she wants to. Despite this, she was won over by Keima being Keima, rather than him being a game protagonist. She even takes the initiative a lot of the time.
